  1. Stroud going to be so banged up after this game, if they win he'll be in an ice tub all week.
  2. I'm sure you have feelings on the textbook hip drop tackle on the Texans player not being called. We can do this all day.
  3. I was shocked the Texans weren't flagged on the last pass for "going low" on Mahomes.
  4. Like I said, typical chiefs fuckery.
  5. Be a cold day in hell when I root for KC for any reason but I assume they will win via fuckery like usual. Rooting for all the underdogs. Go dogs.
  6. NFL has also done "better" (I realize there is a big luck factor) at having new popular stars to replace the ones leaving, which the NBA has struggled to do. When Brady/Brees/Rodgers (soon) retired if no other great players/popular players emerged maybe they would have struggled maintaining such dominating ratings (maybe not). Getting the ratings they do require people to watch beyond the team's fans, they have to have general appeal. But with Mahomes/Allen/Jackson the next wave is just as popular and putting on great games. Too early to tell what the next wave will be but surely plenty of protentional in the "under 26" crowd too. As long as the NFL keeps churning out exciting players that general fans of football want to see, people will keep watching. That doesn't mean I think we need year-round NFL but I don't think 18 games is excessive. And I do think players need to put their foot down about how many games in a two week period/how to schedule international games so its as fair as possible.
  7. If I was the NFLPA I'd agree to 18 games under the following conditions: A team can't play more than two games in a 13 day period (or whatever wording would prevent what happened to teams around the Christmas games) An extra bye week Expanded rosters Adding a game to make it 18 is inevitable but the players can still try to get something out of it to ease the wear and tear, plus having expanded rosters (say, add five players) will get more players NFL paychecks which would be a positive for them.
  8. Dragging up our favorite old thread not to discuss if ratings are GOOD or BAD but just looking at the new WBD/Max deal. Since AEW started streaming on Max for Dynamite and Collison, the ratings for Dynamite and Collison.... haven't changed. Yesterday's Dynamite in fact had its highest rating since October (679,000 / .18). I thought them doing the simulcast would impact ratings, maybe not a ton but something. But it doesn't seem to have moved it at all. This leads me to a question that I guess only WBD can answer - is no one watching the simulcast on Max, or did they pick up new viewers? For example, if say 50K people watch Dynamite on Max that would get them over 700K for the first time since September. If 5K (or less) watched it on Max, then it didn't do anything to improve their reach. It may take more time to determine, for example I still have Sling TV but I already cancelled it, it just hasn't expired yet. So it may take fans a few weeks or a few months to adjust their viewing habits. I just thought it was interesting the simulcast hasn't impacted the cable ratings at all, I suspect its because people just aren't watching it on Max enough to move the needle.
  9. "Following the Texans' wild-card playoff victory over the Los Angeles Chargers on Saturday, Johnson was visibly upset in the locker room. He was fully dressed sitting at his locker staring in frustration because of a lack of playing time and targets. Running back Joe Mixon and linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair tried to comfort and encourage him." Sounds like a total headcase, not sure why any team would be interested in him next year. Too much talent around to deal with how he seems to be.
  10. If Deion ends up the head coach of the Cowboys that would just be amazing.
  11. welp time to find something else to do, not a great weekend of football overall for fans wanting competitive games.
  12. I know losing by that much sucks but I hope Denver fans look at the positives. They were never expected to get this far this year with a rookie QB and with their cap situation, if Nix continues to develop and they use upcoming cap space to fill some gaps they could be a contender for years.
  13. This whole last drive is confusing, I don't know the purpose or advantage of it. Just run the ball, kill the clock, go home.
  14. All QBs throw floaters sometimes by mistake, I don't then Allen does it any more frequently then any other QB. It sucks but it happens. What a catch by Ty Johnson, jesus.
  15. I don't *like* that the Bills seem to always start slow and are a second half team, but it does make it easier for me to dismiss it when they have a bad first few drives defensively. The most encouraging thing so far is the Bills controlling the line of scrimmage on offense and protecting Allen. If that continues I think they will pull away by the 4th if they can keep Denver from matching score-for-score.
