  1. Yes it was. We basically went through the motions and it wasn't fun to watch. In fairness Scotland have gotten better, but still...
  2. We're nobody's patsies now that Teddy Nolan is back! Rest of the league take notice.
  3. Went to Isles-Kings for $5 via StubHub last night (I gave my ST for the game to a friend). So I check the prices for their visit to Newark on Friday. Devils fans want $40 to see that. Devils are one of the most boring teams in the league, so I'll pass at that price.
  4. And, really, we're all losers when those two match up. Guess whose going to be in Philly next week for that one? The crowd may end up looking like one of the preseason games. And WELCOME HOME TED NOLAN!!!!!! He's just the type of guy we need running things, there aren't many who are better at getting the most out of the least him. I'm also relieved that Darcy got shitcanned because he was shopping me to a contender for their #1 pick in the 2014 NHL Fan Entry Draft (I have veto rights blocking a trade to Carolina, Boston and the Rangers).
  5. The mascots observing a moment of silence caused me to laugh and laugh.I need a picture of Fred the Red or Hoopy observing a mos to make my new avatar.
  6. I turn 36 tomorrow and I'm depressed at the thought I'll be past the big four-oh by the next time the Sabres are a competitive team :-(
  7. Fuck you with a barbed wire dildo for saying anything bad about Captain Kevin (my childhood hero)!
  8. FUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCKFUCK!!!!! Dear God please kill me #metroplayofffailure.
  9. And Robert's day just got a whole lot better. This move saddens me because as dirty as he was, he was still a Buffalo kid playing for his hometown team so I have a soft spot in my heart for him. I hope he makes the necessary changes and ends up back in the NHL.
  10. On one hand, the Emery thing where he fights a guy who clearly doesn't want to fight is bullshit. On the other I found the whole thing hysterical. Yeah, I'm a terrible person. But seriously, that was some Danbury Trashers level insanity (if you don't know about the Trashers, Google them).
  11. Who is/was worse: This years Sabres or the expansion Sens? Was at game last night (#16 of the year for me) and it was awful. Had stupid Rangers fans start crap with me because I was wearing a Gilbert Perrault Sabres jersey. People who go after visiting fans are (for the most part) cowards who only act because they have numbers backing them up. Told them the only reason they are here is because the coat hanger missed. And this is non NHL, but the Danbury Whalers are having their home opener and banner raising at the Danbury Ice Arena on Saturday at 7PM. If you are in the area and want to have a good time check it out!

  13. In a thread on MF entitled "A Middle Finger Salute to All Those Who Deserve It", Corey Vezina, the former longtime head of the ESC (he was the guy with the red ESC hoodie and glasses who (IIRC) brought the shield onto the field and was part of the celebration) posted this: Seeing guys who I've known since 2001 and have been going to games with (and especially those who were there before me) getting to celebrate was the most special part of the whole evening. The fact that every Sons Of Ben tifo is now residing in a Chester garbage can makes me even happier. I even got to touch the shield last night, the Curse of Caricola is dead!!!
  14. At least now we are even for them running and injuring Miller. I hope Scott did what he did just to troll Mike Millbury (AKA "The man who killed hockey on Long Island"). Him calling someone a talentless goon would be like Sean Avery calling someone unlikeable.
  15. As I said in another thread, anyone who wants to know why the Islanders fan base died and they play to a half empty arena should check this out. You will get a pretty good answer
  16. Game last night was a lot of fun until Canucks took the lead and went into shutdown mode to protect the lead, which made the 3rd period unwatchable. When the Isles scored the tying goal I completely flipped out in the way a soccer fan seeing his team score a late equalizer against a team playing to protect a lead would. Even though Isles lost in OT, I was just glad we didn't have to witness the Gary Bettman Skills Competition. Understand that teams play to win but as a fan looking for entertainment value, teams locking up fills me with hate, especially when a game had been entertaining until that point. Also, the 30 for 30 doc on John Spano debuted last night on ESPN and will be replayed tonight on ESPN2 at 9:30 eastern. I heard nothing but raves about it, and if you want to see why the Islanders fan base collapsed this will give you an answer as to why. And finally, can anyone explain why the Sabres are on NBCSN/NHLN so often? everyone knew we would be awful so why did the schedule us so frequently for national TV? Worst thing about it is no Rick Jeannerett.
  17. So it's come down to this: The biggest regular season game in Metro history vs. Chicago next Sunday, and it's at home. We win, we get Supporters Shield (our first ever real trophy) and the road to MLS Cup goes through Harrison. Tim Cahill is a legend at this point, and it would be so great to get that 1st trophy with Petkie as coach. Tickets in the supporters end are going for $200 on StubHub, but I wouldn't sell mine for all the money in the world. If we win, there will be an epic party. If we don't, this will be the new most soul crushing moment in team history. COME ON METRO!!!!!!!!
  18. They are but they have a bad habit of not playing a full 60 minute game. You can't do that against a team like Carolina and expect to win.
  19. Isles tell me today that they can't sell me a $79 tix to the stadium game after all because those seats are going to "charity". They offered me one for $140. I passed. I've already seen a game outdoors, I'm not spending that type of money for that. And if the Rangers tank I have a feeling those tickets are going to be sold at very reasonable prices on StubHub. Not to mention I'll be seeing Rangers-Isles at the Coliseum next week, and the atmosphere in LI will be far crazier that at YSv2.0. Will be seeing Canucks tomorrow in the latest leg of my "I see everyone on the board's favorite team" tour.
  20. $45? I'm guessing that's below face. So I'm also guessing the novelty is wearing off in the 'Peg? Below face value ($57). Novelty is still there, I think, just happened to be 10 tickets available on Stubhub today when I checked. Is that the Box Office face value or what the season plan holder pays per game? For example, in Philly a seat that costs $83 at the box office costs $38 for season plan holders? If the ticket cost the guy $35 as part of his plan then the price he sold at makes sense.
  21. $45? I'm guessing that's below face. So I'm also guessing the novelty is wearing off in the 'Peg? Finding below face tickets is pretty rare, but a lot of people that bought season tickets realized that there is a market to sell off some. I have a buddy who bought season tickets, keeps ten for himself and sells the rest off. As long as the Canadian dollar stays strong, that building will always be full. There's still 10 000 people on the waiting list for season tickets. OK. I was just shocked that someone could get a weekend game there for below face. Figured every ticket would be touted above face because of the demand.

  23. Was at Oilers-Isles last night. Place was about half full. Ran into some guys who flew in from Edmonton for the week. They were amazed that tickets were both cheap and plentiful, because that's not the case in Edmonton (or really Canada in general). Was told cheapest at Rexall is $100 which is even more insane than the Rangers (or even the Knicks for that matter). They were also amazed that even though the building was half full the crowd was surprisingly loud, which is due to the design of the coliseum and the low celling keeping noise in. They were also happy to learn that there are Tim Hortons in NYC (Tims>Dunkin'). As for the game it was quite entertaining with both teams getting plenty of chances. Hall scores 2 in 7 seconds, but Isles come back and Johnny Hockey scores the eventual winner at the end of the 2nd. Next game is this Saturday vs. Carolina. If there is one team I love seeing lose, it's them. When Karmanos dies, he should be buried underneath a urinal at the XL Center so the people of Hartford can piss on his grave forever. Hope I see Chuck Kaiton.
  24. Now we know why they call him "Jumbo Joe"!
