Rene is great, Tony is fun, Aubrey is likable, Uno is awesome.
  2. 1. Mentioning it is likely the greatest match you’ve ever seen, GreggMeNowOrLater with your 5 Greatest Matches. 2. I was thinking on this a day ago and I’m in the wait and see camp. This was a good moment to pull the trigger but with how good the storytelling has been, I’m not counting out that with how everything plays out that maybe this will be my favorite outcome. The writing team and the people involve earned my patience as a satisfied viewer. 3. I love films with tragic endings where the lead falls short. I’ve come around to your thinking on this island of unfulfilled misery. Looking back with future context, this pain could likely be a beautiful thing.
  3. Put all your money in resigning The Great Kabuki.
  4. I’m 100% with you on how great our Tribal Chief is. I can only speak for the brief times I bopped back in and out of the WWE. I feel a the fan pushback and even disrespect towards him was often misplaced anger towards bad booking. When I was back into the E, it seemed like he was the only challenger for a dominant (and gimmicky) uninterested Brock. He would lose and then win number 1 contender matches to lose again. You can book that in a captivating way over overcoming a monster, but it was such a Brock is A level, Roman is B level, and everyone else is C level that the B level and even the A level received the fans’ distain. If you replaced him with anyone on the roster and booked it the same way, I assume they would have been booed as well. Granted, take this ramble with a grain of salt, as I was only paying attention to the E for a specific time period and you can likely point to more moments that fans were underrating our great Tribal Chief.
  5. Most of the way through this. Very enjoyable. I find Kenny’s voice to be pleasant. I liked him riffing on the Greatest talk and tying it into not just great matches but being able to work a tv match with limitations and time constraints. Just got through him talking about the harassment and twitter hate that the Joshi talent got. Mad respect about them getting shouted and told matches changes midmatch on television as they are learning/ improving their English language. Haven’t gotten to the video game stuff yet, but saw people post about that already.
  6. I love the large Super Americans of All Japan. Be it smashing against each other or as the monsters to overcome.
  7. Give me both. I don’t think “wrestling” should be one thing. Give me a buffet of different styles and types of pacing. And/or different companies that present different philosophies of bookings and match types. This path month has been wonderful having the Bloodline segments on one show and Danielson epics on the other. Gunther chipping with one company and the Elite sprinting on the other. Such a fun time to be a wrestler. Even the stuff that doesn’t do it for me, I know enjoyment isn’t far away.
  8. I find it riveting. Not in a way to go back and watch after the fact, but in a way that I want to spend money in the moment. So I guess that’s that.
  9. It’s not wrestling. It’s glorious Sports Entertainment. It’s surrounding the concepts and themes of wrestling, but the show is about making movies. This was a great episode. Tune in next week, sponsored by C4 Energy. edit to add: I’m not fully being sarcastic. WWE is a whole different genre. The amount of mid match characters stopping to smack talk each other or pose to the cameras is a thing throughout the show.
  10. All about doing business. If I’m a disgruntled or on the fence AEW talent that was buds with the Codster, seeing him prominently used on their biggest takes the stigma away from WWE that it previously had when the talent first signed. Plus, think of the fun twitter and subtle podcast shade to throw at Tony. Edit to add: HHH supposedly found the pre-AEW BTE digs at him funny and understood why they were done.
  11. The What Next argument doesn’t do it for me. The other company had a similar long well told arc coronating their champ, Hangman Page, and even then it still lead to what some arguably considered a lackluster title run. Poor booking can still happen if Cody wins, just like how good booking can happen if Drew or Sami won. You have to go off of what we have seen recently and if you can make that Leap of Faith into putting your trust in the company’s ability to captivate you. I’m a Minnesota sports fan, so it is tough for me to open myself up to good things. Yet, this storyline has won me over. The previous PLE ending was not something I saw coming and it lead to a great continuation of my interest. Fingers crossed they keep me captivated.
  12. I think there are many ways this can play out that will be both entertaining and story fulfilling. Saying that, if Cody dethrones Roman then Nick Khan and HHH unlock Ricky Starks and other AEW secret playable characters. It will be well worth it.
  13. Then when Kenny Omega signs and wins the belt he’ll take one of those wings off and turn it into the One Winged Angel belt
  14. I’m fine with the ending because I now have faith in the company with this storyline. Dear lord, I feel icky.
  15. That main event was excellently done. I think if Sami won it would likely be my favorite match of the year so far, but the fact I was moved this much and really bit into each near fall is a testament to how special this was. Lovely stuff.
  16. I think people excluded it because it was in December. And your not overrating it, my European Breakfast friend. It was good stuff. I sadly looked up Kingston vs Akiyama to check the date. Haha
  17. Wrestlemania 2000 style Fatal Four-way: An Anoa’i in every corner. Cody w/ The Rock Roman w/ Rikishi (heel turn) Sami w/ Tamina? Jey w/ Jimmy
  18. I don’t mean to overly rag on the co-host, but I really wish we had someone with Dax that could catch these moments and ask for clarity or to expanded on points. I’m assuming the No The Shine/ Shine You Up talk is mostly semantics on wrestling philosophic linguistics. But without probing questions in the moment, we’ll likely not get the Forest amongst the Trees. To Matt Koon’s credit, one moment he did (I don’t remember which episode) was when Dax was referring to his own adversity he faced in wrestling that likely the Young Bucks faced the same. It allowed for empathetic reflection. All in all, I look forward to this pod.
