  1. That, and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, are my "nothing to watch, I'm watching this" movies.
  2. I had to take a break after episode 4 because I don't want to go through it too quickly. Gonna try and space out the last few episodes.
  3. Pretty much every wrap up I've read has given great marks to the Jets marks (even tho post-draft grades are kind of dumb). I'm not going to pretend to be familiar with any of the players picked, but they all seem intriguing, especially the top 3 (Kyle Connor, Jack Roslovic and Jansen Harkins). They definitely went heavy on the Yanks this year. No Barrie Colts selected? C'mon Hawerchuk, you're supposed to be our inside man.
  4. Only until instagram finally decides to #freethenipple.
  5. "We Do Not Sow" is such a great motto. Fuck all that farming shit, just kill some bastard and take his stuff.
  6. Because you can't argue with the heart.
  7. Fuck's sake, what the fuck do you think? Exactly how dumb do you think a person should be for it to be legal for you to walk into their unlocked house and steal their TV? Because I'm clearly 100% serious about this whole thing. I'm just pointing out that the Astros, Luhnow or whoever, were pretty damn careless.
  8. They're gonna be in there for 2 innings, I think they'll be fine. At worst, it'll be like 3-0 or something.
  9. Is it really stealing or hacking if Jeff Luhnow apparently did not even bother to change his passwords when he moved the database from his time with the Cardinals to the Astros? Not that I'm trying to take the Cardinals side in this, but geez man, at least change the punctuation or switch some e's to 3's or something. Of course, the Cardinals employees that did this apparently did it from their own homes, so I guess they're all just a pack of idiots. The FBI should just take away both sides internet access.
  10. Dorne was fucked and the show is ignoring all the awesome pirate Greyjoys, I'm switching my allegiance to the Boltons. At least they get shit done.
  11. How is it the Royals fans fault if they're stuffing the ballots? Other fan bases are welcome to do the same. I think it'd be hilarious for an entire team to be voted in, like that NHL All-Star game in Montreal a few years ago where it was pretty much all Canadiens on one side. The All-Star game is for fans to vote for who they want to see, clearly this year, that's going to be lots of Royals. All-Star games are a farce and a relic of a pre-interleague, internet, mlb.tv time. No one is going to remember who started in 10 years anyway, so at least this would be somewhat noteworthy.
  12. Anyone watching Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell? Not to get too hyperbolic, but I believe that its the best piece of literature of this young century and am pretty excited for the series adaptation (a much better idea than the movie that was in production a few years ago). One episode in and I am pretty satisfied. The casting is pretty much dead on, Childermass especially, although Norrell is younger than I imagined (I always pictured Ian Holm when reading). Paul Kaye as Vinculus the carny street magician is a particularly inspired bit of casting. I fully expect it to hold up, so this is a definite recommendation for anyone that is interested in historical fiction fantasy. For anyone unfamiliar with the source material, it is about magic (in the form of the 2 title characters) returning to England for the first time in 300 years, during the time of the Napoleonic Wars. Except its not sorcerers in cloaks and funny hats, as magic is presented as being an almost scholarly pursuit (during the time of magic's disappearance, practical magicians have been replaced by theoretical magicians, stuffed shirts that discuss the history of the practice).
  13. Transferring histories also leads to interesting situations where the Winnipeg Jets have no retired numbers and the Phoenix Coyotes have retired numbers for Bobby Hull, Dale Hawerchuk and Thomas Steen for their time with.....the Winnipeg Jets.
  14. Flynn signs with the Pats. Prediction: Garoppolo bombs out, Flynn has a couple monster games, some idiot team (maybe its the Jaguars turn?) gives him another $7 million. Matt Flynn: winning the NFL without winning in the NFL.
  15. I kind of feel like Erickson is just the beginning though. I feel like more heads are going to roll. They can't have Meyer win can they?
  16. My favourite part of the series, bar none, is watching Amy when she isn't interacting with anyone (and not just because Anna Chlumsky *sigh*). You can see her physically trying to restrain her brain from flying out of her skull in pure rage and exasperation.
  17. I feel like this was the episode where the pit of vipers has finally gotten around to consuming itself. People have curried and lost favour, been shunned and embraced and now they've all reached the point of mutual destruction.
  18. T'is the truth. The original plan was to release the first one in the theatre, more to act as a promotion for a TV event where they'd show all three. The first one became such a huge hit that they quickly re-edited the already shot next 2 for theatrical release. Confused the heck out of me when I bought the blu-ray of all 3 and there was such a noticeable change in the picture quality. Loved all three, but the story does take some weird turns, like the aforementioned superhuman, mentally deficient half-brother. Agree that Rapace was better than Mara, but I think it was closer than the rest of you. Nyqvist was much better than Craig. It's hard not to picture Craig just punching his way out of trouble. Never read the books, but I heard that the American version's ending is actually closer, but I still think I enjoyed the Swedish version more. I am disappointed that they never got around to making the other two, but it didn't make enough money and now too many years have gone by.
  19. Film three separate, unrelated movies and then edit them down into one.
  20. Thanks. I actually just did a rewatch of the first season a month and had no recollection of that. I knew something shady had happened with the money...
  21. Those Japanese dudes are huge.
  22. Loved the first episode of Halt and Catch Fire. Since the horrendous hurricane episode midway through last season, the show has really hit its stride. I'm guessing Gordon gets bored and tries forcing his way into Mutiny. It's nice to see that even though 15 months have gone by, he's still as oblivious to what's happening in Donna's life as ever. I hope that the three mains stay separated for a few episodes more, their repetitive bickering is what really dragged down the first half of last season. I was starting to worry that John wasn't going to show up, he was a sneaky good character last year. What was he in prison for? Something to do with Cardiff's finances? I honestly am not sure. God, I missed Mackenzie Davis. That's a lady and a half.

    Mad Max

Loved it as much as the rest of you, but I'm actually kind of disappointed that I saw it in 3D, rather than just a regualr viewing. 2D always makes everything too dark and the desert cinematography of this pretty much demands that you see it as bright and searing as possible.
  24. I love that it was Kreayshawn, of all people, that proved that James Harden does in fact know who Lil B is.
