  1. Yeah, those various apps are amazing. I use the Chrome extension. Thing is a life saver. It was hell juggling gear between 3 characters at the start of the game. Flying to and from the Tower, changing characters, then flying back again. Only to forget something and have to swap characters again. But now you literally drag and drop the gear you want into your character. Must have saved me hours of wasted time over the course of playing this game.
  2. You can transfer weapons between anyone, and armour if it's the same class. However, if you wanted to do, for example, the King's Fall raid on your alt you'd have to complete The Taken King story missions on that character first to unlock it. So while the rep boost gets you to level 40 right away and you can share weapons (and armour if you made 2 warlocks or whichever) you'd still need to play through the game on that character to be able to do the weekly activities. The only way around that is to join someone else's game. I've still not finished the Taken missions on my Hunter but I can join someone else's fireteam and still do the raid.
  3. Do you already have House of Wolves? As that's needed to play both TTK and RoI. I 'think' TTK comes with both the original expansions now but that's something to check before pulling the trigger. Be prepared for a massive download when you start again. It's probably up to around 50gig now with all the expansions. I wouldn't bother with the level 40 boost since levelling up is half the fun but that's just my preference. And you'll easily hit level 40 playing normally by the time you get to a point where it's needed. The level boost is a good idea for your alt like you said. However you'd still need to play through all the missions to unlock everything on that character anyway. It'll just be a bit faster since you'll be over levelled for some of it. If it costs $10 more over there for the whole thing in one go then the only benefit is if you do drop the $60 for the complete collection digitally then you get to go disc free. If that's important to you.
  4. The other thing worth mentioning is which version to buy if you only own the base game and first expansion. I'm not sure of the pricing in the US but in the UK it's cheaper to buy the Complete Collection, which contains the base game and every expansion including Rise of iron, than buying just the ones you are missing separately. Rise of Iron is £25 in the UK but the complete collection is only £35. So it's definitely the cheapest time to get back into it. They also added purely cosmetic micro transactions with The Taken King. You can buy new emotes and some different event related stuff like sparrows and themed gear (with no light level) etc. Purely cosmetic and has no benefit or gives no advantage in the game itself. They use the money from this to fund the 'Live Events Team'. They are the ones that put together the free limited time events like sparrow racing and the free expansion last April. They actually add the old emotes and things to the Nightfall loot table when new ones are released so it's possible to get them without paying anyway if RNG is on your side. I've had maybe half a dozen different dances and sparrows free from the Nightfall that I could have paid for if I wanted to. As long as you go in not expecting each expansion to have enough content last until the next and accept there will be some downtime in between, its worth playing. I have no idea how some people have dropped 3000 hours+ into it though!
  5. I somehow completely forgot that and it's kind of a big deal! I'll edit it in.
  6. Depending on if you are more PVE or PVP based there's still somewhat of a ceiling. If you think of max light as 'completing' the game then there isn't a huge amount to do with your new power once you've hit it. Unless you are after specific gear or are a collector. However, there's a hell of a lot more to do now on the way there. It depends what you are after. This isn't World of Warcraft meets Halo like a lot of people wanted. It does have a good amount of content now though. I tend to play it pretty heavily when new content is out until I've done everything there is to do, then casually until the next expansion. If you stopped playing at Crota there's 3 (and a half) expansions to play once Rise of Iron is out on the 20th. Here's a (not so) brief run down of what's been added/taken away/still relevant. House of Wolves: Destinys second expansion. Increased the level cap to 34. Pretty redundant at this point. The story is still relevant and add maybe another hour or so of missions to play through and a new strike but it's end game content has been left behind. Key Points: Etheric Light. Destinys first attempt at an infusion system. By completing the end game content you could increase your old base game and Dark Below gear to the new light level. Ultimately, it was left behind when Bungie decided the Year One gear was too powerful. Trials of Osiris. End game for PVP. It's a 3v3 elimination game. Win 5 round to win a game. Win 9 games in a row and you go to the Lighthouse