  1. I think it is safe to assume that most Americans* don't know dick about slavery, or worldly affairs. America is too busy hating on the Black folks here to give a rats ass about what foreigners are doing. *This includes Black Americans
  2. I always enjoyed Douglas' work in ECW, but after he dropped the strap to Taz, he had a fire lit under his ass for that short run as a babyface before he bolted to WCW. That match against Credible is fn amazing, and the crowd was on fire for that. Douglas & Credible were just laying the chops in in that bad boy. Justin Credible is someone we have kinda looked over a bit in this discussion, as he is generally considered a subpar or boring guy, but he had a ton of good matches against a wide variety of guys, and it wasn't because they were all carrying him. Credible had really good matches with Lynn, Sandman, Dreamer, Douglas, and the Impact players were awesome no matter who they were against. People were fired up because he went over, but the matches w/ Sasuke were good. I didn't like his matches with Sabu though...
  3. What is considered Candido's best match? I think the lack of Tajiri/Crazy talk is that the consensus is that the Mexican Death match was each man's best ever.
  4. As far as ECW went... Like I said earlier, I think Rhino got the best out of Sandman. Lynn got the best out of RVD, Credible... RVD got the best out of Sabu Sabu got the best out of Taz... although I'll listen to an argument for Bigelow. I think the Dudleys got the best out of Dreamer. I can't put my finger on who got the best out of Douglas in ECW... was it Scorpio? Bigelow? Pitbull? Funk?
  5. I know he is a lol busy running AAA, but what about Konnan as head of creative? What about Jeff Jarrett?
  6. I like Tara as a worker, and I like watching her (nudge nudge, wink wink), but she wasn't doing much, seemed not to care, and was probably getting paid well for a KO. Seems like a solid release. Doc... I don't get. This is a *prime* guy that they should have snatched up and given a solid push to, and instead they have him taking a backseat to Gary Bishoff and pulling jobber duty. Joey Ryan was another missed opportunity too. They obviously signed him for the Gutcheck angle they did with Snow, but they didn't have much for him after that. They tried a few different roles with him, but never stuck with someting. He is at least as talented as Robbie E (fwiw, I like Robbie E). Matt Morgan is a guy that had a lot of potential, but has never lived up to it. Glad to see him move on, because someone else should get elevated into his spot as the "athletic giant". I think the other release was Taeler Hendrix.... dfc.
  7. I liked that match, but I think Angle's best match is that Royal Rumble match against Benoit. Probably will get a ton of heat for saying this, but I liked the Lockdown cage match against Joe more too. Actually, all three of the original Joe matches are crimminally underrated. Where does Rock vs Brock from Summerslam rate as far as either man's best match? I agree that Vader gave Sting better matches than Flair... but where does Muta rank agaisnt Sting? What is considered Vader's best match? Is it the dome match against Hansen? I personally rate Vader vs Kobashi better. Which guys can you argue Joe gave their best match? Punk? Aries? Kobashi? (lol, j/k) Angle? I've decided that Mookieghana is the fn Bill James of wrestling.
  8. If you're like me, Austin vs Bret from WM13 is the best of either man's career... although their earlier Survivor Series match is a better technical match. During his peak though, Austin was not physically what he had been... thus a lot of schtick & promos. FWIW, Hall & Nash had quite a few really good tag matches early in the WCW run, especially against the Steiners & Harlem Heat.
  9. You can argue the werkrate part of it, but Foley's "best match" will always be Hell in the Cell against Undertaker.
  10. Well, with the Horsemen at least, they came together at a time when Flair was already the NWA champion, and the other Horsemen held gold. Tully was the US Champion, which was Mid-Atlantic's top title, and the Andersons were the National Tag Champions - the top tag titles in the NWA. The idea wasn't that the Horsemen's goal was to keep Flair champion, it was to get all of the top main event stars in the NWA in one stable... obstensibly so that Dusty could book himself over all of them. When the initial purpose of the Horsemen was over (Dusty beating Flair at the '86 Bash), the "goal" of the goup pretty much switched to holding all of the belts, and keeping the NWA belt with Flair. The kayfabe purpose of the group was that the champions got the best paydays from having title matches and working in the main events - and the Horsemen were always in the title mix because of excellence. As someone who grew up with the Horsemen and watched it evolve, I always understood that Arn was Flair's best friend, and it was in his best interests financially to make sure Flair stayed the champ - thus he was the enforcer. Arn was Tom Hagan, they guy that did the dirty work. I always saw the Bret-Owen rivalry as the polar opposite end of the spectrum - where two people that could have had the world as their oyster if they worked together, couldn't put away their sibling rivalry and fought instead.
  11. JBL, Rey Misterio Jr., Dean Malenko & Octagon* all had their best match with Eddy Guerrero. My pick however is Benoit, because he brought out the best in so so so many guys midcard guys while in WCW, and then had a crazy run in the WWE. You could argue that Liger, Angle, Snow, MVP, Regal, Sid, Booker T and a slew of others had their best matches with Benoit.
  12. In theory. I never really did that though. I tried to just wash those types out early so the guys that wanted it weren't held up by them. I always thought it better to turn out a few quality guys, rather than a bunch of shitty ones. I know, fuck me, right?
  13. That is my feeling about TNA in a nutshell. The roster is loaded with talent, it the show is entertaining almost in spite of itself. If someone was in charge that knew what they were doing, it would be amazing. The best workers should always be heels, because they lead the match. It is hard for a babyface to lead a match while taking the heat.
