  1. I did something like that last night. I pulled my car in front of an armored car, put a sticky on the back to open the doors, and the explosion took out my car. I don't think I got any loot from it either. Tried to do one of Lester's missions where you have to land a helicopter on a roof while a firefight is going on to get security plans. Yeah, fuck that mission. Wasted too much time and money calling in rides on Merryweather helicopters and killing the pilot so I could steal it.
  2. Beat the single player last night. Last missions were not very tough but were still fun. Still have quite a bit of side stuff to go through so I will still be playing this for a while.
  3. No that wasn't a dick move. A lot of people leave cars around LCS or Simeon's as bait. The fucked up thing is that you got bad sport points for that because you destroyed his personal vehicle - even though he tried to run you over in it. Happened to me the other night.
  4. Pedal bikes are just for screwing around in free roam. I want to take mine up Mt Chilidad sometime. The latest update is live:
  5. I hole up vs trying to drive off because 1) the in car aiming is not very good 2) the enemy AI is pretty stupid and you can usually get them into choke points I haven't encountered a mission where there is more than one reinforcement wave, some of the waves can be pretty big though.
  6. I had to do that the other day just to get enough for a can of Sprunk :b I think I did that mission you guys are talking about last night. I used a sniper rifle to take out the gang members on the boats and then waited and sniped the reinforcements. That is the big strategy to use no matter the mission. Whenever you grab what it is you're supposed to steal, usually it triggers a second wave. It is much easier to find a good place to set up and take them out rather than trying to drive and shoot them all at the same time, either if you're solo or with a crew. There is only a finite of enemies that spawn.
  7. Comparing this to WWE 2K14 is the old apple and oranges argument. There seems to be a lot of fans of the WWE games, but they got old to me a while ago. Though to be honest, I barely watch wrestling anymore besides Raw once in a great while (the switch to TV PG killed it for me) so I don't have any interest in a new wrestling game. The last one I bought was 2009 and that was because I got the collector's edition on clearance - and I am fine popping that in once in a while to have my CAW beat up HHH. I think most people in the thread are playing more of the online than single player - though single player is very very good, I am enjoying it much more than GTAIV, which (even though it is a very good game) I found to be a slog in parts. There are very few slow parts here and Trevor is one of the best GTA protagonists ever. For myself, I am set up to hit the last heist - trying to steal a train engine with a helicopter and then land it on a flatbed while it was raining was pretty tough. I did Base Invaders pretty much by myself last night. One guy died on the way to the plane and quit, and the other two didn't get into the plane. It was my first time playing the mission, so I didn't really know what to do. I got lucky and managed to kamikazi my plane so it took out a couple of the jets, and the soldiers were really not much of a problem once I found a place with decent cover where I could use a sniper rifle. A flight out with a stolen Cargobob back to Trevor's netted me a fairly easy $25K.
  8. The Triads have been around the film business for a long time. When he was trying to get out of his contract with Lo Wei, Jackie Chan got visited by some Triads trying to "convince" him to stay with Lo. Jackie called in a favor from Jimmy Wang Yu, who used his own influence with the Triads to get Lo to back off. During all of this was when Jackie went to the US for the first time to make movies like Cannonball Run so he could wait for the heat to die down. Sometimes it can get quite nasty. Probably the most notorious incident was when Carina Lau (the wife of Tony Leung Chiu-Wai from Hard Boiled and Infernal Affairs) refused to work with a specific producer, who called in Triad goons to kidnap her. The kidnappers took pictures of her naked and bound, which were sold to a Hong Kong tabloid, who ran them on their front page. There was kind of a "wink wink nudge nudge" aspect to the Triads being involved in the film business, but that turned the corner on that aspect and things have cleaned up at least somewhat.
  9. I think you can only store one through glitching. My garage is in the sticks and I've never seen one driving around. Maybe it'll be part of the Beach Bum DLC.
  10. It wasn't actually Triads that attacked him, it was shop owners that were upset that the street was closed down for so long. Many film productions in HK actually use Triads for crowd control because the government is stingy about giving out shooting permits and set security. The Triads usually pay off local shop keepers as well.
  11. Haven't played much this weekend but I did finally pass level 10 on a survival. Had to finish it on my own with a sniper rifle vs a helicopter. #feelsgoodman You can't sell any of the super cars or most of the sports cars. A good class of cars to sell at LSC are coupes. There are some that net 8 or 9 grand.
  12. It might just be the servers. The last time a patch was issue, it was hard to get online before it came out. I don't have a 360, but can you use any USB thumb drive? Because you can get them dirt cheap. I got a 16GB one to back up my site a couple of months ago from Radio Shack for $12.
  13. "The check is in the mail, I promise." http://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/article/51636/grand-theft-auto-online-update.html
  14. I think it would be fun if the single player and offline were integrated more. I thought you were going to be able to come across Michael/Franklin/Trevor just roaming around. It would be cool if you could use your online character as one of the heist crew - there is usually one throwaway person that never really does anything, even talk. So it would be fun to have your online guy be put in there and it would be a good way to raise their stats and get money.
  15. I think if all you are playing is the online, it might be easy to get burnt out on. I am still dividing my time between online and single player, so I am only really playing online for maybe like an hour a night, so it's still fun to me. I had a good run on racing last night with my modded Elegy, to the point that people were rage quitting and accusing me of cheating (lol). It was nice playing with most of the people in the group though, as we were actually racing versus griefing and causing crashes. I made enough to throw some mods into my Bati and assault rifle, so I thought I would try soloing Martin missions. That was not a good move. I lost a lot of cash between hospital bills and ammo. On single player, I am getting ready for the last heist. I missed out on my opportunity to kill Michael's shrink though.
