  1. Exactly. I think for a certain demographic of the manly men who post here Sammy represents "obnoxious young guy" while some of the rest of us have much less trouble recognizing Andrade as "bully who picks a fight with the guy in the room he knows he can smack around".
  2. https://images.app.goo.gl/QWWepD9PLJqXGQcFA Turns out it was Unforgiven 2002, not the Rumble. Either way I have absolutely zero recall of watching this show beyond his cameo.
  3. He was backstage during a video segment romancing Dawn Marie (I think). I just remember he gives D'Lo and someone else some tight-lipped advice about a gentleman never giving away his secrets and as he walks away D'Lo goes "Damn, some guys have ALL THE LUCK!!". I've been trying to find it on YouTube for ages but nobody ever seems to upload it. Holy crap I did find this tho: https://youtu.be/FZdsOOW1mjE
  4. Remember when Eric Braeden showed up at the Royal Rumble the one year? I know he's a pretty grouchy guy but if you could get Victor Newman as an on-screen wrestling character even just long enough to build to some kind of ppv payoff...that would be the ultimate "male soap opera" or whatever.
  5. https://www.out.com/sports/2022/10/05/wrestler-anthony-bowens-wants-you-celebrate-national-scissoring-day Out wrote a nice piece about NSD. They should give Bowens an eliminator match against Moxley just to gauge exactly how over he is.
  6. Yeah when I saw how small the Coca Cola building was I figured getting affordable decent seats (let alone three together) would be a dogfight and sure enough it was so I bailed out early. Glad it didn't work out now that the lineup is out, not that it wouldn't have been fun night if good seats weren't nutty $$.
  7. If you could somehow align Swerve with Cargill so that Swerve tries to interfere at Battle of the Belts but gets thwarted by the Acclaimed and then Willow wins with the Doctor Bomb and the Acclaimed and Willow all have belts and celebrate as the show goes off the air you'd have a real moment on your hands.
  8. I wonder where Dustin's head is at these days between Cody leaving and all the chaos backstage. As an older guy who worked for WCW during nearly all its worst eras plus Vince at his looniest I could see him being somewhere between "oh god not this again" and "ehh I've seen worse".
  9. Thought it was a hell of a show tonight. Main event had weird energy in that Garcia didn't turn and the crowd clearly had access to their phones re: hating on Sammy even more than usual but it was a fun enough match. They might be overestimating the appeal of Danielson vs Jericho...if you count tonight's tag they'll be having their fourth match since All Out next week. I take it Rush was cool with losing clean so long as he got to dominate offense the whole match. Confrontation at the end ruled. I'm not a big Hangman fan but he really needs to look strong after his wonky trajectory since losing the belt. Kind of wish they were saving him and Moxley for a ppv. Hayter love was tremendous but I was even more heartened by the deafening DEEB chants. Willow getting the win was good too. Battle of the Belts should...maybe be the title change? It would feel like an anticlimactic end to Cargill's reign but with Statlander out there's no obvious person to take the belt. If it's done right and the crowd is hot it could make Willow in one night.
  10. He balanced on the top of a ring post to complete a flip.
  11. They are both idiots are now because of them I have to watch PAC twice in one night and I hate PAC.
  12. I lol'd. This place is too much.
  13. One of the many reasons I think Starks should be world champ within the next two years is he's the only guy in a country filled with guys doing dumb poses who actually seems to have understood the purpose and value of a signature pose and how to get it over.
  14. I agree with much of the above in theory but let's also keep in mind that NXT is no guarantee you'll learn how to navigate acting and promos. Kyle O'Reilly (to go with an extreme example) has great looking offence but his acting and facials are from planet x and his promos are some of the worst in the business (with the lowpoint being his "falling over drunk on champagne" bit when him, Cole and Fish were celebrating after stealing all the belts).
  15. I hope the Sammy tweets are a shoot because as a work it's almost more embarrassing. Put over one more time that a bunch of your guys are unhappy, dysfunctional, fighting backstage and looking for work elsewhere.
  16. Fish also had really good matches with Danielson and Sammy when he first came in. To me, he's always been guilty by association to the other two insufferable goofs. On his own he's a solid hand.
  17. Is Morishima still in really bad shape? His cancelled return in 2018 was very sad and given that he hasn't tried to come back again since I'm presuming he's done. Still, if he had one last good one in him and they could make the crowd care, I feel like the current iteration of Jericho would be an ideal opponent (that is, faster and more agile than Morishima but also not so fast and agile that it would immediately expose how busted up Mori is.