to collect your rewards. It matches you up with teams of similar skill and wins making 9 in a row very challenging. Still relevant in the current game. With each new expansion the gear is updated to match it. Can only be played Friday-Monday. Prison of the Elders. There was no raid in HoW. Instead we got a sort of hoard mode with various difficulties. The hardest one, Skolas Revenge may well have been the hardest end game content yet for some. Horror stories of people taking 12+ hours to beat it. I'm guessing a lot of that is exaggerated but it was hard. Again it was a 3 player activity but was artificially hardened by making the enemies all higher light than your max. Basic enemies would be light 35 and Skolas (and a few captains) were 36. With the old light system that meant you were doing at least 33% less damage and taking 33% more damage. Coupled with the mechanics that required constant communication and the fact that there were no checkpoints so you had to beat it in one sitting, it made it damn hard to beat if you weren't playing with a regular team. While the Skolas prison is now irrelevant they would bring back the Prison game mode the following year. Ultimately this was the expansion that drove a lot of people away. No raid, no 6 man activities and no worthwhile end game loot. The Taken King: The biggest expansion yet and went a long way to repairing the damage from the first 2. Added a new location to the map (a Hive ship), with its own patrol missions and mini public boss fights with their own mechanics. Added maybe a dozen new story missions, 3 new strikes and some updated old ones and a new raid. On top of all of that they completely overhauled the levelling system, added quests and limited time events. It basically made Destiny the game it should have been at launch. Key points: Story. An actual, extensive, story! With characters that have personalities! Something missing from the base game and something so simple that actually makes you care about the story missions instead of just blowing through them to get to the good stuff. ::edit:: New Enemies: forgot to mention this initially despite it being a big thing. With the Taken King they added a new race of enemies in. The Taken. They also updated some of the older strikes with new Taken enemies. New levelling system. Gone is the level 20 light level 34 of year one. The new system has a base level of 40. Which is levelled up through xp just like year ones level 20. But instead of the max being 34 it was changed to 320. It's now a combination of all your weapons, armour, ghost and artefact you have equipped. New Ghosts and artefacts provided limited abilities but were pretty worthless and seemed to be there just to increase the grind. Looks like that will change with the new expansion though. This was probably in response to the Skolas problem. With such a huge range of light level now, you never felt underpowered even in end game content unlike Skolas Revenge. Infusion. Carrying on from Year Ones attempt with Etheric Light they added a proper infusion system. You could take any peice of year two Legendary or Exotic gear and increase its light level by infusion a higher level piece of gear into it. At the time of TTK it would only add about 80% of the difference which meant you needed at least 2 pieces of max light gear to level up one piece. Quests. Everything seemed to get quests in year two. It was also the only way to get some of the exotics. Instead of having the Crota's End problem of people demanding a Gjallarhorn and excluding people that didn't get lucky from RNG drops most of the big exotics could be earned through completing a quest. Some had new story missions, some were harder versions of existing strikes, others had a ridiculous grind but at least you were guaranteed something at the end (even if it wasn't always worth it). Limited time events. They added 3 special events during Year Two. Festival of the Lost during Halloween added new quests to earn masks. Cosmetic items with no real benefit other than being a bit of fun. Sparrow Racing League over Christmas. Sparrow racing that people had been asking for since day one. Only 2 tracks available since it was probably more of an experiment. You could earn different sets of racing gear, new sparrows and class item and helm infusion fodder. Crimson Doubles over valentines Day. A 2v2 elimination game where you would 'enrage' when your partner died increasing your abilities. 2 exclusive ghosts are the rewards for this one. Court of Oryx: A sort of beefed up public event with raid like mechanics for the bosses. 