  16. I don't do any of the jobs for Simeon, Lamar, or Gerald any more. Just too much work with amost no reward. Especially Simeon's car retrieval ones, what a pain in the ass. Good on ya. You're doing Los Santos a solid. I need to learn to walk away (by throwing on passive mode) because I'm terrible at fighting back. I try to get back on griefers, but sometimes the good/bad sport gimmick puts me off. Case in point, the other night some dumbass kept trying to run me over with his car while he was blabbing away on his mic. I throw a sticky bomb on his car, which causes him to call me all sorts of homophobic slurs. But then I get the bad sport points. Um, oookay... I totally forgot about the bounty hunting, so I hope I can go back to it. One of the Trevor strangers mission strings is for the Minutemen and you do get a stun gun from that.
  17. The stats on the Social Crew site are screwy. Sometimes there is a long time (like a day or two) for anything to update. I placed 2nd in a deathmatch last night and probably would have gotten first and a better K/D ratio but there were some people in the 70s in the group (I'm 26) and it was a map I haven't played before. But, yeah, deathmatches are not a good way to make money because you have to spend a big portion of your winnings to replenish ammo.
  18. The cops do seem more aggressive than in the past couple of games - they get trigger happy real quick even on a 2 star level. But they are not nearly as annoying as on Vice City, which I just replayed. Those guys sit and kamikazi their cars into you. The best way I've found to lose them is to either go offroad (in the city, this means going on train tracks or to the ravines) or go on a different height level. Also the construction sites and homeless "camps" are good for losing heat. I think also if you turn off your lights when you're hiding it helps, but that may just be a placebo effect.
  19. I feel your pain. I was so broke after modding my Elegy and buying a Bati that I had to rob a store to get cash to pay for a can on Sprunk so I could get health back. I am really appreciating the discount on ammo and other stuff I get from the special edition.I'm doing better cashwise on the single player side but I am far from being able to afford the high end properties. I am waiting to finish the last heist (which I think I am close to) so I have the most cash possible to invest in the stock market via the insider trader knowledge of the assassination missions.
  20. I deleted the iFruit app from my phone. A neat idea, but bad execution. It started crashing constantly. I made some changes to my cars but they take forever to appear in the game. At least now I have custom plates -- and a free can of Sprunk :b The Chop game was beyond useless to me. I have 2 dogs at home, I'm not gonna spend my free time cleaning up a virtual one's shit.
  21. If someone is in a job, it will specifically say so. If there is room in the group, you will be given the option to spectate. The offical line is that the message usually comes up because the server the person is in is full (ie, has 16 players in it already). But I think the servers are still wonky, which is why they haven't released the stimulus money yet. They don't wanna give it out only to have it get eaten up by a glitch. The matchmaking in this game is kinda shitty. Probably the best thing to do is to start an invite or crew only session, start a job/race, and then invite people from the crew to join. If you want a quick way to raise your level and cash, try and find a session of the Criminal Record race. If it is set to 1 lap, the race is done in under a minute and even if you finish last in a group of 8 you will still get around $800 and a few hundred RP. A lot of people are still grinding this race and will keep repeating it over and over. Also don't forget about robbing stores (will be around $1-2K per store) and selling cars to Los Santos Customs once an hour - the better cars will net around $8-9K.
  22. If you are looking for a Balla, do one of Gerald's missions. Usually the guys holding the coke or whatever you need to steal will have one. You can sell them at LSC for $9K a pop, which is the real payoff money wise of those missions. I think Dom is this game's Zero. So fucking annoying, both the character and the missions. Where is a helicopter at the Los Santos airport? I needed to get one to get to the top of the Maze building so I could parachute onto a moving truck with Dom (blech) and I couldn't find one. I ended up stealing a medical copter from the roof of the hospital I was sent to after getting into a firefight with the cops at the airport.
  23. The iFruit app is finally out for Android. This would interest me more if 1) I had any money to mod cars (blew all mine last night modding a Peyote) 2) I had any interest at all in training Chop. I've never played/used him outside any of the story missions that require it.
  24. You have no idea how happy it makes me we are on the same side.So I've been trying to figure out a way they can make heists a bigger deal, and I think I got it. You have to be a minimum level 40 to participate for starters. Before the mission starts. You get a choice. Low Risk: Mission is played as usual. High Risk: If the mission is successful, and you survive, you get 10 times the take you would have got. If you die, you are dead. You have to start back at level 1. That's a terrible idea IMO, no way people would be risking characters they've spent 20+ hours on. Getting to level 10-15 is pretty easy, but level 40 is a pretty big time investment, which is worth way more than the money.
  25. That's a big difference versus just spawing by yourself into a random server. If you've played a group of missions with people, they're usually cool. But most of the random people on here (like most games) are total fucking 12 year old tards and just run around griefing people or yelling racist/stupid shit into the mic, bascially any bad online player cliche you can think of. That is why I go into invite/crew sessions, or, if I do get put into a public server, I live in Sandy Shores, so there's usually no one by me. BTW you can deposit money to your bank account from your phone, it's a lot safer than standing by an ATM waiting to get robbed.
