JULY 2020 WRESTLING DISCUSSION
Octopus replied to Dolfan in NYC's topic in The PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING
Speaking of owners on twitter Reading some of the comments is absolutely disgusting. In a birthday tweet about someone’s mother is not the time to spaz about wrestling. -

Dallas, Tx basketball team. If you prefer, feel free to substitute for John McCain or the Mel Gibson-Jodie Foster 1994 western-comedy, Maverick. -

I can’t wait for Tony Kahn’s future podcast with Conrad, 14 Weeks. -
Great write up, @Oyaji. I was trying to formulate how I’d compare AEW to 90’s AJPW booking and you phrased it better than I could and included newer Japanese booking.

The only big upset I can think of off the top of my head was Private Party going over the Young Bucks in that tournament. Edit: not to the same level but Riho beating Nyla was an upset.

I enjoyed the Taz segment But I was reminded of him with how Taz ends his sentences.

It’s 12:48am and I’m laying in bed, awake thinking about ice cream. I know my wife has a tub of vanilla in the freezer and we have Oreos on top of the cupboard. I could smash those up in a bowl with ice cream. But I know I won’t sleep again tonight. I think about food too much. Pre-married pre-COVID world me would have probably an hour ago went out for wings and beer. Buffalo wings and a big cold mug of Summit EPA. I do have beer in the fridge. A few wrongly poured growlers I got from my brother for free. Also some Rolling Rocks. I might even have a Hopslam left. Next to the ham. Which if I don’t want the ice cream I could make myself a sandwich. Not as bad as ice cream. It’s a 1am compromise I could make. I’m tired though. I’ve gained weight and I’m not active. If I do the ham I might put some hot sauce on there because I’m thinking of wings. Maybe I’m just afraid of sleep. I create these nighttime situations because I don’t want to shut my brain off. But I guess that doesn’t explain why I still think about food during the day. Maybe not as much though. Now I want ramen noodles and whiskey. I get winded going up the stairs. I should start jogging again. I just need to wear sunscreen when I do. My pale Nordic skin gets wrecked in this weather. Hot weather like this goes well with ice cream. I do have Oreos. I’m so tired and regularly ashamed of myself. I’ll make a sandwich.

That would be a cute-fun list: Top 10 WWF Hardcore Champions? -
I believe Havoc is in rehab so he won’t be on tv for a while. I’m excited for Lucha Bros to be back.
-
Yeah, he came off more like a happy old guy nodding his head. Very appreciative of the fans, doin the hits. Walk back and forth but not running. Haha.

@Curt McGirt, fantasy concert booking is always fun. Haha GZA was awesome. He saw a kid (teenish) was singing along and he brought him on stage to do a verse and he adorably was so excited. Here he’s doing ODB’s Shimmy Shimmy Ya. You can hear me yell “killllaaaaah!”

DVD/BR Collector Thread for the Physical Media Enthusiasts

Region Free blu is the next step for me. I have an old region free DVD that isn’t hooked up at the moment. I pretty much bought it because in an interview Godard said Film Socialism wouldn’t be released in the US. Then of course plays at a festival near me and a different theater AND releases on blu after I bought it. I’m a sucker. Got to see some Bela Tarr movies out of it though. -
I used to rarely ever go to concerts. Probably could count on one hand where someone took me to the show. Outside of Buckethead, which is one of my favorite experiences (saw him 4 times now). Then it just clicked and most of them were last year with a friend or 2. Kind of like a non-bachelor party lead up to wedding events with buds. I have no shame in going to a concert solo though. Immortal Technique sounded excellent. Chino XL was one of his openers. Scarface was funny in that he would start a classic and then stop halfway through and say “you kids don’t know that one.” He stood around and took pictures with people for a long time. He started hella late though and I had work the next morning. Very worth it though. Electric Wizard was playing at a venue with an inclined floor (like a hill) so head banging was tough but still managed. My favorite was Kool Keith. I’m a super mark for him. Shook his hand and told him his music meant a lot to me and he was very cool to everyone.
