  1. This Bosh news sucks, that team was all of a sudden one of the most interesting teams in the league. Bosh was their best, most important player, and I don't think they can be legit contenders without him.
  2. But wouldn't that same thing be accomplished if a Borderlands or Evolve ended with: "Summary - Holy hell! This game is great!" And then we wouldn't have all the bullshit of "IGN gave this .01 point higher than this game! How much did EA pay them???" that we have to now. If I'm between games sometimes I just go to IGN and look up reviews and see what games have 8.0s or higher. For the most part I know what games are out there, but every once in a while something slips past my radar and those numbers help. I use them like I use Rotten Tomatoes, there are plenty of movies I'll watch no matter what, but there are plenty I check out because the reviews surprised me. I would have never seen Edge of Tomorrow, but I noticed it had a 90% on Rotten Tomatoes, and I loved that movie. Doing away with them because people are stupid takes away a fairly valuable resource for me. I'd much rather ignore the stupid people, than change the system to shut up their stupidity.
  3. I don't mind review scores as much as some, but I generally only care about scores of games I'm marginally interested in. Evolve is a game that I had heard about and followed a little, but hadn't decided whether I wanted to play it or not. The scores started coming in and I decided to actually read a couple of the articles to see exactly what it was that they liked. Without those review scores, I probably wouldn't have read the articles to see if the game was something I wanted to buy. I really like the game and it is something I probably wouldn't have played if the scores didn't pique my interest. I think Borderlands is the ultimate game that I would have never played if there were no review scores. I hadn't even heard of the game before the scores came out and then I realized it was right up my alley. The scores serve a purpose, but they shouldn't be looked at as the be all end all of how a game is judged.
  4. Assassins Creed Unity got terrible reviews across the board, because the game didn't work when they shipped it. Say what you want about whether it is a good game now that it has been fixed, but that is pretty inexcusable.
  5. I guess, but if that dude told me water was wet, I'd dip my toe in to see.
  6. I'm not saying RGIII, McNabb or that fat bitch Haynesworth are infallible. I just wanted to know how Shanny is getting a free pass for being an egomaniac. The fact that people are looking at his comments and thinking they could have any bearing on reality is just plain silly. That dude lives in a world where he is smart, and every other person is fucking dumb. He spent his whole time in D.C. telling huge whoopers and expecting everyone to believe them. Why the hell would anyone believe anything that dude says?
  7. Goran's complaining about standing in the corner all the time. WTF does he think will happen in the triangle where, EVERY SINGLE TIME, the point guard goes to stand in the corner? I don't think Goran's complaints have anything to do with basketball and everything to do with not wanting to live in Phoenix any more. He asked to go to all of the teams that are nice places to live, but are not contenders.
  8. Is he the oldest assistant in the league?
  9. Wait, how did we get to the point where RGIII is a bigger egomaniac than Mike Shannahan? Mike Shannahan got hired by the 'Skins and was clear from day one that he was the smartest person on earth according to him. Do you guys not remember the whole Haynesworth thing, where he tried to claim that Haynesworth took money that he was contractually obligated to get? He would have got that money even if they had cut him, but Shannahan tried to spin it that he stole money because he didn't go to voluntary workouts. He went out of his way to alienate the highest paid player on his team so not only did they have to overpay that asshole, Haynesworth refused to try just to spite him. Then they traded for McNabb, who was a shell of himself for sure, and he basically called him too dumb to play quarterback. Any decision that wasn't his decision was automatically a bad decision. Any player that wasn't his idea to sign, he immediately gave up on, even when they didn't have anyone close to replace him. He should have been fired in the first six months of his tenure with the team, and he really should have been fired when his record over the same amount of time was equal to that of the immortal Jim Zorn.
  10. I didn't think they did, but they were both listed on the roster at basketball-reference.com. I guess I should have checked game logs.
