I haven't seen any of the new Tough Enough, but WWE posted this video. And Billy Gunn seems like a great coach! Even from this short clip. Very enthusiastic and encouraging while still focusing on getting better and doing things correctly. I coach college speech and debate for a living, and it's super cool to see folks good at explaining things and keeping folks excited about progress. It is not an easy thing to do. Good for him!

No one has mentioned Bray's magic pants which revealed creepy writing as he sweat in them. That was pretty neat.

I love tag team brawls that walk through the crowd. There's a fun one with Chilly Willy and Balls against Simon Diamond and Swinger (or maybe Da Baldies?) that I should track down and watch again. I know these types of matches usually aren't very good, but I got a soft spot for them.

I don't know who Kyle O'Reilly called "The Funky Magician" in that promo, but I fully support that nickname. "Let's coexist."

I was at this show and it was a ton of fun! Cesaro busts out all sorts of swank shit in that Rusev match. Def catch the show for this match alone. The main was decent, and there was a pretty good PTP/Ascension tag filmed for Main Event. Birmingham was super hot for Titus. And Adam Rose of all people got a ton of heat for a maybe minute long live promo.

Per his Facebook, Davey Richards just passed his med school exams and is probably on his way to eventually becoming a doctor. A steel Davey Richards may someday be used to save a life.

Last night I was having trouble sleeping and decided to look up Ballard Brothers matches. They are still wrestling, and that shocked me for some reason. Sadly, they have ditched the hockey gear.

I like Elgin because he reminds me of a CAW or an efed character and ROH books him like one. It's awesome.

Again, if the WWE followed any of their own rules then their television would be great. If they allowed the announcers to actually perform the way the handbooks outline, it'd be great. But they don't. If they booked the way they swear they do in interviews and on that NXT special, the shows would be awesome. It's very strange to me how much cognitive dissonance there must be to produce a show like Raw every week with all of these seemingly great directives floating around.

I want a Dynasty Warriors style hack-and-slash set during the Revolutionary or Civil War with gigantic, impossibly badass versions of figures from American history. A team-based adventure RPG/survival game based on Moby Dick and finding/killing The White Whale. I would love a small, but complete wrestling game. Give me an original roster of like 20 wrestlers (with a CAW that produces characters that actually look like the existing in-game models), an endless, open career mode, and small IWA Japan-style gym arenas where I can wrestle literally anywhere in the crowd and all over the gyms. Put in a lot of gimmick matches and up to 5vs5 elimination tags. It would be awesome. Hell, any game where I could have a good concession stand brawl tornado tag match in a small arena would be cool. Something like Ark Survival meets GTA. Hell, a Terminator 2 GTA-style game would be incredible. A Whale Wars game would be a lot of fun. Maybe a Deadliest Catch game where you have to pick your crew and where to put your pots and the ship is a sort of sandbox while you're crabbing.

I don't really have a problem watching Benoit matches, and never really have. Maybe something in me is broken, but I feel like it's enjoying something from before he was a murderer, not after, and I'm not directly supporting the man but the craft. I completely understand the aversion to his stuff, but he was never a big hero of mine despite recognizing how good he was. I will say that I haven't watched his DVD set since. It was once of my favorites as literally every match on it is incredible. But I haven't put in even the matches disc because I feel like I would want to watch the doc, which is well made, and I just haven't been into having that sort of an eerie experience. There's something about a profile painting him in a positive light for two hours that is different from watching his matches. I don't know. It's an interesting issue. I remember I ordered that Vengeance: Night of Champions show, which was a big deal because I was home from college for the summer and my folks agreed to pay for it to be nice. I thought it was a huge deal with all the titles defended, and I was excited to see Punk wrestle Benoit. I remember spending almost the next 48 hours glued to the Board reading updates. When it's good, this is a great place.

I'm convinced the WWE doesn't even try to write characters any more, they just write scenarios. Sometimes, the scenarios and characters align and we get those great moments. But it leaves a lot of what they do feeling so forced, stale, or just confusing.
