I'm pretty sure they're going to turn Stat at some point soon. If they do, putting Kamille and Bayne with her as a team of jock bully powerhouses is definitely the way to go.

I was recently thinking how most tag teams nowadays are shooting for Midnight Express or RnR Express, but where are the Road Warriors or Skyscrapers of today? We need to have more teams of big dudes/gals just wrecking fools.

  2. I agree, @HarryArchieGus . I’ve seen all the best picture noms except Barbie (will see at some point), American Fiction (hopefully this week), Maestro (not too excited to see it, but open to it) and Zone of Interest (I want to see it, but need to find the right mood). I enjoyed all of the ones I saw. They weren’t all perfect, but they were at least all interesting. That’s a good thing, imo. This feels like some of the least “safe” nominees in a long time. I mean, Poor Things took home a few trophies and it’s batshit insane. Even Oppenheimer and KOTFM do some interesting things with factual stories. Between these and Dune 2, I’m more excited for movies than I have been in a while.

  3. I'm all for wrestlers saying no to stuff. There are numerous examples of guys who should've said no more. Paul Wight and Braun Strowman are two of the biggest, IMO. I mean, both did fine for themselves, but there's a world where they're spoken of as being special in the way Andre is. Well, probably not like that, but more than just another guy.

    Academy Awards tonight. My predictions.

    Best Picture: Oppenheimer.

Best Director: Christopher Nolan. Most invested in this one. If I had my way, this would be Nolan's third for Best Director.

Best Actor: Cillian Murphy, Oppenheimer. Nervous that Oppenheimer wins most awards but the face of it doesn't. Can see Paul Giamatti for The Holdovers. Hope not.

Best Actress: Emma Stone, Poor Things. One of my favourite actresses ever. Love Emma Stone. Hope she beats Lily Gladstone for Killers of the Flower Moon.

Best Supporting Actor: Robert Downey Jr, Oppenheimer.

Best Supporting Actress: Da'Vine Joy Randolph, The Holdovers.

Best Animated Feature: Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse but wouldn't be surprised by The Boy and the Heron.

Damn. Nailed it. If I decide to put money on next year's awards, I'm calling you first!

  5. AEW creative may very well not have anything compelling for Miro to do, but if he's turning down stuff and his ideas are on par with his stuff with Sabian and the CJ stuff from last year, then maybe he should listen?

its almost like The Rock has some of the best instincts in Pro Wrestling and saw which way the wind was blowing and went full heel

I do think they corrected pretty well, but I don’t buy that this is a “this was the plan all along” from anyone involved. I think it started with Cody as the plan (which was obvious at the Rumble) but then when the Vince stuff blew up, it was a “Hey! Stop talking about that! It’s The Rock! Look!” And they just inserted him in the laziest possible way and it backfired.

The weird route we took to get here makes sense to me now. Rock is beloved. How do we get him booed by the audience that view him as an all time legend? You have it appear like there's some backstage BS of him pulling shit ti steal the match from someone WWE fans genuinely love. Because heels doing kayfabe heel things don't make crowds turn on you anymore.

It worked. Heel Rock is back. Something fresh that we haven't seen in years. Now you setup the tag to main night 1. You have Cody win on Night 2. On Raw you have Roman attack Rock and kick him out of The Bloodline. And you set their Mania match up a year out.

Definitely not a straight line to get from A to B but it makes sense now. I've been big on thinking Roman is breaking the Bruno record. But you will burn the town to the ground so to speak if Cody loses again. If they go through with it I expect a Cody win. They wouldn't dare risk it would they?

I don't think they did that on purpose. I think they thought fans would be ok with Rock taking Cody's spot and were very wrong.

Santana got bad advice. Only way to say it. As for Ortiz, his best hope is forming another team. Maybe with TAFKA No Way Jose…

Bring in Bad Dude Tito and team Ortiz with him. Team Tito Ortiz!

Peyton Manning is trying to work out a deal with Bill Belichick to join Omaha Productions.

Should he succeed, the current idea is that Hoodie will join Peyton & Eli on the ManningCast of MNF.

I'd watch if Bill does the Manning Cast like he did his press conferences.

I will flat out admit I loved Jurassic Express as a team.  I feel those two have infinitely more value as a team than separate.

Babyface Jack trying to get Luchasaurus out from under Christian's control could be good stuff.

Also yesterday, Jason Kelce announced he will now be a full time podcaster.

That's good. There aren't enough white guys with beards who podcast.

Had my heaviest fall when out today in a while. When I do I jar myself but thankfully don't bang the back of my head/break something. Ironic timing as I have a friend with Cerebral Palsy and he fell three days earlier.

Glad that wasn't any worse than it was.

  13. We'll see how things go tonight, but I'd say this last Sting run has been waaaay better than I would've imagined.

So, where do we put this in the pantheon of old man runs with a promotion?

I have to think Funk's ECW run is the standard. Is this #2?

It's 2024. I'd say there's more value in fan perception and brand trust to having AEW treat a legend on the level of Sting properly than to have him put over someone established on the way out.

Exactly. This isn’t the “fuck the fans for being invested in this story” promotion. End the show with a Sting send off and worry about the title stuff on Wednesday.

All these stories about meeting big guys makes me wish I could find the picture my friend and I took with the Giant back when he debuted with WCW. Yes, I'm a short woman, but good lord his hand was like the size of my entire shoulder blade.

When I was in college, a friend and I were at the mall in Champaign. We went into whatever Sam Goody to Sam Goody-like record store the had there at the time. The clerk ran up to us as soon as we walked in, and said, “Do you guys watch wrestling?!!?” We said yeah. He said do you know who The Giant is? I remembered that WCW had a house show in town that night. Clerk went on to tell us how The Giant had just been in there. Said when he shook hands with him, his hand engulfed his whole forearm. I asked the clerk, what did he buy? “The City of Angels soundtrack.” Paul must’ve loved him some Goo Goo Dolls.
