  1. So can anyone explain what the Triple Crown Title means for AEW/ROH's World Title? Will titles still be defended separately? Is the Continental title simply a ceremonial title? Is it basically like the Double Gold in NJPW where the champion just basically holds both belts and defends all belts at once whenever they are defended until a new singular title is made?
  2. To share something positive here, the timing between Nigel and Adam here was perfect. And Nigel was great, as per usual, on commentary last night. https://www.reddit.com/r/SquaredCircle/comments/18vdm0x/spoilers_aew_worlds_end_nigel_mcguinness_gets/?ref=share&ref_source=link EDIT: Twitter version: https://twitter.com/DrainBamager/status/1741456534511776028
  3. Since I've been down this TikTok/Influencer/Trend rabbit hole before. This is a TikTok trend that YouTubers/influencers are doing. It involves a group of people or two people posting a video saying, "We're [married/siblings/best friends/wrestlers/influencers/etc.]," who then proceed to call out the behaviors or habits of their group, "We're [this]. We [do this]." So this was an attempt by the AEW social media or I guess Saraya in this case to create a viral video capitalizing on a current TikTok video trend. The problem is that Saraya's bit in this is kind of tone-deaf and bad in light of the recent rumors and Tony Khan's comments last night. I get that it's meant to be comedy/parody, but it basically implies that AEW employees are harassing the women's wrestlers.
  4. My problem with this is they've been doing this business with Christian controlling Killswitch/Luchasaurus and basically abusing him since going back to the Jack Perry feud. They've teased him turning on Cage since it looked like he was going to attack Nick Wayne's mom. I just don't see how much longer they can drag this out because they were already doing the PPV rematch here with Copeland after he lost the first title match on TV. If they can make some sort of compelling development here with how Christian is controlling Killswitch and what secret he has here maybe this can work, but I dunno. This felt counter-intuitive.
  5. I said letting Jericho go out there last night was going to be bad and they needed not to allow that. They did it anyway, and it made things even worse. This whole thing is a lose-lose situation. AEW was going to lose last night, no matter what happened. Not putting Jericho on TV would've been one way to mitigate the situation. People say not everyone is perpetually online. They were literally in New York last night. 20 years ago, New York crowd was chanting goodbye to Lesnar and Goldberg at WrestleMania 20. Plenty of people around that time were saying no one in the crowd would have any idea what was going on backstage with Lesnar and Goldberg and the two would still have a good match. The match was garbage and both guys stunk up the joint. The crowd totally turned on both of them and they could never get them back and they didn't even try. New York has always been a smart crowd, and AEW has a smart mark crowd. AEW literally caters to smart marks. Did you all think people really weren't going to give a crap about what was happening on social media over the weekend, especially in the New York area?
  6. It was an ultra-exaggerated, even more contrived version of the Dusty finish. It teases a babyface beating the heel champion and winning the title but ultimately ends with the title back on the heel champion. Made even dumber and worse by the fact they set up a title shot battle royal on the same night to have Killswitch win only to promptly hand over the shot back to Christian after he lost. Dumb garbage. The Dusty finish is a finish reversal. They basically did a reversal last night.
