  1. Hopefully it wasn't bad enough that it made you want to cut off your own head.
  2. Meanwhile, in the Women's T20 Would Cup, Australia looked mortal against India. They still won their semi final by five runs, but it will give the winner of today's Semi Final a glimmer of hope that they could actually pull it off on Sunday. Also, it's always good to see Joe Root doing well.
  3. Maybe we should. England's Test cantered to a win in New Zealand, Stuart Broad having one of his periodic spells where he makes grown men look like they don't know which way up to hold their bats Meanwhile, let's check in on Steve Smith: ((Full disclosure, he also got Australia's third highest score in the second innings with a mighty Nine.))
  4. Referees (rightly) have the latitude to interpret what is and isn't Holding on the night, so if the one in the first half wasn't a penalty, then the one in the second wasn't a penalty and vice versa. It sure as shit wasn't the time to throw the first Defensive Holding call of the game and I say that as someone who thinks that not calling penalties in finals when it would ordinarily be is the Coward's Path. If I was going to bitch about refereeing, based on the game, I would start with the catch rules and continue with Delay of Game.
  5. If someone could tell me how the Miles Sanders "drop" wasn't a catch but the Goedert "catch" was, I'd really appreciate it. But then, I thought after the first quarter we just weren't doing defensive holding today, so I clearly don't know what's going on at all. Still, great game, but for the end. If Hurts doesn't get MVP, then just bin the award and make it Best on Field like the gods intended.
  6. I thought we were friends, but you had to bring that up.
  7. The hosts probably would have cantered to that total if they had another actual batter...
  8. After Steve Smith said that beating India in India would be bigger than beating England in England; it is with a smalll smile that I note that Australia were bowled out for 177 in the first test, Mr. Smith himself second-highest scoring with a mighty 37. It's entirely possible that India are playing the same game of Spinny Buggers they were playing when England came to town in 2020, doing their level best to play every game on a sandpit. Meanwhile, the women's T20 World Cup starts tomorrow. South Africa have decided to drop their captain, Dane van Niekirk, because she didn't run a 2K quick enough. Australia's women didn't take their lone defeat in 2022 very well and have decided to poach Ireland's best player. Actually, Kim Garth had already withdrawn from Irish consideration a few years ago when she took up a full-time contract in Victoria and has just now qualified for Australia on Residency.
  9. Baseball purists have allowed not one, but two teams to spell "Socks" with an X for far too long, so those people can shut all the way up.
  10. I'm more worried about the way that someone has been able to write "Court of Roger Goodell" like that's a thing that we, as a society, should allow.
  11. .\_/. Me and Sean Bean are going to wind up falling out over this one.
  12. 1). Yes, 120 balls each way. 2). No, the overs don't end with a wicket. The situation you described, the batter would have to go sit down and feel like a prat for the rest of the innings, but his team wouldn't lose out any further by facing fewer balls. To answer a question you didn't ask, overs can only be extended, and that happens when a bowler bowls a delivery that isn't legal.
  13. Well, they don't need to go so far to shoot.
  14. Not really sure how you'd get that idea, considering the first post includes obvious picks like BRYAN DANIELSON, MISAWA, LIGER, JAGUAR, HOKUTO, and BRET. While I take your point, it certainly seems to me that nobody needs to justify any of those picks in any great depth, because approximately anyone should be able to appreciate the people in this list. Even the people who only liked wrestling for five seconds back when they were kids can get on board with Akira Hokuto bleeding everywhere and dropping Shinobu Kandori on her head. Trust me on that. For my own part, I'm way more interested in why some bloke I might have accidently saw on grainy-ass VHS footage and forgot about is actually awesome and how I was a fool for forgetting about him.
  15. It seems to me that is not a thread for the All Time Greats, this is a thread for the John Tentas and the Asian Cougars of the world. Even Bayley. I am a great fan of my esteemed colleague's Nitro Review Thread, yet I feel compelled to tell him to GTFO with that Bayley Talk. she's the best of the NXT Four Horsewomen by miles as either a face or a heel and while she may well be my favourite WWE wrestler of the last ten years - mainly for the reasons advanced by my esteemed colleague - I don't think she belongs in this thread. With that in mind, Peter Avalon is my contribution to this thread. At a time where the OOC drama of CM Punk vs. the Elite and rumblings of MJF talking for more than two consecutive minutes have worn my interest in Pro Wrestling away, something about Pretty Peter cheers me up immensely. He's got a ridiculous face, a ridiculous body and a ridiclous gimmick but since he has more charisma in one of his nose hairs than the the current World Champion, he brightens my day up just by thinking about him.
  16. England bowl out Pakistan for 216 and are going to try and chase the 167 they need to win tonight. At the time of writing, they would need 8ish runs per over based how long they've got to the close of play, they're running at a little less than 10. There would be two full days after this. EDIT: England are slowing down as Pakistan bring on the pace bowlers, but still cruising.
  17. Ahh, I see. Cricket hasn't had such a monumental shift in the rules since the introduction of the Leg Before Wicket dismissal in 1774.
  18. Looking at this list, 35 seems a little fair, although I can't help but notice that all those games took place in a five year span, some of the other games on the Lowest of All Time First Class/Professional Cricket list go back as far as 1877, and some of them as recent as 2018
  19. The only discussion of who is and isn't a draw that I've ever been invested in was a post on this August Message Board declaring that he either didn't watch or didn't want to watch that week's Impact because Sting wasn't beating people up with a baseball bat. "Not a draw, my ass" were his exact words.
  20. Imagine getting clatttered for 15 in the power-play before you even got to face Rashid Khan.
