  1. Guacamelee is my favorite Metroid-like, so I'm pumped about this. That SP samurai game looks dope too.
  2. I beat this game at about three hunnid and fifty stars, and let me tell you, that whole ending sequence is absurd. I mean that in the best way possible. Holy shit, this is my favorite game in the history of games.
  3. Yooo, the New Donk City Festival is the best thing I've seen in games all year or maybe all generation, actually. It was so good that my brain released a bunch of dopamine the whole time that I was playing it and now I feel like I'm on a good buzz. Your young one will be fine. Galaxy 2 is probably harder just to beat on balance; there are enough moons that are doable that he can probably beat the game without any help.
  4. I totally missed the dark woods thing, and I've decently covered the kingdom where I think that area is supposed to be. I'm still missing about fifteen moons there, so that explains most of it. I made it all the way to Metro Kingdom/New Donk City finally (not counting the warp that took me there for a single solitary moon earlier in the game), and I hear that it's the best Kingdom in the game by general consensus. Looking forward to it.
  5. I am sitting on 123 moons and am now in my fifth world. I should stop playing and go to bed soon so that I can get up early enough to watch at least one PL game tomorrow, but it's so easy to tell myself "just one more moon" and then end up losing three hours.
  6. I didn't actually mean that last post as a direct response to John. I don't want to do too much comparison between the two games because they're trying to do two different things. BotW is more vast and desolate because Hyrule is in decline, for example. It's just that for me, I like that there is so much packed into these spaces in Odyssey. Not every moon is some kind of winner, of course, because Nintendo doesn't want to gate off most of the game from players who want to beat it without having to find too many difficult moons. However, the way that they hide moons in interesting places and have a fantastic mix of puzzle moons, platforming moons, and straight up "we hid this in a place that you wouldn't expect" moons is so good. I love walking into a world and having so many interesting things crammed into it.
  7. Honestly don't get how the same company can make nine hundred moons mostly interesting (so far), but make nine hundred Korok seeds drudgery.
  8. Already up to 97 moons as I travel to the fourth world. I've almost cleared out the very first level; I'm only six moons away from completing it, and I have all the special coins. This game loves to make you look behind the black to find secret moons. I've just started rote searches for secondary moons every time I go into a 2D section or a special room.
  9. Picross S and Mario + Rabbids Battle Kingdom are two of my favorite games this year. I'd suggest those.
  10. The split joycons plays just like Wiimote and nunchuk for Super Mario Galaxy. It felt natural to me because I just got done playing those games a year or two ago. The motion stuff thankfully isn't too intrusive, and you can play without really using it and be alright. But yeah, they just threw a ton of moons around and let you figure out which way to navigate to them, and you have a ton of options because of the ability to capture things or to just jump your way over. I'm going to put in seven or eight hours tomorrow, I think.
  11. I thought that I'd start a thread for this game since I didn't see one on the board. If I messed up, please lock this. Anyway, I got through the prologue and got the ship running, and this game is already throwing tons of cool stuff out there. It's like they locked a bunch of designers in a room, fed them LSD, and then asked them for ideas for a new Mario game. I love it already, is what I'm saying.
  12. Nia always seemed too nice. Like, you can be nice and still be imposing and physical, which is how I think of someone like Awesome Kong. Nia, though, seems like a sweetheart...and she hits like one, too. Way too light for her own good, even for a company where working light is preferred (unless you're Brock Lesnar). I also support her if she really is willing to walk and go back to modeling because her booking isn't what she wants. I root for wrestlers with options. I mean, real options like Nia and Enzo have, not "options" like Dolph Ziggler's "comedy" career, and yes, I think the scare quotes are appropriate here.
  13. This ATL/CLB match has had a fantastic first half. Atlanta has a really dynamic attack, and their back four are just leaky enough that Columbus is putting through dangerous balls on the counter-attack. ATL just got saved after a perfect through ball because Meram (I think) made a pass to an obviously offside teammate instead of finishing himself. This is one of the best MLS games I've ever seen so far.
  14. IMAGINE THAT THIS COMMERCIAL IS ABOUT SUPER MARIO ODYSSEY INSTEAD OF MARIO 3 THIS IS HOW I FEEL SO HYPE NOW MARIO MARIO MARIO *ahem* Can't wait to go pick up my physical copy at 9PM release in five hours.
  15. I suppose that I should be clear that this statement is 75% cheeky, 25% I-wouldn't-be-shocked-to-find-out-this-was-true commentary. I'm not that silly. Well, you know, comparatively to most silly wrestling fans.
  16. I mean, they won't clear him out of spite because he got too over and ruined their plans with Batista three years ago or whatever. That is staggering pettiness, even for Vincent Kennedy McMahon.
  17. What would one of those entail? Something like: GRAGGGH!!! *throws chair* or somesuch?
  18. If Roman Reigns ever leaves WWE and they sign him, they can just name him Noble Roman! WE KNOW WHO THAT IS! Plus, they can dress him up to look like the Noble Roman's mascot as his gimmick: EDIT: Better yet, they can coax Jamie Noble out of retirement, rename Roman as Roman Noble, and make them a tag team called the Nobles who are just two regular pizza delivery guys trying to make it big in pro wrestling. For big matches where they have to really come to fight, they can do a Finn Balor demon thing and become "the Noble Roman Pizza Demons" and dress in matching versions of this getup. I really should get the book for an actual company, but since the world won't actually reward my creative brilliance, I'll have to try and push a version of this team in TEW or something.
  19. I think that it's worth playing if you don't have IV Complete. IV Complete develops the stuff in III (and II and I) to its natural conclusion. V changes things quite a bit, and then VI changes them even more than that.
  20. Man, I just want a KotOR III that retcons that Old Republic MMO. Bonus points if Obsidian develops it and then some other team goes back in and cleans up the code. KotOR is legitimately the only time that I've ever actually cared about Star Wars in any significant way, so of course it somehow gets dropped as a branch of that IP.
  21. I didn't say that it "should" be on fire. Strawman argument. I said that it "would" be on fire in 1997, which I think is a fair suggestion since ECW got farther from a worse starting position than LU and because even if you don't think LU is as good as peak ECW, it's certainly the type of show with a look and with the action that would have been a hit at that time.
  22. So, is wrestling dying in the United States? It might be about as mainstream as the PBA now is or something in the next decade. It's headed toward being a total niche product for diehard wrestling fans. Something like LU would have caught on fire in 1998, I think. In 2017, it's barely staying afloat.
  23. OK, but is it easy to play in bed and on my back porch? (Seriously, thank you for the info - just another game to check out on Steam, preferably before I buy Football Manager and that takes up a huge chunk of my time on PC this year.) On another note, I got one 'o them SNES Classics to go with my NES Classic. I modded it. Now, it's not merely an eighty dollar emulator trapped in a cool form factor, but a complete escape back to my simple youth, when I didn't have to worry about paying bills or getting nuked. In other words, it was well-worth the money. Also, I still remember where all the secret exits are in Super Mario World somehow; the information is buried deep in my subconscious. Playing the game again for the first time in maybe eight or nine years feels weird, as I don't actually remember fully where those goals are, but I'm guided to them somehow without even realizing it or actively trying to explore the levels.
  24. Is Picross S the best game to come out this year? I'm not sure, but I can make an argument that it is.
  25. It's Dairy Queen's fault that goddam Giuliani is the mayor. Poor David Dinkins.