3 difficulty levels with varying degrees of cooperation required. Fun at first but made a bit pointless by end game. Looks like they are adding something similar in the next expansion so hopefully this one will have a longer life span. King's Fall: The new raid. Back to being 6 man content again this was the most mechanic and team work heavy raid yet. Maybe too much so in my opinion. I think, not wanting to repeat the mistakes from Skolas and being under levelled they made it hard because of the mechanics rather than the enemies. It was great the first few times for me but it was no Vault of Glass. They eventually added the challenge modes. Kill each boss under specific mechanics for guaranteed rewards. Overall, a huge improvement on year one. Plenty of new things to do and a bunch of changes that made the game more streamlined and fun to play. It finally felt like a complete game. The April Update. No official name for this, the community took to calling it 'The Taken Spring'. It was a free update released to help with the lack of content between last Septembers Taken King and this years Rise of Iron. There wasn't a huge amount of content (it was free after all) but its biggest feature was the quality of life improvements. Key points: New content. Ok, so it was just one mission, one strike, a new Prison mode and a couple of quests, but hey, it was free. Infusion. Improving yet again on the current system, infusion is now 100%. If you stick a max light piece of gear into any year 2 legendary or exotic, it will make it max light. Light Level. A small increase to 335, the biggest improvement was the RNG involved. In TTK there was no guarantee the raid gear you got would be higher light than your current gear. Potentially making your raid run, the only chance at new gear that week, worthless. With the April update all end game gear was guaranteed to drop between 2-7 levels higher than your current max. End game gear. The raid is no longer the only way to get to max light. Eva mentioned it in his post and I made a post about it a few pages back so I won't go into detail. But basically there's a bunch of relevant stuff to do each week while you are levelling up instead of just 1 raid. Challenge of the Elders. A reworked Prison of Elders with new bosses. Its point based and timed. Get enough points in a run and you get a gun. Hit the max points and you get a piece of armour. Guaranteed gear at a higher light than your current. Overall, a small, free update, more a gesture of goodwill for the lack of content that actually made the game a lot more fun. Improved upon most of the improvements from The Taken King. Rise of Iron: There's plenty of info posted about this one over the past couple of pages so I won't go into detail here. It's out in 3 weeks. Doesn't look like it will completely overhaul the current system now that they've found one that works. 5 new missions, a strike and a raid. And another new race of enemies to fight bringing it up to 6. They are also extending the cosmodrome by about 1/3. The raid is apparently more Crota's End and less King's Fall. Meaning it's more of a 'fight your way through' than just bouncing from encounter to encounter and following the mechanics. They've also said Festival of the Lost and Sparrow Racing will be back in October and December again this year. There are a bunch of small things that will have changed since you last played but that's the bulk of the main ones I can think of. As for glitches in the raids and the game in general, I can't think of any. King's Fall had a few problems that have all been fixed. There's still the occasional hiccup in there but I can't think of anything as buggy as the Crota fight used to be. Hopefully this was some help and not too long and boring!
  7. https://mobile.twitter.com/AlextheBird93/status/769111116597329920/photo/1?ref_src=twsrc^tfw https://mobile.twitter.com/AlextheBird93/status/768832354026713088/photo/1?ref_src=twsrc^tfw There's some photos. Looks like the first photo was posted yesterday. They have 6 consoles in stock now. Apparently CEX got in trouble with Sony for selling Uncharted 4 before its release date so I'm not sure why they'd take the risk with this, real or not.
  8. Someone in the UK got hold some of the new PS4 slim models and sold them to CEX, a used video game DVD store. Can't imagine that will sit well with Sony. https://uk.webuy.com/product.php?sku=SPS4S500GB001#.V8Ar6V94WnO There's a photo on Twitter of the console in their store window too. Whoever it was claim they will be back later with more to sell along with some VRs CEX must be crazy to have brought those things.
  9. Annoyingly the Capcom Humble Bundle codes won't work on the UK PSN, while I don't have a PS3 I'd have probably spent the £10 for the 2 RE games and Strider anyway. For those in the UK that wanted the SF5 voucher from the 75p bundle, the games on sale this week anyway. £19.99 for the base game or £29.99 with the season pass. Edit: Looks like the Mega Man collection is also on sale in the UK store at the moment for £6.49. So at least we're not really loosing out on the vouchers over here.
  10. I had the same problem with Assault Suit Leynos last month. It wasn't in the store on the release date then mysteriously appeared a few days later with no reason as to why it was late.
  11. I'm guessing it's to bring it in line with the rest of the world. All of Europe and a bunch of other countries got a price increase this time last year. Although they didn't increase the yearly cost then, just the monthly and 3 months I believe.
