  1. Turf sucks. It's a pain the ass and can cause a bunch of injuries. I'd rather play on sloppy natural grass than the shit at BC Place.
  2. Sedins are the only one not getting dominated. They've done well this series but it's just not enough. And I guess I was out to lunch when Benning re-signed our worse forward to a four-year, $2.65 million contract extension. Holy fuck, I miss Gillis and his sweaty, droopy, smug face.
  3. Broken rib during practice. Sven Bärtschi for the win! Against his old(ish) team!
  4. Hmm, no Burrows and no Kassian. I imagine that Vrbata will move up to the first line, leaving our second line somewhere between FUBAR and very FUBAR. Doubts creeping in.
  5. They're going to clear out the old guard. Wilson, Joe, and McLellan. It'll be interesting to see if Marleau leaves too.
  6. That probably has the highest skill level and is at the highest tempo. Some of the board work was really incredible compared to the typical slog you see in the NHL.
  7. It's been okay but the only close game was game 1 and, as Charlie rightfully noted, it didn't have any playoff intensity. The two games with intensity have been blowouts. The OTT/MTL series has been way more entertaining but Ottawa can't win for the life of them. Shame 'cause I want to see more of that.
  8. How is it far fetched to think that Edmonton will ruin a 4th #1 pick in the past 6 years? When was the last great Maple Leaf high draft pick? Nylander played in Sweden and then came over to the AHL rather than wasting in the cesspool that is the TML. He put up great numbers in the AHL, rather than play on a struggling team mired in on and off ice drama. Hmmm, somebody could learn something from that!
  9. One thing that is awesome about shitbum Bieksa: SUPER ANGRY FACE.
  10. He'll be 34 next year. Not happening. Edit: Let the Sam Bennett wank train continue!
  11. As unpredictable and usually awful as Sbisa is, he's less damaging to Vancouver than #3. Every shift is an adventure (just as I'm typing this up, he's slashed Calgary's best player in the arm and given the puck away in his own zone) and his propensity to do the "I'M SUCH A BAD ASS I DON'T NEED TO TRY" routine of his has only gotten worse because in fact he's lost a stride, which he could dearly not afford to do. Also, what gimp box did Willie Desjardins hide Kassian in? He hasn't played in forever and there's no word on what's the issue. He was on fucking fire in the second half of the season and was our second best forward behind Horvat for a stretch there. I'm just taking these games as they come because I have no expectations for this team (outside of beating Calgary, which I still think they'll do in 7). They're a top 4 D (a Bieksa replacement) and a first line/second line tweener (or Kassian getting minutes and playing well) away from really contending. I don't think a team can do much when they've got Bonino AND Chris Higgins in the top 6 but then the team doesn't have a bunch of cap space with shitbums like Bieksa and Miller on the payroll. I hope at least one of those two are out before next season.
  12. For a reason. That goal was brutal. He didn't have a great deal of difficult saves to make up to that point other than the glove save late. Ottawa played their best game and it still wasn't enough. Sucks for them. Good on Tortorella for chasing Dale Weise (DUTCH GRETZKY) out of Vancouver too. Who wants a physical, good skating 4th liner with offensive upside?! Kevin Bieksa is awful and needs to retire. Or play for Toronto.
  13. Wow, brutal offside call there. Not even close.
  14. I missed the first half. Was it this bad of a showing from LFC? 'Cause the second half has been really, really poor.
  15. Well, the Ducks did outplay the Jets for 2/3rds of the game. Through two games, as close as the scores have been, the Ducks have outclassed the Jets and it always felt like they'd manage to win even when they were trailing in the third. And Andrew Ladd is brain dead. What was he thinking doing that? They've been roasting the Jets on the PP and you do that? At that time of the game?
  16. Yeah, they deserved three consecutive first overall picks. Because they're horrible. This is a different matter altogether. And don't dare them to fuck up McDavid because they just may.
  17. Can you even do that shit anymore? Aren't rookies glorified indentured servants?
  18. Ah well, they'll fuck him up too.
  19. Did I just hear correctly? Did Elliotte Friedman just say there's a chance of Mike fucking Milbury coaching the Bruins next year? PLEASE LET THIS HAPPEN! MAKE HIM THE GM TOO! Also, how clenched are butts in Toronto, Buffalo, and Edmonton? Fuck the Coyotes btw.
  20. Roman Josi will dominate. Interesting that he has a better corsi % than Weber when the two are split up. And don't backups often shit the bed after a really strong showing? I'm not being hopeful, nope. Not at all *nervous laughter*. Yay, Tank! Do the score! Much better energy from St. Louis.
  21. Holy fuck, has PJ Stock been on Sportsnet all year? I thought they gave him the boot... awe, shucks.
  22. It's just such a weird thing that's considered part of the game. I'm laughing thinking about that Richardson highlight. And I'm totally with you on how dangerous big contact sports are, such as hockey and football, in general. I just don't think you need to have that element part of it to take the danger to such a ridiculous level for guys that feel it's part of their job to drop the gloves (and therefore an expectation). I was listening to the radio when Ferland made contact with Lack after taking a run at a Canuck. Shorthouse was calling for Dorsett to come on the ice (insinuating he'd fight Ferland to deliver justice and teach Ferland a lesson). It didn't happen but is it voluntary at that point? I would argue only partially. Look at how many fighting majors Dorsett has this year (17!).