  7. Considering how badly Tony Khan failed to manage the CM Punk situation, I don’t have high hopes for this one either.
  8. Happy for Abadon that they are finally getting some air time, but they weren't ready for this PPV title slot. Abadon and Julia both botched that finish with the Moonsault. But in their defense, Charlotte Flair is 37 and still botches Moonsaults a lot. The Continental Classic eight-man tag was fine as an opener. It was the guys who didn't win from the opposing leagues. But that Keith Lee/Swerve Strickland match was so slapped together. They totally abandoned that feud a year ago and would never book their matchup. Now they suddenly decide to book it now, then Keith Lee is apparently injured and has apparently been injured over a year or some such. That Dustin Rhodes/Swerve match didn't need to go nearly that long, and Dustin got in way too much offense. The other eight-man tag stunk up the joint. Everyone looked awful other than Darby bumping like a madman for everyone. Frankly, I'm glad Sting is retiring soon because all he can do is walk and brawl at this point. Once again, letting Jericho go out on TV tonight was a bad move. The matchup made no sense, and it was just slapped together bullshit. Sammy turned face again and the fans still rejected. He's having more heel/face turns Paul Wight at this point. Copeland/Christian was a fun hardcore brawl, but the finish was terrible. They literally slapped together a title shot battle royal for the TNT title tonight just to do a contrived Dusty finish for Copeland and Christian to undo the title change. So they introduce a title shot that can be cashed in and used like a Money in the Bank briefcase, but the Killswitch just hands it over to Christian like that's something that's even allowed. Yeah, all that was dumbass contrived garbage to me. I don't think it should've been the final, but Kingston/Mox was easily match of the night and the highlight tonight. My issue is, what do they do with this triple crown title? What happens to the ROH World title and the Continental title now? They have too many belts. ROH has no identity, and their roster are all guys who signed with AEW. It's diluted the AEW product. I didn't love how the main event went, but it went about as well as it can go. I thought the outcome with Adam Cole as the Devil and who his minions were was predictable, but it wasn't the worst possible outcome, so there's that. And with this MJF can take time off and recharge, or who knows, maybe he's leaving. If that's the case, Joe is a good serious monster heel they can have carry the belt for the time being.
  9. Get rid of those titles. They have too many belts as is
  10. Letting Jericho go out there tonight was ridiculous.
  11. well that match with Jericho was a dumpster fire as I expected and it shouldn’t have happened.
  12. What a joke. Swerve should be in the finals. Bad creative.
  13. I’m not saying that wouldn’t happen. People were cheering for McMahon when he went on TV after the first story broke. I’m saying AEW shouldn’t let it happen. The story is out there now and it’s catching fire irregardless of Ric Flair or McMahon situations. Jericho should not be onscreen tonight and I stand by that.
  14. I am not calling for a Chris Jericho suspension, firing, or anything of the like yet. What I am calling for is to remove him from the show tonight because if he does go out there, it's going to be bad and a huge distraction.
  15. This whole situation is snowballing, and I'm not sure if we've seen the eye of the storm yet. More than anything, I hope the only name that's emerged in all of this is doing OK. One thing is for certain, Tony Khan cannot under any circumstances allow Chris Jericho to go into the arena tonight. He has to be quietly written off the show.
  16. Didn't Jay White think MJF was the Devil earlier? I might be getting that wrong. Maybe the whole alternate Devil thing was a misdirect.
  17. The problem with the devil angle is that it's gone on so long with very little payoff.
  18. Well, this is happening. https://www.reddit.com/r/SquaredCircle/s/yXCOTPlzU0
  19. That answer is utter BS, but that's Tony Khan for you.
  20. Sammy Guevara has turned more times than The Big Show. I don't have high hopes for the Devil payoff. These angles rarely end well. Not happy about Swerve Strickland not going to the finals. I'm glad Kingston got a win back over Danielson, but the way they went with this felt counter-intuitive to booking. My other issue is they are now pivoting back to Swerve Strickland vs. Keith Lee, a feud and matchup they abandoned for the entire year and completely moved away from. Now they are going back to it? Why? They wouldn't book it at Double or Nothing or all throughout the summer. They moved Keith Lee into a half-assed feud with Shane Taylor. This is the epitome of bad creative.
  21. I thought Gatwa's first special was great. I think Ruby is going to make for a good companion as well. My only issue is it felt like they were meandering after they returned to Ruby's foster home the first time. Gatwa's got charisma and it feels like he's making the role his own. The glove trick was neat. I feel like the Doctor doesn't use cool gadgets like this often enough in nu-Who, besides the sonics. The goofy meta moments with Davina McCall and Mrs. Flood made this a kind of feel-good Doctor Who Christmas special. Good start to 15th's run. I think what I struggled with on Capaldi's run is that his debut special I found to be rather rough.
  22. If everyone has NDAs, doesn't that mean everyone leaking shit should be fired on the spot?
