  1. Don't get me wrong, Rollins actually makes me pine for the days of WWF Champion Diesel, who was at least decent on the stick, but the fact that Cena's the only relevant wrestler on McMahon's roster says a fuck of a lot more about McMahon's total failure as a booker over the past eight years than it does anything about Rollins or anyone else on the roster.
  2. Man, people make fun of wrestling attire all the time. Comparably speaking, if PN News came out on our screens right the fuck now, people here would be making fun of his goofy attire. I don't buy that claim of misogyny, at least here. Maybe in a pit like Wreddit or something.
  3. I wouldn't call it lazy. It's more like hopeful. The women need a giant of some sort who can act as a base for their higher-end moves and who can toss them around. She can be more rotund or cut like Chyna for all I care, but I'd like to see a bigger woman in that sort of role.
  4. It could just be me, but I'm pretty sure she got the same mega reaction in front of 13k in Brooklyn as she gets in front of the Full Sail crowd. She won't get over on the main roster, but it won't be because she has limited appeal. It's because Vince McMahon hates money.
  5. This might seem a weird question, but is anyone excited for the Royal Rumble specifically to see if they'll once again book it in a way that the crowd vocally hates? I'm hoping that they figured out that all the super-smark types show up to RR in droves as it's the first PPV on the Road to WrestleMania, and instead of trying to please them, they just go full on troll. Bryan returns as #1 in the Rumble, tossed out by #2 The Miz in thirty seconds. Cena tosses all of New Day, Dolph Ziggler, Kevin Owens, Cesaro, and Sami Zayn in his RR debut. Reigns throws out Lesnar to win it.
  6. Izzy putting her hands up to her head after Sasha snatched her bow off was great. She had a total "What the actual fuck?!" look on her face there that you can catch just before the camera goes away from her.
  7. My issue with Nia Jax is that she should be busting out a powerbomb and a fat man splash in every squash. I mean, I like that Rock Bottom knock-off well enough (and the dude in the crowd who clearly yelled ROCK BOTTOM! ROCK BOTTOM! in a Jim Ross impression after she did it actually made me crack a laugh), but I want more killer offense in these squashes. Maybe someone should have her watch Yokozuna squash matches from when he first showed up in the company in late 1991 for purposes of emulation.
  8. If they ever broke New Day up, Xavier Woods as heel Roman Reigns's hype man would be tremendous.
  9. I don't get why WWE insists on their guys having to do interviews, but doesn't groom more managers. The whole point is to have a guy that covers for your guys that look great and can work, but can't talk. I can only imagine what '86 Jim Cornette or '88 Gary Hart could do for current-day Roman Reigns as a heel.
  10. I think they accidentally pulled off a double-turn by having Samoa Joe eliminate Tyler Breeze in the battle royal, whose constant losing has essentially turned him into an underdog face as far as that crowd is concerned.
  11. This actually sounds like a decent idea. The execution has simply sucked.
  12. I love that those hosts kept calling the New Day pro wrestlers even after they corrected them with "sports entertainers."
  13. From what I've learned over the past months, this has happened multiple times before (a group of luchadores splitting AAA for CMLL or vice versa all at once). Someone who knows lucha history in far more detail than me (pretty much everyone else posting here) can elaborate or correct me if I'm wrong, but I've come across this happening on multiple occasions in the '90s and '00s.
  14. Bayley did have some decent SHIMMER matches, but I'm glad that you saw my point. Question: Did Bayley have as much buzz based on her indie work coming into NXT as, say, Athena does coming in? Trish was a fantastic heel in particular and was a perfectly acceptable wrestler. The stuff with Jericho/Christian love triangle is a guilty pleasure of mine as is her being a total dick during the Lita/Kane thing. I was going to bring up Dana Brooke as an example of a fitness model that is doing just fine as she improves. Even so, if you're going to use the "not an indy darling" talking point, why would you do it here, a place where people are clearly open to good work no matter the background of the worker?
  15. I just wanted to jump in and express how much I love Between the Sheets, but I pretty much will listen to any podcast that has Kris, Loss, Dylan, or Will on it in general. In fact, all wrestling podcasts should have those guys. I have been learning a ton of history, and because we live in the YouTube Era, I've seen a lot of cool stuff that I've watched as a result of Between the Sheets and the WON HOF shows. Thanks for you work on these!
  16. I know, those fans only accepted Bayley, Charlotte, and Sasha Banks because those three have legions of great SHIMMER and SHINE matches.
  17. I hate that Stardust character typically, but Cody nerding out about Star Wars in character as Stardust validated all the time and effort that has gone into that gimmick. Tremendous.
  18. She was pretty awful, though. Just totally unnatural and clearly looking like she was acting. Unless she's secretly a good wrestler, they're probably better off trying someone else at that backstage interviewer spot.
  19. You leave my IBS diagnosis out of this!
  20. They need to really get more of these types of wrestlers in to build back up some of their homegrown stars after losses. Tyler Breeze, for example, needs to get built back up for either a title run or a transition to the main shows right now. They have their pick of vets to bring in on a part-time basis for Breeze to beat over the next two-to-four months until they decide what to finally do with him.
