  1. Man, the Acclaimed really represent how fast tastes change these days in pop culture. A year ago they were one of the most over acts in the wrestling business. Now, I don't care if they show up at all. There isn't a real reason to pinpoint for it, either, they just kinda got stale real quick. It also doesn't help that Caster has kinda slowly show via social media that he is actually not a likable guy.
  2. Maybe that is exactly why he was an issue in AEW (allegedly). He took shit while in WWE because he had no other options. But when he left, he decided he wasn't going to do anything he didn't want to do anymore, and just vetoed his way out of a push.
  3. Even if you don't want to use that piece of human feces Don Callis, a mouthpiece that helps unleash the beast that is Mortos would be phenomenal. What's Jeff G Bailey up to?
  4. As that beat down was going on, all I thought was "man, this is how you write off a couple guys leaving the company". I really hope they don't saddle Wheeler Yuta with them... but that seems where we're headed.
  5. This is a great example! Starks is alright, but would you rather have him, or Okada? You could kinda say the same thing about Adam Cole, and Jay White. I think Adam Cole is a solid worker and has a ton of charisma (that hasn't always been showcased properly, IMHO), but Jay White is probably better, and has just as much charisma. I mean, Bang Bang Gang > Undisputed Kingdom
  6. It's interesting... when it became clear AEW was a viable product, one of the first things people did was look at who was perceived as being underutilized in WWE, and wanting to see those guys get a shot in AEW. And for every success like Swerve or Danielson, you have a Miro and Andrade. It just goes to show that sometimes the promotion/booker/company isn't the problem. Some guys just had bad luck with injuries... Cole headlined the first Wembley show, so it is hard to call his run a failure, but it is hard to call it a success either. Keith Lee's run was short, but it was really solid; If this was the territory days and he came in for a run like that and moved on, I think it would be classified as a success... but by today's standards it is not. And guys like Wardlow and Starks... they're kinda victims of AEW's success. Yeah, Wardlow cannot stay healthy, but he also never really showed much progression. He has been eclipsed in his role by guys like Big Bill and Hobbs. It probably is time for those guys to move on, and see if they can get a fresh start.
  7. No, I think you got it. I think most of us on here understood this. But I think to people that are used to their angles being spoonfed, they can't wrap their head around something just being heavily implied.
  8. Yeah, what they should've done, before the Mox/Darby confrontation, is have Daniels or someone announce that because of the attack, Danielson was not cleared to wrestle at this time. That would've cleared the way for Darby to put his title shot up against Mox, because he wanted to wait until Danielson was healed up. Then they could've just had Nigel do his bit, but lean a little more into saying that he knows Danielson isn't really that hurt, he is just a coward.
  9. Yeah, there is a reasonable chance some of this is pivoting, but I think more than anything they made an assumption the fan base would connect the dots that Nigel was only challenging Danielson because Danielson is not cleared to wrestle on that event, and they did not.
  10. I think it is also important to remember that Collision is going up against College Football, and the numbers will be markedly down until the season is done & dusted (so, until December, mostly). It would not surprise me if Collision any kind of storyline progression is left off the show until CFB wraps up. It may just me Dark-esque matches for the sickos.
  11. I like Deeb well enough, maybe more than most, but that match last night was a turd. Lots of awkwardness. Since this was taped, I'm curious how edited down it actually was.
  12. Back in my day, the NWA promotion I worked for in Pittsburgh was constantly going back to this well. It is so simple and effortless, but it gets old so quick... it's lazy booking. I really hope that whatever Mox is doing here, it isn't a "protecting my spot" angle (although I think that is probably what direction that the Bucks are headed to). I'm getting a sense that Mox's motivation is more about "protecting the business" and "keeping it serious", but we shall see...
  13. Because of his reckless risk taking style, Darby can be a short term champ. Like, he could pull off the win against Danielson, and then on Dynamite lose the belt to Mox after being thrown down a staircase or something, and no one would think Darby was weak. And if Darby truly doesn't have an ego where he wants to be the champ or whatever, then he would probably relish a role like that. Like, when it is all said and done, I can see Darby being like a five time AEW champ, but his total title reigns adding up to like 90 days. The money is in the chase.
  14. Back when I was working, I was taught that there was a legit heirarchy for headbutts. Samoans were at the top, and trumped everything below. That was followed by any other ethnic minority, followed by "madmen", followed by any "foreigner". So, if I was in a match with Samu, I would sell a headbutt like I got shot in the head. But if I was working a regular white dude, he had to sell the shit out of mine, since I was a diabolical Soviet. Yeah, pretty racist, but most ethnic gimmicks are.
  15. Takeshita was clearly feeling snubbed when Fletcher was buttering up Ospreay, as he has tagged with Fletcher a lot recently... but later on they clearly were setting up Okada/Takeshita, so maybe it won't go anywhere... but Ospreay/Fletcher vs Davis/Takeshita could be a series of ~bangers~.
  16. Or just like, all the pennies every bank in Lexington had. Fill up that bulldozer scoop to the top, and dump it from real high to get a waterfall effect...
  17. I think you might have it inverted; Nigel thinks Bryan is injured and unable to compete, so he demanded this match to make him look like a coward when he does not show up to face him at Grand Slam. But then when Bryan does show up, Nigel will have to actually fight him. Advertising the match (which might actually move a few tickets) and then not doing it would be some bait-n-switch bullshit.
  18. Just gonna leave this hear to marinate... Roddy is married to Marina Shafir, who helped Mox try to murder Danielson mere days ago...
  19. I will enjoy seeing how the mouth-breathers try to explain how this deal actually would hurt AEW and cause them to go out of business faster, if this is the case.
  20. This is a fair observation. Especially when their competition is known to propagandize such incidents for that exact purpose.
  21. I didn't even realize it when I quickly made that list, but all of those incidents and the fall out from them happened on regular television... and in some cases were taped (not live broadcasts). The difference with AEW in this case, is this was on a PPV - so no one was just stumbling across this flipping channels, perhaps with children in the room. You had to opt in, and pay money to see this. And I'm pretty sure, at least in regards to Swerve/Hangman, they really hammered on the "My god, what will these guys do to each other this time?!?!?” aspect. So, like, what were folks expecting to happen? I mean, there were folks in here (myself included) saying "I hope they just have a bloody cage match, and don't go all deathmatch with it", so we all knew this was a possibility. Yeah, everyone has the right to feel it crossed a line to them, no doubt. But let's not pretend this stuff was out of left field. Personally, I don't think TK signed off on any of this stuff if the TV deal isn't signed, sealed, and delivered, FWIW.
  22. To play Devil's Advocate a bit... what about Eddie Gilbert running over Jerry Lawler with his car? Was it just wrestling continuity when Terry Funk used the bag on Flair? What about Raven crucifying Sandman and stealing his wife & son? Tommy Dreamer piledriving various women? Pouring beer on Scott Hall? Kevin Sullivan spiking Wing Kanamura? Bad News breaking The Stomper's son's neck? Where is the line, and when is it crossed?
  23. Also, Stat kinda pushed the table over, and as Willow slid off of it, her lower legs went back under it as it tipped. Everyone is very lucky it didn't snap both of her legs.
