Absolutely not shitting on anyone who doesn't like it, but it should not need to be explained what Show brings to the table for AEW. Networks and merch licensees love familiar faces, and they dont get much more familiar than a literal actual giant who has been on TV since most of us were in grade school. Good signing.

Here's an idea: I read a few weeks ago that NJPW was looking to get rid of their IC title. Why not have an AEW guy win it, bring it over, start calling it the AEW IC title, and achieve three things at once: NJPW gets rid of their redundant belt, AEW gains one they need, and now you have Sammy or whoever getting some of that sweet forbidden door heat.

I agree with everyone about the Cruiser title being passe. Pigeonholing guys as "too small" is never a good idea, plus many of the cruisers on the roster would perfectly capable, credible TNT/World champipns. Trios titles, while a fun idea, I don't think will work long term. They'll eventually run out of teams and fresh matchups, and if you keep hiring new guys in sets of three, you'll burn through your budget pretty damn quickly. I think right now the best thing for the company is to keep the identity wrapped in the idea of "bringing tag teams back." I said it in another thread, or maybe earlier in this one, but the best thing would be to drop the FTW title and come up with something else. I could see women's tags being a logical choice, but at the same time, the singles division still needs work. Ultimately, I do think another title is probably a good idea with the 2nd show in the pipeline, and because it would be good to have a title match on Dark once in a blue moon

My lady is still in her 20s so she has to be my cultural attache on stuff like this. But the flip side is I get to be the guy saying "What do you mean you've never heard Led Zeppelin?" or "How did you never see Back to the Future?" so it kinda evens out. -

One thing I really like about hanging out here is that we (mostly) have the understanding that when we shit on something (like current WWE, for example) it's because we used to love it, and want it to be great, and know it can be - no one's rooting for failure out of spite, or because they're an AEW/NJPW/TNA "shill." It's been starting to really get under my skin in a more general sense. -
This was one of the times I was the maddest at a WWE finish and definitely one of the straws that broke the camel's back in terms of me ending it with them. I am thrilled for Mox's creative mind, but genuinely kind of worried for both dudes in this one. It's kind of crazy this is happening in a promotion with this kind of reach. But on the other side, it's an EVP of the company vs. the unquestionable top star of the company under 50, so what can I really say?

Not trying to be a dickhead, but I'm not sure I see your point. Britt is one of the most improved women they have, alongside Nyla, Anna and a bunch of others, and Rosa's long been good. The great thing about AEW is that I think they are getting to a place now where all of these women can be featured without it being at the expense of one another. They OBVIOUSLY have something with both Riho and Serena after last week, but going with them now doesn't mean it has to make Britt or Rosa now take a back seat. This is probably also going to be less of a problem post Covid when the Joshi women can travel, and the second TV show goes forward.

I've definitely come around on Riho - when I'm wrong, I'm wrong. Happy to be wrong on this one, in fact. I think part of it for me was that I just honestly didn't know who she was, so my first experiences seeing her work was with Nyla, who at the time really hadn't yet improved to where she is now (and kudos to her for that). So I think maybe there was a sort of awkwardness to some of the sequences that I may have misattributed to Riho's size. I think those two would have way better matches now than they did last year if they ever put em together again.

@Technico Support Shaq was just pissed she already has better free throw numbers than him

I am late to the thread but I finally got to watch the show tonight. I can't say enough about Riho/Deeb, the limb work, it was just fantastic. I will co-sign the Bret comparisons all day, every day. I will say: I absolutely hated the Kenny pre-school segment. The mask situation was awful, the social distancing situation was awful, the verbiage from Kenny was awful, the kids' acting was terrible, the audio was fucked up. I get what they were going for (I think?) but I wasn't digging it. At least the teacher was hot (settle down now!) I was a little confused that Jurassic Express came back immediately after the Luchasaurus vignette. I think they could have gotten a couple more weeks out of those, do the ol "head games" thing with FTR during their matches. I figured it was gonna be the first of a couple, and then boom there they were. I like the premise for the Hardy/Hangman match, but that promo was a little long for my tastes. But down and out Matt could be fun, and by the same token broke, drunk, depressed Hangman could be fun, so im still looking forward to this one. It's a very old school stip like they just did with the Chuckie T butler thing so Im into the idea of more of that. Sting!!! Dude... Part of me wonders if they shot that match already? I mean, wow. If that was just "testing it out" in advance, that's pretty wild. If he's cleared for that, God bless him, but I tensed up HARD.

Happy birthday @The Naturalenjoy! Also have to agree on the Saturday PPV. It's one of the things that give AEW events that kind of special boxing/MMA vibe (I refuse to say b*g f*ght f*ll) much like some of the early NXT Takeovers. I feel like I'm watching a show for actual adults

Emi looks way, way younger without the Freddie stuff. Maybe it's the stache

Been a real rollercoaster week for the Real Housewives of Winnipeg

Ah man, alright. I assume there's no way it can be an OMG move that early on, so im kinda stumped.

[Spoilers] "Well let's see, in 1986 Stan was living in Charl...oh wait God dammit, he was living in Florida!" [/Spoilers] Cornette's delivery was amazing on that, I have to say -
No more belts!! Besides the four proper AEW titles, you have the seemingly pointless FTW title, and with the door fully open you now have the NWA women's title, the IWGP US title, and the Impact tag titles appearing pretty regularly. If it's a must, the best way to introduce a new title I think would be an underdog babyface (if they hadn't already made him TNT Champion, Darby would be literally perfect for this) challenges Brian Cage to finally defend the FTW title, gets the upset win, and announces the next week during the customary Schiovane interview that Khan and the EVPs have decided to officially sanction it as the AEW World blah blah blah Championship. Edit: thinking about it for a few minutes, maybe they run this with Darby some time after the tag match and they just unify the FTW and TNT titles
-
I think it's a possibility Johnson and Arn turn together, and Arn stays on as his manager. I'm pretty unsure where else you can go with the Sting/Darby/Taz stuff - maybe next week is the one in which they finally leave Sting laying (or more accurately, Darby or someone finds him after an off-screen beating).

Hooooly shit aaahahahaha -
The main event has the most potential for a great match, but I think Hirsch/Rosa should be good. Hirsch has looked good on Dark lately, and really Rosa has only had one bad match this whole time. I wonder what Janela/Darby's gonna be like as a straight singles match. If this were a PPV deathmatch or something I'd probably have higher hopes (though I think I do like Janela more than most of you). I'm sure there will be no shortage of stupid bumps - hopefully Darby governs himself a bit with the PPV coming up

I think those USWA comps are exactly what's airing. I watched the end of Austin, followed by Tito, Valentine, and Cactus'. For zero dollars I cannot complain at all. I also saw an interesting indie doc last week that heavily featured Peter Avalon and other guys I recognized from CWFH. Most of it was them doing karaoke but hell if I didn't enjoy it. -
Ah, great point I didn't think of. My bad @AxB!
-
Not trying to be glib, but have to agree with @RunningFromAmericaon this one - Impact's television reach is about the same as Larry King's dick pill ads (RIP). There's no comparison to prime time on TNT.
-
Khan as online-only Bischoff is only going to be awesome til someone convinces him it's a good idea to do on TV - but he's been pretty adamant about not going that direction. So for now, the verdict is: I freaking love it.

I haven't seen any GLOW yet, but I'm liking this channel so far. Just tuned into a Terry Funk vs Brickhouse Brown match I've never seen, which Google tells me is from a 1990 USWA title tourney.