  21. Whenever someone previously in TNA debuts in NXT, this really should be the standard theme song for such an event:
  22. So, in order to move past the sub-GameFAQs level posts in this thread, I will just post again that I got a Wii a few weeks ago (not from a pawn shop, but from this pretty cool vintage game store they have here and in Austin called Game Over Videogames), and I really enjoy it. I bought one for my family when they were actually still in production because they're more into the simpler motion control type stuff, but even though the popular misconception about the Wii is that the motion controls are shoehorned in to most every game, that's really not true except for Donkey Kong Country Returns, which I think would be much better without some of the motion control stuff that feels not very precise. Like, there's a big difference between shaking for that Luna-assisted spin jump in Galaxy, which works just fine, and completing some of the tumbling moves in DKCR using the motion controls. Right now, I haven't even cut on my PS4 for much other than streaming video in awhile. In the time that I get to play games, I'm just getting used Wii games and then trading them back in if I'm not a fan because the better Wii games hold value pretty well. Some quick thoughts: Super Mario Galaxy: I talked about this game quite a bit before, and so I'll keep it brief: It's a stunning game visually and the orchestral music is awesome, but I feel like there were fewer really good, clever stars in this game than there were in Super Mario 64, a game that admittedly had its share of head-scratchers for stars (like the one where you had to cannon-shoot yourself into a specific portion of a wall or the one where you had to find the false wall to take a slide to the star). I'm almost done beating it as Luigi because I just want to have the 121-star file on my Wii to say that I did it. Super Mario Strikers Charged: I don't particularly like this game, but I think FIFA Street and Sega Soccer Slam (one of my all-time favorite arcade sports games) did soccer so much better that really, this game doesn't stand up to some solid competition. It's not a terrible game or anything, but I've settled into "charged shot 2X, use power-ups earned to clear space for a mega-strike" as a clear winning formula, and the only time I lose is when the computer gets so good in the upper cups that they make ridiculous shots at will. Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: I don't know if I'm ready to say that this is the best of the Vs. fighters, but I really love it. It feels more intuitive for me for whatever reason and I'm actually good enough to put together some impressive combo strings. Maybe I'm just doing this with S-Tier guys (I don't know what the tiers are, but it's quite possible that Yatterman-1 is just S-Tier and I'm not very good at all), but I love it. I just wish it had forward parry in it. Red Steel 2: Hidden gem! I bought this on a whim last weekend and it is pretty fucking awesome and actually captures the feel of a sword game in a way that I didn't expect. I have WiiMote+ and it feels so accurate. I wish Ubi would revive this series for Oculus/Morpheus. That might be the type of game that sells me on VR.
  23. Fantasy NXT booking: Breeze has a realization that he keeps losing his focus and can't win the big one. He resolves to finally win the big one, bugging Regal about getting his one-on-one title shot for beating Zayn last year since the original shot he got was marred by interference. Regal tells him to go out there and win the Battle Royal. After Breeze makes it to the final two, Joe tosses him. Joe faces off with Finn in London and loses after he thinks he's got Finn beat. Joe snaps and turns heel on Finn. Breeze is forced to wrestle James Storm in London by Regal with the stip that he'll be in line for a one-on-one title shot against Finn if he wins. Storm kicks out of a beauty shot, but is able to keep his composure and ends up hitting an Unprettier for the win. We get video packages for Breeze that lead him toward a heel turn where he resolves to focus on his title shot and stop with the modeling gigs for awhile to train hard. We see him working out, running, etc., and the packages have the feel of a redemption story angle. Breeze beats guys left and right on TV, taking down Bull Dempsey, Solomon Crowe, and Rhyno before beating Apollo Crews in a rematch and shaking hands with him afterward. Next Takeover show, we get Breeze/Finn in the main event. After a twenty-minute match full of counters, Breeze fighting up valiantly and avoiding one Coup de Grace before kicking out of the next one, Finn gets the advantage and then goes up one more time for the CdG before Joe runs out and rushes the ring, knocking Finn off the ropes out of the view of the ref. Finn hurts his knee on the way down. Breeze comes over and helps Finn up, looking concerned. He points out Joe lurking at ringside to the ref, but since the ref didn't see anything, he doesn't call for the DQ. Breeze audibly tells the ref that this isn't right and that he wants to win the right way and helps Balor hobble out of the ring. As they get to the ropes, Breeze quickly turns Finn around and small packages him for three, then gets up acting like the old Tyler Breeze again, celebrating with the title. Then he and Joe destroy Finn's leg. There, sorry for the fantasy booking, but I just wanted to get that out.
  24. Oh, so like my *ahem* TOTALLY LEGAL COPIES of Border Down and Ikaruga. Gotcha. I still collect as many legit games for Dreamcast as possible just because I love that console. Plus, half of the games that I like haven't been ported to something newer. Big Fresh still whining about people not liking XB1 games? Dude, get over it. You're the dude that posted about someone challenging you to WWE 2K16 on PS4: Play it on a real console, nerd. You are a man whose self-worth is tied to consoles. This isn't to make fun of you, and I promise that I will stop posting to you about this topic after this, but please re-evaluate your life, dude. I'm serious, you are coming off like the thirteen-year-old kids who post on GameFAQs. I still think you MUST be trolling me. You can't be serious that "not into those games" = "I HATE ALL GAMES RARGH." Like, you've gone to a caricature of gamers in your head to protect your love for a piece of plastic. I'm honestly bewildered. Like seriously, please evaluate what you've posted here. I'm just going to do you a favor and assume that you're having a tough day and it ended up coming out like this because if this is really you, damn son.
  25. EDIT: Typing this does make me miss OG Xbox, truly one of the great consoles of our time. What a great, underrated list of exclusives. It has what I consider the best 3D platformer of all time (JSRF, and no, that's not a totally out there preference to have) along with Panzer Dragoon Orta, Shenmue 2, Shenmue 2 came out on Dreamcast. I have a copy upstairs. Also, Rocket League isn't out on XBone. I forgot about that. Did it come out in NA? Psyonix is talking about bringing Rocket League elsewhere, though it remains to be seen where. I still think Nintendo is missing the ball by not getting some of these arcade sports games up on their console. Rocket League and Super Mega Baseball come to mind as obvious fits for the audience of that console.
