  1. Yeah, even the shit that doesn't work is good for a laugh. The cargobob/firetruck thing didn't actually work, but it was a hell of a lot of fun anyway. The stuff that does work - car bombing a train or doing the tanker truck/bicycle bomb - is even better. We need to try loading a tanker truck with sticky bombs and dropping it from a cargobob.
  2. "No plan survives first contact with the enemy" - paraphrased from Helmuth von Moltke the Elder "I have never had a plan of operations." - Napoleon "Okay, once Rippa and I take out the guards......Goddammit, Dan, we are not doing Titan of a Job again...." - JT The cool thing about heists is how they make us focus on getting our shit right. The stealth part of the 3rd heist had some serious coordination going on with Dan, melraz, stout and me - not exactly the most focused bunch.
  3. Everybody knows the best way to break into Ft. Zancudo is to do that jump by the highway in an ambulance with 3 guys standing on the roof. Lets the army guys know you're serious about this.
  4. A few more that I recognize: Anthony4286 - think he's one of RUkered's buddies yingyangmonkey - gotta keep Private Pyle on the team.
  5. Spring break, man. We're just too old to remember what that's about. Bunch of folks took off from work this week is the only reason I know.
  6. I should be on, but probably not till late. Did some freemode on Saturday. Ran into a bunch of the new vehicles. The Insurgent is a tougher nut to crack than I thought it would be. I'm not sure how many hits are required to destroy the damn things yet. I hit one with multiple RPGs, and didn't see any indication that it was any worse for wear. Also ran into the new jet and the bigass Hind helicopter (guessing that's the Hydra?). The jet didn't do anything, but the chopper got me once.
  7. I really can't imagine how awful the stealth mission at Humane Labs would've been with randoms. Wit my luck, I'd get stuck with StickyBudz420, xXxEliteSniper69xXx, and FishNuts.
  8. I got extremely lucky with that shot. I missed the guy twice , then hit one step before he disappeared from view. Also, if I'd have known your dad was watching you play, I would've swapped to a classier bikini than the pink polka dot.
  9. Yeah, if anything, the third heist was even better than the second. Stealth section was frustrating as hell at first, but might have been my favorite part after we figured it out. I'm not sure how much different freemode will really be. The only armored car I saw blew up within 30 seconds of me spotting it. Does the new jet have auto lock-on for the rockets on ground targets? If not, I doubt it will be a game changer. The conspiracy theorist in me thinks that they nerfed the heat seekers to make them a lesser threat to the jump jets. Gotta sell those shark cards. Yeah, JT is gonna love the stealth section. We were useless till we figured out we had to synchronize. Then they stood no chance. We were all feeling the pressure not to let everybody down on the finale, especially after we figured how far back the restart point was. The ground crew wiped twice. There were a lot of blind corners, and they got us once. The second time was because neither melraz or I noticed the rebreathers. melraz went in the water first, so he drowned just before I would have. The one thing that I did notice was that we should've told that douche to piss off and sold all the vehicles we stole instead of doing the heist. Prices at Warstock totaled nearly $8 million for all that shit, and that doesn't even include all the Lazers we stole. Payout was $675K. And, yeah I think it took about 3 hours. We could probably do it in about 1 1/2 to 2 hours on a replay, now that we know what to do. Possibly helpful hints for anybody trying that mission
  10. Yeah, I was in freemode for five seconds and there were nothing but Minigun Rebels, Buzzards and Tanks on the streets. Pretty sure the armed rebel will be be a Pegasus vehicle, rather than one that goes in your garage. The Insurgent (big-ass armored car with a turret on top) definitely is. Melraz bought one of those Insurgents last night. The gun on that thing kicks ass. No auto lock-on, and a slow rate of fire, but it packs a wallop. Half a dozen hits will turn a buzzard into a fireball. Unfortunately, we found out the hard way (twice) that the gunner can fall out of the vehicle. I ran into one Insurgent in the very brief time I was in freemode after the third heist. I was all set to blow it up when some other asshole did it for me.
  11. It's mostly gonna be night shift hours for me, till maybe next Tuesday. The baby is giving his momma a hard time right now, and I'm not crazy enough to tell her I'm gonna skip out on baby duties for 3 hours during the evening to play GTA.
  12. Oh, I'm right there with you on garage space. I think I've got 1-2 spot free. I can get rid of my second mesa, that I use as an ignition bomb trap, and probably the sports car that came out 1-2 updates back. And this is gonna sound stupid coming from somebody that's been playing this as long as me, but how do you buy snacks?