  12. Sound promising. Kings Fall was great the first few times but with it being so mechanic heavy and repetitive I think I only played it maybe a dozen times. After a while 'stand here and snipe' for 3 of the 4 bosses got pretty boring. And with Oryx having 50 things going on at once it only took one weak link to screw up a run. Plus all those damn jumping sections. VoG is still the perfect combination of a fight and mechanics. Crota was buggy as hell but I liked that none of the mechanics actually needed all 6 people to complete. Skolas was repetitive but would have been ok if it was worth doing. The ridiculously low drop rates for a primary from him and the fact that everything else you got could be obtained from the 32 and 34 prison kind of made him pointless. Wrath of the Machines could be promising. If it's more of a fire fight and less needlessly complex mechanics/jumping sections where levelling up actually matters so there's a reason to go back in there it could be good.
  13. They made a few 'quality of life' improvements with the April update like the strike gear being max light. If that continues and the nightfall keeps its higher drop rates it at least makes those, and strikes relevant again while people are levelling up. 100% infusion. Which is staying. All legendaries and above dropping higher than your current light. Same with the factions and gunsmith dropping gear only 5 light lower than the max instead of 40 like it was when TTK first came out. There was literally no reason to bother with any of that stuff. Especially when infusion was only 80%. Grind factions in hopes of finally getting a peice of gear you want. Then having to use 2 peices of raid gear to level it up. That's after the RNG needed for the raid gear AND its light. No thanks. Ideally factions etc will drop at 370 with a boost to 390 later on. But they've not commented on anything like that as far as I know. Personally I'd like more 3 man PVE end game content like the prison. But I get why we won't have that straight away.
  14. Yeah, once you've started playing you're kind of locked in. If you decided half way in that you didn't want to buy the latest expansion you're essentially locked out of about 80% of the content with each new update. For those who do keep up to date with expansions Bungie have finally started to take a step in the right direction with old content. Instead of one step forward two steps back like it's been for the past 2 years. The April update increased the light, but it increased the raid gears light to match. That's the first time they've brought forward old content even if it was just for a mini update. They have also said that all year two gear can be infused to year three levels. So while Kings Fall and Challenge of the Elders will still be 335 at least the gear can be infused to 400. I can see why they don't want year one gear coming back. They went to strong to fast. The raid weapons were overpowered. No one used anything but those sets of guns. But at the same time, it's like the entire first year of the game was a waist of time. Whether people agree with that decision or not is another discussion. The old strikes were another issue. They basically made anything that wasn't Taken related useless after TTK came out. Again, it looks like they've listened. Archon Priest and Omnigul were brought forward in April and Phogoth and Sepiks Prime are back with RoI. With more emphasis on strike exclusive gear it sounds like all the current strikes will be in rotation again. I think it's just the Nexsis that hasn't received a new paint job yet. I just added it up, I've spent about £130 on this game over 2 years. I've played it for a disturbing amount of hours but that's a hell of a lot for one game. The problem is where do they go after December? The Taken King went 7 months without any real content being added and people were complaining by January. This update is half the size. I don't think people will be too thrilled about having to drop another £25 in 3 months time for more content but can they keep supplying free updates (or reasonably priced updates) until Destiny 2 hits, whenever that may be? Bungie are incredibly luck they had such a huge following coming into this. I don't think the same game, made by another studio, would have survived the year or 2 it's taken to get it on track. I find yelling at kids to stay off my lawn helps. The clouds have done nothing to me.
