A Wrestling Year (1986)

Recommended Posts

Since I will be thirty this year, enjoy writing about wrestling and wanted to focus my ideas in terms of what I covered, I've decided to start a project were I will cover a large selection of the wrestling TV that was aired during 1986, the year I was born. WWF, NWA, CWA, Mid-South and AWA will be the main areas I cover.

The first post is up - http://tvtimelimitremaining.co.uk/a-wrestling-year-01-01-1986-07-01-1986-part-1/ as I watch action from Mid-South, CWA, WWF Wrestling Challenge and NWA World Championship Wrestling.

Please look and comment - this is quite a big project, so any interactions will be most welcome.

Your summary of the Hillbilly Jim/Cousin Luke squash on Wrestling Challenge pretty much gets over how I think everyone views matches with Hillbilly Jim and Cousin Luke.

James

The skipping knee lifts by Luke were particularly awful.

The second part of the second week in 1986 includes a Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Title match and an odd squash featuring George Steele and Moondog Spot.

I've found some CWF on my computer, so the next column (possibly tomorrow) will sweep up the first two shows of their year.

Landell, Mantell and Dundee ARE Memphis, whilst Arn Anderson shows why a Mulkey shouldn't punch you in the mouth.

NOW WITH TWO ADDED GIFS! Watch Bill Dundee double foot stomp Tracy Smothers off of a chair, and Dennis Condrey legit KO a jobber with the help of Bobby Eaton.

Not related to the project, but here is an article where I began to chart who the 'real' world champion is.

Similar in vein to the Unofficial World Cup Champions, I'm looking at who would be champion if every match from when Chris Jericho won the Undisputed Title in 2001 was a title match, and titles could change hand on DQ/Countout.
