After I read this, I went to profightdb to try and look for Kidman/Rey tags from that period to check out, and aside from the names one would expect, I saw a couple Disorderly Conduct matches (one of my favorite C-show teams), a couple with various configurations of Barry Windham, Hennig, and the rest of West Texas Rednecks, and a singles with Bam Bam that I don't remember seeing when it was on. So needless to say, I know what I'm doing for the rest of my evening. I also want to re-watch some of the super late WCW stuff with them against like 3 Count or Jung Dragons. I didn't care for it at the time, but it's been a good long while since I last saw a lot of that stuff. Thats sort of why I was asking. Honest to God, I don't even know if I thought it was BAD per se, just nothing is really sticking out for me like I thought it would. I remember the initial mask stuff with Nash but really, it's all sort of a blur after that until like, the very tail end

Let me pose this question, not just to you, but anyone else who wants to chime in: As far as the 5-15 Rey TV match goes, would you rather watch maskless, Filthy Animals Rey, doing bronco busters and shit or the Rey of the last couple years?

I have the same problem but it's with imagining the stupid fucking face he pulls when he's not talking. Like Droopy trying to solve a magic eye puzzle. Agreed on that face. No matter what Taz or West or Schiavone would say, he just has this weird look of concern. In retrospect, it may be a cry for help of some sort. And for what it's worth, I loved Tenay when I was a kid. I think it was '96 or '97 where he had this little five minute video segment about lucha every week on Nitro, and I thought he was like this serious, 60 Minutes-esque investigative journalist or historian or something because there was b-roll of him walking through like, a mask shop somewhere in Tijuana. To me, Rey has really hurt his all-time standing with his last few years. I started to sour on him with his Eddie Guerrero Memorial WHC run, but I really feel like he's hung around too long now. I think the arguments either for or against Rey's title runs can be boiled down to these questions: 1) Would he have gotten the WHC if not for Eddy's passing? 2) Would he have gotten a run if there was only one World title? 3) How much of his perceived success or failure hinges on the way the booking was handled at that time? Personally, I think Rey is great. He's been around forever, is perpetually over, and has had great matches with nearly everyone. In my opinion, his difficulties with injuries over the last few years have hurt him a lot more than any crowd reaction, booking decision, or other extraneous factor. Not so much in that he can't do what he used to-- I mean, how many guys that are still around are just as good as they were in the '90s?-- but more so in that I get the impression it's difficult to commit to any kind of booking plan for him.

Maybe, but I really love those guys. To me, nothing beats the schadenfreude behind watching Hogan trying to hit Warrior at Halloween Havoc (though it's not WWF/WWE).

Yeah, I made a comment in the Raw thread that Bray should have been the Yellow King. I'll be surprised if we don't get some antlers at some point, and I'm sure they'll some creepy Nikki stuff to heat up the feud. I'm out of likes for the day apparently, but that's awesome, man. You're asking if they should have launched a possible fallback content delivery system that gives them more options before they negotiate a new contract? This is why Tommy Dreamer's story should be told to ever guy who makes it to WWE. What story? Marrying a Penthouse pet, making a butt-ton of royalty cash, and telling Dixie and the world that the concussion problem is overblown and that they definitely didn't cause Junior Seau to off himself? Work hard at what you love and accept that not everyone makes it to the top but there are other ways to stay involved. Dreamer was smart enough to know he would never be THE guy in ECW or any other promotion, so he learned the business behind the business and made himself that much more valuable. Thankfully more guys are coming into the system understanding that these days and I think the performance centre will help alot. I liked this post earlier today on my phone, but I couldn't send a reply. I'm sorry for being a dick. It seemed like you were mentioning Dreamer as a cautionary tale, which made no sense to me. But you're 100% right. I think they're doing some financial management classes at the Performance Center as well, IIRC.

I can't remember where I saw it, maybe his Reddit AMA, but I saw Foley say that he really didn't consider full-time retirement until he threw up after a TNA match and thought "Gosh, I really shouldn't be doing this anymore." I don't know about anyone else, but that, as a fan, fucks me up.

Man Foley is perhaps the saddest "old dude" going. Flair looks like death and has fucked up his life. Hogan has pissed all over my memories of him. But Foley is like the cool crazy uncle you grew up with and you'd see him like twice a year and just want to hang out with him forever. Then when you're older he buys you beer and tells you cool stories and gives you dirty magazines and he's just the dude that you hang out with at parties and shit. Then you're 24 and you realise he's no further along in life than when he was 18 and he's just doddering about trying to be cool and funny and you always go to his place to meet up with him because your girlfriend hates him. Then you're 30 and he's never met your kids because you're scared he'll walk in the room stinking of piss and cigarettes and they'll be traumatised for years. Forget the whole "I don't know where I live" thing, I wasn't worried about Foley's concussion count until that one real weird Melina chapter in his third book.

You are a madman Christian was at a point in his career were people felt he should have been in the main event scene of WWE, but just wasn't givent the chance. He went to TNA and proved that he can have the big matches with the big match feel. If I had to put Cage's ECW run vs. his TNA run, I'd have to go with his TNA work. He has more fire in his matches and they came off as less mechnical during his TNA run. Granted, I am sure that had a lot to do with how TNA runs their show and what they allow their wrestlers to do. Later, I would like to do a side-by-side of Christian's best ECW matches and pit them against his best TNA matches and see which list holds up in 2014. I'd love to get in on this. Dude dragged a decent match out of Abyss, FFS.