  15. So, looking at some information for Rise of Iron, here's what we can expect: 5 new missions, a new social, a new patrol area and Archon's Forge all attached to the Cosmodrome. From the looks of it, it's maybe 1/3 the size of the current map. Archon's Forge looks to be this expansions version of Court of Oryx, hopefully it's got more staying power. There's also a bunch of quests to complete. Most of the new exotics will come from quests. I kind of like that idea, stops any of them excluding people from content based on an RNG drop. As long as the new quests aren't as tedious as the old Thorn bounty or the Chaparone quest i'm down with that. 3 strikes. One brand new one and a SIVA update to Phogoth and Sepiks Prime. Similar to what they did with the Archon Priest strike I guess. Strike bosses now have a chance to drop a key (like the old PoE) that unlocks chests containing strike specific gear rather than the ridiculously low drop rates they currently have. A new raid. The normal mode raid will be at light 385 and drop on the Friday after RoI is released. The hard mode will come at a later date and rise the light level to 400. The Nightfall is supposedly 360 so I assume legendary gear will drop up to 370, you'll need the normal mode raid to hit 385 and hard for 400. Presumably Iron Banner and Trials will follow the raids light levels like they currently do. No increase in vault space. A real kick in the nuts. Mines pretty much full already and there's at least 3 (4?) sets of new end game gear. Apparently they've hinted that they will add vault space in a patch later on. Custom, private, games in the Crucible. And a new game mode, Supremacy. Think Kill Confirmed from Call of Duty. When you kill someone they drop a red engram, you have to collect that to get points for the kill. Iron Banner is getting an overhaul but not a lot of info on it. There's no more rep boosts from items or boons but it will require less xp to hit rank 5 now. Gear will be rewarded for completing bounties rather than end game RNG drops. Presumably Saladin will still sell set items each Banner. No Trails the first week of Rise of Iron. I guess it's because the raid drops on the Friday when ToO would start. I'd also expect an Iron Banner pretty early into RoI release since it's an IB related expansion. RoI drops 4 weeks after the current Banner finishes and it's normally on a 4-5 week rotation anyway. So it's smaller than TTK but it's also nearly half the price. It's got a more content than Crota's End and House of Wolves. Still, with Dedtiny 2 probably a year away they're going to have to add something in the meantime to keep the hardcores happy. Festival of the Lost is back in October and Sparrow Racing Leage in December but hopefully they don't leave it until April to add any more meaningful content this time.
  16. I farmed a couple of decent rolls on the Grasp back when Omnigul was the nightfall. Despite its reputation I never really got on with it. Pulse rifles are my weapon of choice for my limited crucible outings but I always go back to Nirwen's Mercy. Something about that gun just clicks with me. Haven't played much recently, I've knocked out the occasional CoE but I've not really bothered putting much time in with the light level increase next month. Finally got around to pre-ordering Rise of Iron so I'll probably farm up some engrams and resources over the next couple of weeks but nothing major. You can never tell what Bungie will make obsolete when they release a new expansion. I've hoarded up a few exotic engrams just incase. They changed the way they worked with TTK. Determining the item and light level when it was decoded, not when it dropped. So there's a chance that, even if it's an old item, it might decode at a higher light. There's nothing they can turn into now that I need so worse case scenario I level the cryptach up with them when RoI drops.
  17. Mo Farah has gone and done it, he's won the 5k. With Bianca Walkdens bronze in the Taekwondo earlier, he ties Team GB up with Londons 65 medals. Joe Joyce is guaranteed a medal in the super heavy weight boxing final late today. Team GB will make a little bit of Olympic history and be the first country to win more medals at the following games after hosting them. It's 2 in the morning here, I need sleep. Edit: Team GBs Women's relay team decided they didn't want to wait 14 hours for the boxing match to beat Londons medal count and took a bronze in the 4x400.
  18. I missed the 100m finals. I had last week off work so I've been able to watch a bit of the late night stuff but it's back to work this morning so no more staying up late. The Cycling and Rowing have all been at decent times so I've followed pretty much all of that. Gymnastics too. Unfortunately I'll be missing most of the big athletic events though.
  19. Hell of a day for Team GB! Our most successful day at a non home games with 5 gold and 3 silver. First time we've had 2 gold in Gymnastics I believe and Andy fucking Murray with a 4 hour Tennis final! I watched the first hour, so damn close. Unfortunately I had work this morning so I couldn't follow it to the end. 10 more medals needed for their target of 48. No ones ever got more medals at the following Olympics after hosting it but Team GB currently have 1 more medal on day 9 than they did in London. Still, that's 28 more medals they've gotta find somewhere this week to do that.
  20. I remember Dong Dong from when i went to see the trampolining in London. Since we didn't have a GB guy in it last time the crowd sort of adopted him as our own for his awesome name. Hopefully Team GB can repeat 2012s Super Saturday tonight. Sucks that with the time zone difference all the big athletic events are at stupid o'clock in the morning over here. But I've been watching the Cycling every night since it started, the rowing and anything else I've had time for during the day. BBC are doing a great job with coverage our side of the pond. I don't think there's been a single event, no matter how small or random, that hasn't been up live on their website if it wasn't on one of the many TV stations showing it. At least everything I've tried to watch so far has been available.