  14. Wouldn't one of Devitt & Anderson be liekly to finish pretty strong in this thing? Devitt's turn and push in the Heavyweight division was for more than headlining one PPV. I don't think he is winning, but I can see him being a final four, or perhaps just miss the semi's due to a tie or something. As for Anderson... he was the runner-up last year, and if he is gonna be Devitt's "Enforcer", then he would be kinda logical to lose in the final again, and then set-up Devitt for a match with the G1 winner as head of Bullet. Just throwing it out there.
  15. Two different things here. First, most wrestlers that are passionate about the business watch a shit ton of wrestling. They just might taper off watching current television wrestling. Most good wrestlers will go out of their way to watch as much of the shows that they are on as possible. Especially on the indys, a lot of guys almost watch too much of their own footage, because they start picking up on things they do that maybe no one else notices. It is a fine line. Maybe a lot of guys in the WWE watch less, but that is understandable because of the travel and what not. But a lot of guys do watch from the curtain, or monitors in the back. The second part is kinda associated with the following quote: This is where the "I don't go to shows I'm not booked for" attitude comes from. It is okay to be a fan of wrestling, and to love the buisness, but at a point you have to stop acting like a ticket-buying fan, and acting like a professional. If you wanna watch Raw, no one is gonna give you any grief. However, if you watch it and wanna talk about how awesome something was or whatever, then you are gonna get ribbed for being a mark. Furthermore, at one point when I was running a training school, I had training on Mondays & Wednesday nights. The backlash I got from guys wanting to be pro wrestlers but having to miss Raw was ridiculous. In turn, I have known guys that have turned down bookings because they had tickets to WWE shows. Even worse, I know a lot of guys who bitch about being light on bookings, but then go and pay to attend other local shows in their area. To me, that is crazy and unprofessional. I know to a civilian it might seem odd, but wrestling is an odd business, and thoughout its history, it is built on secrecy and tradition. It is easy to say "Kayfabe is dead, those old ways are stupid and from a bygone era".... but look at how the business is now. You get out what you put in. Yup, usually. If you promote, hire solid talent, and use logic, things should work out.
  16. I changed from NWANikita, because back in the old days when I got that handle on here, it was my AIM handle. And I was wrestling in multiple NWA promotions. On both versions of the board, I have listed who I really am in my sig... this screename is my twitter handle.
  17. This is 100% the desired reaction of the WWE system & style, and that it what they strive for and send guys to development for. The WWE doesn't want wrestlers to work a crowd and draw a reaction, they want the crowd to react to what has been written, and the "superstars" just play the role they are given. This is why they have developmental, and why they have production scripts and so forth. They want guys to work the camera, and for Cole & Lawler to tell you how to react. Part of this is the eradication of managers. Part of it is also that anything that gets an "unauthorized reaction" gets either buried, or repackaged in an effort to control it for the purposes of containing reactions. Examples include Zack Ryder, Fandango. I back this 1000% I quit watching WWE a decade ago. I might check things out of I hear they are worth seeing, but nothing WWE puts out is "Must See TV". So many fans seem to have this attitude that the WWE belongs to the people, and that they have some kind of rights in the whole matter. I call it "bitch & watchsyndrome", where they watch Raw every week and bitch incessantly about how awful it is, and then turn right around and watch it the next week, buy tickets when it comes to town, and make vacation plans to attend WM. The WWE doesn't give two shits about you if you support the product blindly, because that money is as good as gold already. This is why they go after the fringe fan, and book Rock at Mania, or bring back Lesnar, or have Snooki & Maria Menuonos win matches on PPV. They want the money that they do not already get. Your voice as a fan is with the wallet, and if you support a shit product, you get a shit product.
  18. Are we excluding any *real* songs, and only counting custom made stuff/songs actually performed by wrestlers? Badstreet USA - Michael PS Hayes Psycho - Konnan & the Mad One Girls In Cars - Robbie Dupree Sabu's Theme - Harry Slash & Slashtones My Baby Tonight - Roaddogg/Jeff Jarrett
  19. I lurk at r/BigBrother a bit, and the consensus seems to be that Judd is the "cutest" looking guy in the house, so he is going to poll well with the ladies. Howard is pretty much over with everyone, and I would be shocked if he or Helen don't get the MVP this week. If Elissa gets it again, its a work. This year is a weird dichotomy in the house. In general, all of the girls are very attractive, and most of the guys are below average in looks. However, all of the girls appear to be DTF, and the guys are all taking advantage of it, for the most part.
  20. For those unaware, AMC has been running marathons of Breaking Bad late Friday nights, starting from the begining. They are mid-season two now, but if you are thinking of jumping in and don't have Netflix, it is at a point you can still catch up relatively easily. Five episodes airing late tonight. Agreed. I loved how weird & out of touch that chick was. When she was telling that dude his wife died and her only "bedside manner" was offering him water (in his house) was the best.
  21. This x 1000. How are the fans at fault for recognizing a guy they had seen before? It is laziness in the continuity dept. from the WWE. Granted, the smarks could suspend disbelief and enjoy the show too. Wrestling fans are always shitting on the product, and in return they get shit back. WWBWD? - What Would Bill Watts Do? This is why you don't buy a ticket and attend shows - it is unprofessional.
  22. If I were not retired, I would somehow get this embroidered on my ring robe.
  23. Hey everyone! Big ups to Dean & Rippa getting the ol' girl back on her feet. Changed my username from NWANikita to SovietShooter, since that's the Twitter handle and whatnot.
