  1. Also, isn't Ibushi's contract only 2 years?  He could always leave after those 2 or 3 years if he really wanted his final match with Omega.  They'd be 40, and no guarantee either would have a neck by that point, but would still be a big match.

Yeah, it started with random theory due to him bringing in KENTA and KENTA tagging with his lions, but lots of small things are happening that it starts to look not as a weird theory, but as something that is going to happen sooner rather than later.

They got Dragon Lee as a junior ace as well, he'd almost certainly join with Shibata.

Also from what I heard the casuals that watched it, liked it. The hardcore fans, not so much.

I’ll say this, I think they have something with Nakazawa, but they should try it less with minor video game celebrities, and maybe do it with more mainstream celebrities in mind. But first start with local popular athletes, and then graduate to the most famous athlete under the Turner Family banner. That being noted wrestling fan, Shaquille O’Neal.

Khan just came out and said they want to do one of these shows every year, and if Jebailey wants to perform at the shows they'll let him.  As long as Jebailey isn't a regular AEW wrestler I'm fine with it- I'd be ok with Jebailey as a heel manager though.

Someone beat to that joke earlier. Beyond that I was talking more as a character opposed to real life. It would be like early Alexa Bliss in NXT. Every damn mannerism and speech makes them come across as a heel despite the flashy high flying in their wrestling.

So Johnny different last name every promotion?

  5. the most likely scenario is once Jebailey's contract with Daytona is up, he'll head back to Orlando and get a bigger event there- provided fighting games and AEW both continue to grow.

Jebailey has not been happy with the behavior of some of the Daytona Beach locals who have harassed some of the more marginalized FGC folk.  If it wasn't for that, and the tourist trap nature of the place, CEO would be the best event out there.  (I still think it is despite that!)

I think looking at it that way is the whole issue. You have a company in a new market trying to offer themselves as the best company in the game. Presenting lazy house shows isn’t going to cut it or increase drawing past hardcores. Padding cards out with aussies is not what a new Japan fan wants unless you’re going to use them smartly and build them up as potential draws. It’s no good wanting to be the alternative to WWE and just doing the same as them.

This show was a step up from the last Festival hall but I think the damage was done by the last.

They do the same thing in the US.  It's like they're afraid to be a Japanese company outside of Japan, when the fans want a Japanese company.

  7. For what it's worth, AEW fans were blasting Cody for having the chairshot on the show- they didn't like it.  Hopefully they don't do it again.  It just doesn't fit what the fans want.

The Jebailey stuff would make Corny clutch his pearls, but for that show- it's fine.  I'm happy for Jebailey though- on the FGC side of things he really is one of the good guys and he's getting to live the dream some.  If AEW has him around once a year I'm fine with that- he can be their equivalent of Pete Rose getting tombstoned by Kane every year.

I couldn't bring myself to care about Janela.  I didn't get to see the whole show because I was at a local fighting game tourney today instead which went long.  I just wish I wasn't at local competitor level these days.

  8. I think Taichi is going to be beating Naito not Ishii.  Naito needs IC and possibly briefcase defenses, and fans would be cheering for Taichi hard to pull the upset but be ok if he loses.

Card is too stacked for it to be a throwaway show.  Even if they decided to do all fuck finishes, which they won't, the match-ups they have going on should be worth watching, especially for $0 (sorry some of you foreign weirdos have to pay)

If Kenny puts out half the effort he put out for CEO x NJPW last year, it will be worth the price.  Lovers vs Naito/Hiromu was every bit as good as Lovers vs Tana/Ospreay last December.

The other matches with NJPW talent were all fun as well.

It's weird for me hearing this. I didn't get to see any Mid-South until the network rolled around, and I always assumed it was hoss-central as far as champions went. So with that in mind, as well as only ever seeing as the Red Rooster and Taylor Made Man growing up, he sticks out like a sore thumb as UWF champion to me. Was he accepted? Was he over?

    He did get himself over.

Was mega-over as a heel in WCCW as well.

Dunno if this has been mentioned before but whenever I try to watch ROH recently, DirecTV has a screen up saying, basically, they have beef with Sinclair for some unknown reason and that's why you can't watch "this channel's programming". WTF?

These sorts of disputes with local TV stations are common.  It's the local TV station and DirecTV arguing on how much the local TV station should be paid.

@alstein Jebailey said in the video he tore his achilles, I know he wasn't cosplaying Tommy Dreamer. I was making a joke cuz he reminded me alot of Tommy Dreamer in the clips they showed. He does comes off as thinking he's hot shit, I chalked him up as his own biggest fan when I read he had a match on the Pre Show last year. He's the babyface right?

@Casey I was thinking while watching the video, "when's Tenille Dashwood showing up". She'd be a perfect addition to the roster and am surprised she hasn't signed as far as anyone knows as of yet. Tenile-Allie vs Brandi-Kong would be a cool match.

Yeah,  Nakazawa did some cheap anti-American, anti-gamer heat after beating a jobber before the match.

Jebailey tore his Achilles trying to learn a missile dropkick (as that was his kick in Divekick)

I gotta watch that Jebaily-Michael Nakazawa Match now that I know Je cosplayed Tommy Dreamer November to remember with the outfit and the boot.

The boot was because he tore his Achilles a few days before the match.  He spent the rest of that weekend in a wheelchair.

Jebailey's known a bit in the FGC for his big ego.  There's a reason Divekick Jefailey is the way he is.  (Jefailey is what people called him when he lost in the games he competed in)
