  1. I liked what I saw of Kea. He always worked nice and snug, at least.
  2. I think it was because he looked kinda like skinny Abdullah.
  3. He also had a really great singles match with Ikeda that I can't remember the date of. But, hell, all of their matches are probably worth watching. I said it elsewhere but it's a damn shame we lost prime Otsuka years to MMA.
  4. In addition to apologizing privately to Sasha Sammy also made a public apology on his twitter. So that's good. Buuuuuuut, at the same time he was also liking tweets. Such as: So I'm more than a little skeptical about his sincerity. AEW has suspended him without pay and will re-evaluate his status after he goes through sensitivity training, so I guess we'll see.
  5. So my great-grandfather was kind of a high muckety-muck in the Texas Democratic party way back when and helped LBJ get some of his first political jobs. They later had a falling out that my grandmother would not directly say, but heavily implied, was because LBJ either screwed or tried to screw her teenage sister. Anyway, LBJ was a world-class shitbird and crazy person but he did sign the civil rights and voting rights acts and was pretty much the last president to even pretend to give a shit about poverty so I can't help but think of him somewhat warmly.
  6. Not really related to anything, but I figured out over the weekend that I had been confusing Jody Fleisch and Jonny Storm for 20 years.
  7. It's crazy that Texas had Ann Richards and then decided that they were only going to elect complete dumbfucks from then on out.
  8. Oh, I love some bullshit spotfest wrestling. The S.A.T. are one of my favorite tag tams! But there are only so many times I can watch Blade wander around between spots, or fuck up and try to repeat a spot before I have to tap out. Now show me a Ric Blade highlight reel that's just crazy spots and I'm in for that.
  9. New Glarus was basically just a "little Switzerland" tourist trap until Madison got bigger and the brewery took off. It still has that stuff but it's more of a normal 'burb now. They still do a Swissfest every year.
  10. There's never a bad time to post the highlight of Kidd's coaching career, but it feels especially apt now
  11. Yeah, that sounds about right for them.
  12. Oh, I didn't realize he had innovated it, I thought it preceded him, at least the version where the victim is seated. I stand corrected.
  13. Oh, I want to change mine to this. I assume it's a reference to the UFO/cattle mutilation conspiracy theories. But since it originated out of joshi it's possible she just picked an English name that sounded cool.
  14. One of the most inconsistent directors ever, but had a hell of a career. RIP.
  15. Don Frye would be way, way, way down on my list of "People I would deliberately fuck over" but WCW was a different breed. I never actually saw his NJPW stuff, was any of it good?
  16. Ok, Bart & Milhouse and Shawn and Marty is pretty great.
  17. Went down a nostalgia rabbit hole this weekend and watched some 2001 CZW and ICW. I do not miss having to hear every single wrestler cut a shitty promo on the shitty house mic. I had also forgotten Ric Blade's extremely comical hairline.
  18. Washington's Davis Bertans has decided to sit out whatever ends up happening in Orlando, I believe the first player to definitely say he won't be playing. He was probably the most obvious choice to do so as he's going to be a free agent and the Wiz had essentially zero chance of making the playoffs even with him.
  19. Man, you know what I would kill for that is impossible to find in Wisconsin, or at least Madison? Chicken fried steak. It is just not a thing up here.
  20. Friday night fish fry with beer battered walleye, fries, slaw, and a New Glarus is Wisconsin's greatest cultural tradtition.
  21. I appreciate that: different strokes for different folks. I just can't rock with it. If I'm ranking barbecue styles it's 1) Kansas City 2) Texas 3) Memphis and then the field. I'm also with you that I don't really like seafood. I didn't use to like any of it but I've grown to enjoy fish fry, crab cakes, and sushi. And conch fritters but that's not really an option in Wisconsin.
  22. Pretty much all southern food is awesome. Even stuff I don't like (like crawfish) I get the appeal of. Except for Carolina barbecue.
  23. Yeah, I think you're right.
