Gable is right there with Ricochet in the “how did they fuck this up” area. Dude is a sawed off legit shooter with loads of natural charisma. He’s short, but not small. At absolute bear minimum you debut him with a Team Taz sort of deal where he does all his explosive shooty shit in squashes while commentary puts over how his lack of height is an advantage for his style due to leverage or whatever. He’d kill it in NJPW. -
I’m so much more interested in Starks, Abadon, Butcher/Blade, Big Swole and other lesser nationally-known Indy signees than I am Hardy, Lee, now Ryder. It just reeks of old bad TNA and I don’t like it.

Man those tacks scraped against Starks’s back. That was nasty. The Cody/FTR/Hangman setup is so obvious they have to be going with the Omega swerve.

Not to detour too much into JR, but as a guy that shares a lot of the same instincts in terms of what makes good pro wrestling (logic, rules matter, legit athletic backgrounds are a good thing, 1983-1986 Mid South is my favorite run of a promotion ever) I’d love to see a Grilling JR on Bash 92 because I think that’s as close to a Jim Ross Promotions show as possible, and it sucks balls outside of Sting/Vader. Not that Conrad would ever confront Ross over it. I think JR’s a good guy to have in the room, but if given the book I imagine taking his view of ideal pro wrestling to an extreme would be pretty damn...boring.

I still can’t wrap my head around AEW doubling NXT up in the key demo. Just off the cuff it *feels* like AEW is targeted at early 30’s types while WWE is targeted at kids. NXT’s fan base being old as dirt is not something I’d have expected. AEW seems to have really hit a second stride now. They were there just after Revolution, had a lull with the early COVID stuff, but are now back full force.

Cage and Starks as Power and Glory (Swole and Swag?) has immense potential.

Next week looks incredible.

Thought about it. Pretty confident in it. Best stick man of the 2010’s is our boy that opened the show tonight. They are idiots if they don’t sign him.

Impact Wrestling - 7/21/20
For Great Justice replied to DreamBroken's topic in TNA WRESTLING (Though it forever be Impact)
I am all in on some Wrestle House -
My guess is a name late 90’s / early 00’s guy that surprisingly hangs with Cody for a while in a fun 10 minute kind of thing. Glacier or Disco or someting.

Starks seemingly joined Cage and Taz’s crew on Dark, which I am totally down with. Great pairing.

Gimmicks that lasted longer than you thought

Repo Man lasted from late 91 to Spring 93. Tatanka's return lasted from August 2005 to January 2007 -

I thought Show’s promo was pretty good, at least. Personal highlight was one of the NXT guys yelling “eye for an eye!” when Drew said he got to pick the stip. Orton and Drew have both been well built this year and that should be good. As will whatever they do with all the women’s titles. Do they do something like put all four belts up for a ladder match or run a winners take all tag between Bayley/Sasha/KW at SS? Should be great either way. -
It's Clubberin' Time!
For Great Justice replied to Gordi the former AEW fan's topic in The PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING
After an extensive in depth review of the blood freaks, wrestling machine and clubberin’ threads, I have determined that the clubberin’ genre of the wrestling is the best genre. -

I submit this show as a contender in the good wrestling with absolute dog shit finishes Olympics. Cesaro did fucking plant Kofi with that powerbomb though. -
JULY 2020 WRESTLING DISCUSSION

I can’t think of a better analogy to WWE than NASCAR’s 15 year decline: - “the brand is bigger than the stars’” and the inability to (or lack of desire to) make and promote stars - homogenization of the presentation (WWE in ring style and stage setup, NASCAR car of tomorrow and all but two courses being ovals) The whole thing comes down to letting stars organically do their thing. The brand being the star is what the Globetrotters and Monster Jam (is Grace Digger a draw?) do, not what the most successful sports in the world (worked or otherwise) do. -

I am fascinated by 2020’s 12 year old wrestling demographic. What are they into in AEW? It’s not like they are overtly marketing to that demo. What are the kids at Bergen County Middle talking about with the pro graps? I can imagine Jurassic Express, Lucha Bros and OC are hits? -

I know they just released a Demo God shirt, but Jericho the character demands one with week-by-week 18-49 ratings wins on the back laid out like band tour dates -

Dan vs Omega? Shouldn’t Dan be facing Cutler?