  16. I don't follow the Raiders enough to have an overly informed opinion but Pierce didn't seem to be a complete dumpster fire like Urban Meyer to only get one season and it wasn't his fault the Raiders didn't trade up to get a QB in the draft. And lost Jacobs. No coach was winning with that roster and as a first time coach they knew what they were getting and there may be some growing pains. And the thing is, what legitimate coaching prospect would be dying to go to a team like the Raiders or Jets, knowing they may not get a fair chance and the owners are part of the problem? So it just continues the cycle, they can only get mid or lower tier coaching prospects or former coaches desperate for another try, they fail, repeat.
  17. I agree with you, my only thought is they thought it would be such a happy "yay WWE" crowd that he would survive. I actually think people are giving too much credit to the location, Hogan has been getting boo'ed pretty consistently for years ever since the racist stuff came out, even at WrestleMania which usually is a more relaxed crowd. Its just time to leave Hogan in the past, fans have made it clear they will forgive/forget many things but Hogan is not one of the cases.
  18. I think one reason the thread is trending negative is there were people like me that only watch PLEs that thought 'hey the card looks good, new beginnings on Netflix, lets see what they do!' and then the presentation was somehow worse than usual. And I certainly don't mean to rain on anyone's parade as I imagine many of the regular RAW watchers probably enjoyed it, which of course is fine. But if WWE hoped to rope back in lapsed viewers, or PLE-only viewers, I don't think they accomplished their goal as I'm not giving them another chance. If I read reviews that this was just a weird one-off and future shows aren't constantly in promote-mode and focus mostly on the matches/stories I can re-visit but what I saw didn't fill me with hope of that happening.
  19. I just don't think I've ever heard the crowd as... confused as they were during The Rock promo. They were expecting some Final Boss shit or old school Rock and instead he... changes his catch phrase to be about Netflix, takes time to individually thank the Netflix Execs, says nice things about Cody, and leaves. It just makes me question who is making these decisions as clearly that wasn't for the fans or viewers, just bizarre to me and totally not what anyone watching wanted.
  20. I have no insider information of course but my takeaway from RAW is that Rock isn't wrestling at WrestleMania. Tonight would have been the night to start it, instead we got TKO Board Member Dwayne Johnson, not The Final Boss. Obviously there were several opportunities for him to plant seeds but he didn't, in fact he did the opposite. There were rumors he had movie re-shoots to do that would prevent him from getting into ring shape (which he says last year took eight to nine weeks) or maybe they just have something else planned but I'm 90% sure at this point he won't be wrestling. This is the first RAW I've watched in at least a year and look, I'm happy for people that enjoy this type of presentation for wrestling. I'm a firm believer in 'different strokes for different folks' and this is why I'm glad there are alternative options. 30% wrestling time over 180+ minutes of TV isn't my personal ideal ratio. I'm confused on why WWE management thinks the crowd wants to hear Rock change his catchphrase to praise Netflix or why the crowd cares about the gate size. The matches themselves were perfectly fine and left me with questions as it feels like Roman/Solo and Liv/Rhea were storyline-enders so I am curious where they go next. So no complaints there. I like most of the stories and wrestlers in WWE, and their production is top level stuff, its just the presentation that makes their weekly TV a slog.
  21. If I can't enjoy Rodgers being bad with the Jets next year, I'll accept as a replacement Rex Ryan being their coach.
  22. He was the most obvious one, right? I mean there are always a surprise or two (one way or the other) but Pederson seemed like a dead man walking most of the season. Three seasons is enough of a sample size, I mostly just feel bad for coaches fired after a year or two that had terrible teams no one could win with but the Jags seemed to be on the cusp at times of breaking through.
  23. Its the same quandary teams have had since the beginning of time. Players rarely have the leverage when they are unhappy but teams don't want openly unhappy players in their locker rooms. We just saw it last offseason, many said the Bills were dumb to trade Diggs since he had no leverage and he was their best WR but the Bills improved without him, imagine if they had grumpy Diggs all year. If in a couple months Hill still wants to leave they'd be wise to find a trade partner and just move on. But he also could get over it before then, WRs can be unpredictable.
  24. Darnold playing like Will Levis, its over.
  25. Is Darnold seeing ghosts or something, he does not look good. Like he is nervous or something.
