  1. Not yet but I think Meltzer overrated the hell out of the CM Punk vs. Kojima match. That didn't feel anywhere close to 4 stars. It was a solid match, maybe 3 1/4 at most. He rated the fatal 4 way 4 stars as well and I'd have that more around 4 1/4 it should be a full star ahead of the Punk match to me.
  2. In other news, Skip Bayless made a comment disparaging LeBron James.
  3. Not sure how many people saw the actual match on here but in Mercedes vs. Willow. Mercedes was having an issue getting her footing on the top rope, she hops down to the floor and breaks her ankle. She tries to give it a go on one leg and she can't, she can't put any weight on it at all. So, she herself calls an audible and has Willow powerbomb her and take the win. The title was quite literally designed to be Mercedes to hold and instead of forcing what was supposed to be the finish she gives it to Willow. What's the point I'm making here. Sometimes shit happens in the ring and you have to think on the fly and I think that's what popped into Bryan's mind. He said at the press conference that he knew his arm was fucked but he had to think about whether to keep it going or go to the finish. The seizure spot appears to be him stalling in the moment. I don't know if that makes it any better or not but some shit went down and the rest of the match had to be improvised.
  4. I think what some folks are missing (or maybe they aren't missing it) is with a match like Omega vs. Ospreay, a blood feud, and make no mistake it's a blood feud.. these are the types of matches that have EARNED the right to go balls to the wall and kick out of finishers and cheat death and "HULK UP" or whatever else.. If you enjoy anything about Hogan's 80's run or Macho Man vs. Ultimate Warrior or The Undertaker's streak or New Japan main event epics, this was some of all of that.. The storytelling was there. It might not be your type of story but it's the type of blood feud story that's been told for decades. They didn't "kill the business" because what they did out there IS the business... this is wrestling.
  5. I second (or 3rd) that @Matt D should go watch Ospreay vs. Omega. Nobody says you have to love it or even like it but it's going to be a match that is remembered historically and from that viewpoint if you are into reviewing wrestling then you want to be up on current events
  6. If you're talking about the Hulk Up, the crowd came unglued. It was awesome.
  7. Guys..... I didn't like the convulsions spot either but what can be said that hasn't already been said? It sucked and shouldn't have happened. I don't think anyone is going to debate anyone on it.
  8. All that said, fucking wow at Omega vs. Ospreay II. If they decide to complete the trilogy at ALL IN I am all for it.. That was an incredible match with an incredible atmosphere. I disagree that it was overbooked. It's a legit blood feud. How many of those do we have in wrestling? They went to war and back. The Omega nearfalls are two of the best I've seen in recent memory. First one with the foot on the rope was a holy fuck. The second one with the Hulk Up was fucking insanity... I got out of my chair at that....
  9. Legit shocked by Okada tapping. Maybe they run it back at Wrestle Kingdom but for now the key players in AEW are quite obviously Punk, Omega, Bryan and Moxley. I like MJF but I think he needs to drop the title to one of those 4 guys pretty soon. He'll have plenty of time to grow into the role.
  10. I'm fine with that, there are a couple throwaway matches that I am not too interested in but otherwise the card is fucking stacked and we are ordering it. Can't wait.
  11. I really like WrestleMania's 5-7 even though they had a bunch of filler. WrestleMania 5 has a very well worked opener between Hercules and Haku. Rockers vs. Twin Towers is one of my favorite tag matches of that era. Blue Blazer vs. Mr. Perfect is fucking awesome even if it's a bit short. Macho vs. Hogan is a very underrated main event. It's superb all the way up to the bullshit no sell of Macho's elbow but what the hell can you do?
  12. Not at all. It was "well worked" to me. I meant the newsletter type of dudes likely think it sucks or it's "not for them" but I appreciate all styles of wrestling and what they were trying to accomplish and whether they succeeded or not. Shit, one of my favorite matches is Hulk Hogan vs. The Ultimate Warrior. One may say, oh that's nostalgia talking. Oh, you were a little kid. No, that may play a part but those two delivered a hell of a match and I stand by that. I've seen it as recently as a couple months ago and it's holds up.
  13. what in the hell. Shout out to this podcast i been listening to for alerting me that this happened i don't remember it at all but wow what a legend
  14. That was my thought but I don't see others echoing what I said so maybe it was just me Lol. But yeah it's worth a watch at least this episode and then tell me if you agree, I thought stylistically it was different than the usual matches I see on Dynamite (which I also like).
  15. People complain about The Usos spamming the superkicks but Jey Uso's superkick to Roman was ON THE MONEY...
  16. Willow and Skye Blue are a great team with matching gear. Toni and Ruby were matching too maybe they should do a tag division that was a good match. If not, then Willow and Skye should definitely be near the top of the babyface pecking order. I also felt like the show needed a little something at the end. Some type of angle or cliffhanger for next week. That's my only gripe.
  17. Yeah, that "Counterfeit Bucks" line was good. If they are going to throw shots at each other cool but that doesn't make much money, get in the ring boys! Anyway, this was a good show. I don't know if it was intentional or not but it felt different stylistically.. did anyone notice this? More mat grappling, hard hitting, more selling.. bigger dudes.. I enjoyed it. Set looks great too.
  18. That's not a crazy answer either though I mean it's literally the biggest match of all time right? Or close to it. The rematch was watched by 33 million people. Some people, especially kids are wrestling fans for the characters and the spectacle rather than a well worked match.
  19. But they are still trained by the WWE. If you don't want to call them "PC successes" that's fair but they are successes of WWE's training being that they never wrestled anywhere else.
  20. I'll say and this is just me.... Bret vs. Austin got me back into WWF. I was a kid at the time but had already aged out of wrestling by Royal Rumble 1995. I had no clue about Hogan's heel turn and the nWo until I started to see some commercials during Atlanta Braves broadcasts. I remember saying "hmm that seems interesting" but never bothered to watch it until after I got back into WWF. I was flipping through the channels one day and they are showing a recap of what happened at Royal Rumble '97 and Bret was my guy in the 90s before I got out of it. Well, everything with Bret and Austin seemed just a lot cooler and edgier, more adult than the BS that was going on into '95 with both companies. Hogan's run in '94 in WCW actually made me quit on them as well, I had no interest. So yeah, it was Bret vs. Austin that got me back in after about a 2-year break and The Hart Foundation was tremendous stuff. For my money, WWF 1997 (and the nWo stuff in WCW) makes that year easily my favorite year of pro wrestling maybe ever.
  21. Bad Bunny and Logan Paul are 'Performance Center Successes" I would say...
  22. Oh, can't forget Toni Storm and Skye Blue. They really click, like it wasn't a mistake free match by any means but it was really fun. Skye Blue could be something. I love Willow. I hope she's on the PPV in some capacity.
  23. Where do I begin? So much was packed into this fucking show LOL it was insane. But it flowed really nicely, it felt like peak AEW for sure. That Forbidden Door II card is CRAZY.. You know what, I really liked MJF vs. Adam Cole also. I actually CARED about an Adam Cole match.