  11. I don't think the comparison is that simple. The NBA has changed a lot since Iverson led the Sixers to the Finals. There has been a huge talent influx, and a shit ton of more thought put into how teams are put together. Melo was seemingly better in Denver because he played for a team that was put together intelligently. That team with Melo and Iverson as scorers, Billups as the leader who could reel them in if they got too crazy, and Nene and K-Mart doing all the dirty work fit together in a way that made sense. The Knicks are one of the dumbest teams in the NBA, their strategy seems to be throw money at players who have decent names, with no thought whatsoever on how they would actually play together. You cannot compete in the NBA in this day and age if you only have one all star caliber player, especially if the team around him doesn't compliment him at all. The NBA revolves around pace and space, a style that Carmelo Anthony should excel at, except that the Knicks don't have a point guard worth a damn. He can't use his full skill set because there is no one else on the team who can create with the ball. Melo is one of the most gifted scorers in the league, but without a point guard (or competent coach) he essentially has to create everything for himself. Instead of getting a decent point guard they spent their entire slary cap on Amar'e and his bad knees, and Andrea Bargnani. The Knicks suck because they never got a point guard in a point guard driven league. There is no one to break down the defense, to set up the offense, or be an offensive threat that pulls the defense away from Melo. Melo should be able to post up, make corner threes, and be on the receiving end of pick and rolls, but there is no one to throw entry passes, drive and kick, or dribble around a pick.
  12. Iverson wasn't bad the year or two they played together either, but neither guy was anything close to being at their peak. That team getting to the Western Conference Finals is probably the best evidence of how good Carmelo Anthony can be if surrounded by a decent supporting cast. That team was pretty good, more because they were well coached professionals who had seen it all than their individual talent. I'd say that J.R. Smith and Tyson Chandler were better that one year in New York where everyone pretended that they were title contenders than A.I. or Billups were as individual players.
  13. Carmelo is not going to be fondly remembered, but he is clearly one of the best players of this generation. His best teammate ever is either J.R. Smith or Tyson Chandler. When your best teammate is either a defense only big man or someone who's career numbers on Sundays are terrible because he can't stop partying, you won't win many championships. I don't get why people don't like athletes to have outside interests, is your job the only thing you're interested in? Seriously, these guys have the means to live their lives however they want, why should they limit themselves?
  14. Kosar and Otto fucking Graham were better, but sadly Delhomme would be in the running for third. All those guys that Rippa named were decent quarterbakcs...before and/or after they were Browns. There are some teams that are snakebit when it comes to quarterbacks. I was mindful of those guys, but they played for the Ravens. I wish you ill.

  16. Hey - don't make me look at Lions QBs in my lifetime Other than Matthew Stafford, what Lion's QB would you rather have than RGIII? Any Bears fans want to answer? Raiders? Buccaneers?
  17. This is my life as a non-Redskins fan in the DC area, I try to bring some logic, they come with the "I'd rather my quarterback throw the ball to the other team." I'd take RGIII over every quarterback the Browns have had in my lifetime not named Bernie Kosar.
  18. Umm...are we still pretending that Cousins and McCoy are NFL quarterbacks? RGIII is imperfect, but he is clearly the best choice for them next season. Those other guys have reached their ceilings, RGIII has not. They might as well have announced that the field is made of grass, because at this point that is what they have so that is what they're going to use.
  19. Finally adding a turd huh? How dare you...get me to laugh out loud at work about my favorite team being represented by a literal piece of shit.
  20. This is one of the strangest gaming experiences I've ever encountered. The difference between the single player and multiplayer experience is astronomical, when you are doing the exact same thing. The monster when controlled by a person is powerful, but the computer controlled mosters can get ridiculous. I don't know if people just aren't that good yet, but I've had a much easier time killing human controlled monsters than AI monsters. The crazy part is I think both versions are equally fun. When the human controlled monster is stuck under your dome and you and your team is working efficiently it feels like you are part of a well oiled machine. The most tense thing is trying to take down the monster before the dome expires and it can escape through the woods. When you are fighting a computer controlled monster I don't even throw out that dome becuase I do not want to be confined in a small space with a crazy over powered monster. Taking down a computer controlled monster sometimes devolves into one character running for their life in order to survive until the dropship brings the reinforcements. I was playing yesterday and the moster destroyed my team, but I got away while the monster was trying to kill Daisy(the trapper's pet). I ran until there were 15 seconds left on the dropship timer only to be killed by some crazy animal that ambushed me as I was running by. It was completely ridiculous, but was incredibly fun.
  21. Grant Hill might have been a top 20-25 player all time if he didn't his ankle wasn't put together with sawdust and duct tape. Has anyone seen his ankle? He took his shoe and sock off on an episode of Open Court and his ankle looked like it was taken off a 3-year-old corpse. It was gruesome looking.
  22. Yeah, he's on the Penny Hardaway, Grant Hill, Antonio McDyess list of guys who won't be remembered that fondly, but could have been special if their bodies didn't betray them. Amar'e was one of the best players in the league when he was healthy, but he could never stay healthy for more than a season. Him and Steve Nash were one of the best combinations ever, their skill sets were perfect compliments and lead to some very entertaining basketball.