  13. Oh I definitely agree on this. You have to be really careful, and you have to communicate. It really brings something new to the game. I never really care if I die in regular missions, but this is very different. I went through about 4 armors shooting my way out of that damn prison.
  14. The second time we did the mission, I know Stout accidentally hit the weapon wheel the second time. He was taking it really slow, so I doubt he ran, especially the third time. We just started shooting everything we could see as soon as they gave any indication something was up, and that worked out. One other thing we noticed. There is a preliminary mission for that heist where you have to steal a civilian car. It made it much easier to have two of us in that car, rather than having the second guy in a chase car. The new in-car shooting scheme worked wonders.
  15. Stout and I both bought armored Kurumas. They cost 560K, I think, plus maybe 400K in upgrades. I love driving it though. Only downside I see is that I can't throw sticky bombs out the windows. We didn't need to buy anything special for the prison break heist. Did unlock several vehicles when we finished it, though. Sounds like Stout already bought one of em. That heist is amazing, though there was one REALLY frustrating part. I keep making the mistake of thinking I need to lose the cops at the end of the heists. For the first two, I just had to drive somewhere and the structure of the heist took care of that problem for me.
  16. Heists are really not conducive to being able to sleep or logging off early. Of course, it would've been best to have started the second one before 2 AM.
  17. The firehose thing isn't a bug. It's a feature, damnit. Gang cars were selling for more than twice their value. I sold one for 3x what I would normally have got for it. Noticed I kept getting a bunch of trophies last night. I missed most of what Lester said we were actually supposed to do, so every time we started something, I'd have to ask somebody what the hell was up. Also, if you thought Lester was creepy before, you were wrong. You were so wrong. New vehicles unlock after the missions that include them. I spent about 900K buying and upgrading one. Made a good chunk of that back, though. I'm gonna have to make a bunch of money, because I want a lot of these things. Already blew up several of the new cars in freemode, of course. We did a bunch of the new vs. missions. Those seem really badly balanced for now. The attacking team won every round of the 5 or 6 we did. Maybe they would get better if we played enough to learn where to hunker down, though I doubt we'll play enough to find out. First heist is basically My First Heist. It's two players only, and there's not much to it. It's more of an introduction to heist mechanics than anything else. Second heist is damn fun. The finale really does require a shitload of coordination/communication. I figure JT is gonna eat that up. It took between 2 and 3 hours to complete, I think, though that included a few wipes. Team lives in heists work different than missions. You start with either 1 or 0 team lives. If you start with 0, everybody has to stay alive throughout to complete the mission, instead of just one team member. Definitely makes you be much more careful, and really adds something to the game. Also, frequent use of body armor is your friend. Freemode was more peaceful than normal, we did manage to find a decent fights. I even managed to get myself surrounded by 5 dots at once, though it took a lot of work pissing people off to get to that point. At least I got to kill midgetkicker a few times. There was a constant barrage of heist invites from randoms throughout. I really can't imagine doing these things with randoms. If I get on today, it will probably be late.
  18. I don't think your actual owned clothes make any difference in how you will dress during the missions. There are certain themes/possible selections. I didn't own anything I wore during the two heists last night. Also, that second heist we did was about the most fun I've in this game, even if there was one really wonky point in it.
  19. I saw that and kind of wondered what they meant. I understand the longer reload time, but how the blue hell do you reduce the firing rate of a rocket? Make it fly slower? (For the record, I have never denied being a dumbass.) I'm betting they've increased the time it takes to lock on to a target.
  20. Got on for a few minutes at lunch to make sure the update had happened. Saw something about drive-by controls changing. Need to see what that's about when I get on this evening. Hoping the flaregun will actually be deadly, unlike the old gas can.
  21. Time to apply for a loan at the First National Bank of Stout. Be sure to pay on time. You don't want to meet the collections guy.
  22. Somehow, this is still Jeff Fisher's fault.
  23. Mine is mostly the release XBOX headset, with a few parts stolen from the one that came with my newer XBOX a couple years ago.
  24. That's the great thing about Saint's Row. It actually would be a Flair gun.
  25. Gathering a crew that can complete all of the heists in order without losing any lives. There is the ten million dollar issue. That's gonna be awfully difficult. Personally, I've somehow become worse at missions than freemode. Not sure what that says about the level of competition we've been facing recently. Anyway, I've started the update. Hopefully it will actually finish by the time I'm off work. I should be around quite a bit tonight.