  18. I keep wondering about this myself. I definitely know a guy from my high school days who unironically thinks Blackpool Cuckold Club is "amazing". It will be interesting to see how much of that fanbase is out there and how hard they push to make MJF a legit alt-right babyface. I kind of think the success of, say, the Acclaimed suggests that the audience is generally a little more progressive than that, but by contrast we've seen Cody and Brandi and then Sammy and Tay all turned hardway heel largely due to a very bitter and pathetic incel mentality running through the sections of the fanbase, which becomes hard to shout down when it takes over a live crowd. I was thinking about this specifically on Wednesday when the crowd shut up while Menard and Parker talked but wouldn't let Anna Jay (whose heel character is a hoot!) get a word in. It also doesn't help that you have more middle of the road guys like Meltzer talking about how he's conflicted about AEW confiscating transphobic signs. It's one of the reasons I think they really need to get behind the women's division right now and start putting 2 or 3 women's matches on Dynamite a week, even if it's in part just a litmus test to see what the scumbags in the audience will tolerate and how pervasive their presence is ATM.
  19. Andrade posted this to instagram; https://www.instagram.com/p/CjISaszuz_d/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= Not sure if the link will work here or not but essentially he's doing the crotch chop, mentions a "great conversation" he just had on an "amazing day", gives out some of his contact info and then hashtags "freelidolo". One of the (several) reasons I think Tony should scrub his product of all WWE references (all the JAS stuff, Saraya referring to the "revolution", MJF talking about them explicitly to get heat, etc) is that he already has unhappy guys on the roster who are going to publicly do dumb stuff like this anyway.
  20. Not to mention Jaime Hayter making the save with her incredulous "BRITT. BAKER. ....it doesn't rhyme with 'shit'!!!".
  21. I don't know if it's been mentioned yet but is Matt Hardy supposed to be a goof on HHH now? I e., stealing guys back (contract tampering) because they're unhappy with Andrade? I hope not because they're already doing too much on-screen WWE baiting as it is but it would be funny if Matt starts calling himself "The Puzzle" (get it instead of The Game).
  22. They should sign Bandido and stop bringing in NJPW gaijin. Aside from my admittedly biased view that Ospreay, Juice, Jay White and Aussie Open are all just 5 different variations on the same extremely shitty wrestler, more objectively they're also 5 different versions of a lot of guys we already have in AEW (Hangman, Cole, PAC, Jungle Boy, Lucha Bros, etc). Bandido brought a unique presence last night, and he connected with the crowd on an emotional level akin to "you are extremely likeable" as opposed to "we pop because you do contrived shit". He would fit in perfectly with the big personality guys like the Acclaimed and Darby and Dax and Ricky Starks and Orange Cassidy, the guys who are really the "heart" of the AEW midcard.
  23. I actually didn't hate Saraya's promo although I kind of anticipated being in the minority on that front. I think it was pretty evident from the whole layout of the show that they are experimenting with longer talking segments and more specifically trying to use Saraya's arrival as a way of re-presenting the women's division as something more organized/purposeful and maybe get it out of the slump it's always been in. The crowd didn't shit on Saraya's promo so I think she's got enough goodwill right now to keep going in this role of rallying the babyfaces against Baker and the heels but...I mean, I also fully acknowledge the awkwardness and mediocre delivery of a lot of the segment. It did make room on TV for people who don't usually get TV time like Ford, Blue and Nightengale, and it was the first time ever I can recall a long talking segment leading directly into a women's match. So both of those aspects I would call positives --- shaping a "bigger picture" of the women's division outside of the 3 or 4 biggest names and also doing more promos so as to have fewer cold women's matches. I think if they keep going with this direction (more women on tv, more women having longer live talking segments), but also keep doing a lot of necessary tweaking along the way, it could really help. But if it turns into an excuse to let Saraya talk a lot because she isn't cleared to wrestle and nobody gets over because of it then yeah it's a problem. FWIW I thought Baker had more snafus than Saraya during the segment. She got flustered during the Hayter chant and ad libbed the dumb line about Hayter coming for the title next week which gave away the finish (not that anyone really thought Deeb was winning). Also since we're ranking worst segments, I want to go in a different direction and suggest that Juice Robinson has the second "worst face" in wrestling, only after Baron Corbin and slightly before Kyle O'Reilly.
  24. That mural on TK's wall is hideous
  25. I (very) reluctantly agree. Deeb is probably my favorite person on the roster of any gender but it's too soon in Storm's run to even think about beating her (even though I don't think she's especially good). That said, they should just say (kayfabe or not) that Rosa's return is indefinite at this time and thus Storm vs Deeb will now be a decision match rather than an interim title match.