  21. With the new Archon's Forge looking like it will replace it, they will probably let you cash them in for Eris rep like they did with the old House of Wolves items and Variks. Another thought, with each new expansion they remove the lasts public events. So aside from ones you get from King's Fall chests you wont be able to pick any more up either. That place is going to be deserted soon.
  22. It's a bitch tracking down the yellow bar Taken in the Rocketyard. Took me several attempts to find them all to get the big guy to spawn. It doesn't help that it's rare to be in there with other players. The Rocketyard is a bit buggy, especially trying to spawn in with other people, hence why so many have problems with the Taken in there. It's something to do with passing between The Devide and the Rocketyard too fast. It spawns you in your own instance instead of with other people. To increase the chance of loading into the Rocketyard with other players walk slowly between the too. It gives it more time to load and you've got more chance of having some back up. Same thing works for the Court of Oryx.
  23. For those of you that, unlike me, have had an Xbox One for longer than 5 mins, maybe you can help me out. I'm having trouble with backwards compatible titles in the store. A bunch of BC games when you click on them come up as 'currently unavailable for purchase'. There doesn't seem to be any pattern to them and if i log in on the PC and look at the store they are available to buy, they just don't work through the Xbox store itself. I did a quick google and there's a few comments about it but no reason or solution. Anyone else experience this? I wanted to scoop up Final Fight in the Capcom sale to relive my childhood for £1.68 but apparently Microsoft don't want my money.
  24. I see the power saver feature has returned too so i can finally hatch some eggs. I actually played this as intended over the weekend, as apposed to just occasionally looking at my phone at work or on the way to somewhere. Went to see a buddy of mine who lives in a fairly small village whos been playing it. We went out for an hour or so to hit up some stops and take over a couple of gyms. It's a lot more social in these smaller places. Anyone i see playing it around the city i live in are just eyes glued to the phone not paying attention to people. Over there though there were a whole bunch of people wandering around in the evening playing it, actually acknowledging each other. There were several groups of people at one of the gyms and it must have changed hands half a dozen times while we were walking around. We actually succeeded in taking over a couple. Despite my best Pokemon being around level 300 and the weakest defending a gym was over 700 i could just throw wave after wave of mine until it dropped. Made 20 in gold by the time we were done. We also did a little old school boosting too. We took over a gym at a pub we stopped at that was pretty much deserted and then just traded it back and forth by leveling a CP10 to defend it. Went on a lucky egg fueled evolving spree to boost my level some. Ground down all those Rattata and Pidgeys i had into food and force fed the survives into evolving to take advantage of the double XP. I'm sitting just under level 14 now.
  25. Finished off Dark Souls 2 yesterday. Looking back i still need to kill a couple of the optional bosses and I've not tackled the DLC yet but since it doesn't throw you straight into NG+ i can always go back and hit those up. I've got mixed feelings on it. It's a good game, there were parts i really enjoyed, i just wanted to like it more than i did. The combat never really clicked with me, to much defensive fighting and temptation to just snipe everything across the map with arrows. Some of the later levels are just tedious to get through rather than being difficult. I never really liked the Hollow/Human Effigy mechanic either. In a game that expects you to die and learn, adding a penalty for dying seems like a bad idea. I didn't have that desire to slaughter every boss, by my self, every time that i had in Bloodborne. I killed 26 bosses but probably 2/3 of them with summons. Hopefully the 3rd game doesn't have forced PVP either, another bad idea. I dunno, it just felt like something was missing in this game. Maybe i would have liked it more if i didn't play Bloodborne first. Maybe if i played this first i wouldn't have liked Bloodbornes style as much. Looking at some gameplay from the 3rd game it seems like a mix of Dark Souls and Bloodbornes play style so perhaps i'll get on with that better. I'll probably wait until there's some sort of Game of the Year/compilation version with the DLC before i jump on it though unless the price drops. Then i'll probably give it a punt.
