  1. I think it's more than fair to say the face/heel dynamic is more blurred than it should be, and Lucha Bros aren't the only example. The crowd booing the heels would certainly be helpful.

That being said, @Robert, if you want people to read your opinions, take them seriously, and discuss them, it would go over a lot better if you refrained from calling people children, crazies, and idiots. People are sensitive enough about AEW criticism as it is.

  2. The sky isn't falling and I don't see a real long-term effect, but if you're trying to do the "send the fans home happy" segment, shouldn't you be putting your top babyface(s) over and not the non-wrestling owner who doesn't appear on TV? The logic of WWE's McMahon-focused missteps still applies here: if this time is being used to have fun with Tony, the time is not being used to put a wrestler over. It doesn't matter if it's "just" a post-show segment. It's ringtime. It's the last thing the live crowd sees. It can be used more effectively.

I'm not (and I don't think anyone was) saying "this is just as bad as the McMahons!!!!" I'm saying it's a misstep. Give the wrestlers some shine instead of having fun with the AEW universe.

  3. The whole "You accept Rey Mysterio, so why can't you accept every small wrestler" presupposes that every small wrestler knows how to work for their size like Rey. I don't hate Marko Stunt, but I also haven't seen anything at all from him that suggests he belongs in a national promotion.

I fail to see the comparison especially since Omega has a zillion moves, half a zillion of which are finishers, while Jim Duggan pretty much has a punch, a body slam and maybe a clothesline to work with.

Oh, silly me.  I forgot that damned hip toss out of the corner.

Even sillier - you forgot the "Old Glory" Knee Drop!

  5. Meltzer has his head up his own ass regardless of which wrestling promotion he's talking about. He's valuable as a historian but I don't know why people lend so much weight to his opinions on current wrestling. His influence, which is all over every US promotion if not worldwide, has been very negative overall as far as what I personally am looking for in a wrestling product. I look forward to the day that wrestlers are more concerned with telling logical stories in the ring with psychology than they are with chasing his star ratings.

Statlander's goofy tendencies are a straight deal-breaker for me.  I like when Ivar (Ibar?) cartwheels out of the way of a clothesline (I don't like it every match but...that's a WWE issue).  I'd have no problem with Statlander cartwheeling out of the way of a move either.  I DO have a problem with her cartwheeling in a circle around the ring while her opponent stands there and watches and doesn't, I don't know, kick her in the face??!

I don't disagree, but I do think it's odd to single her out in a company that relies heavily on those kinds of spots.

I sorta respect the Elite for being so gung ho with the Dark Order push. Sure the fans won't like it but you gotta stick to your convictions sometimes.

    Vince McMahon, is that you?

Going from a big match with Nakamura to a feud with Jose, assuming that's where this is going, is a bit of a comedown for Aries.

This is the Jose Takeover match I referred to on the last page.

The chatter surrounding Aries's run suggested that he was already complaining loudly backstage by this time, so this might have been some kind of punitive demotion.

I had to double check my post but while I agree to asking who would watch this stuff I didn't brush them off as being assholes.  If that's what you got out of it then that wasn't my intent at all.

At this point it's not worth me posting in the Raw thread anymore.  I have my issues with WWE but there's many things I like about them which I'm happy to point out (and have done).  I try to not be negative when posting though again I was being a wise-ass in my post.  But I hate that it started all this and it makes me think twice before giving my opinion in here again.  Considering I'm not super keen on expressing myself in real life (something for maybe a different board section) this board is one where I actually feel kind of okay with giving my opinions on things.  But if stuff like this is going to happen then I may be best just lurking for a bit.  And please put me on ignore as I'm just not worth it.  Have a good day.

The post Burgundy was referencing wasn't yours. It was this one:

  9. Praising and/or defending just about anything WWE does/has done can really be an uphill battle here. I tend to agree with like 85% of the issues people have with WWE programming, but there are still people that will call me a contrarian troll or disingenuous for not being on board with the other 15%. I can certainly see why sharing a positive opinion would seem daunting.

I like how WWE has been letting people do promos in their first languages more. Even if you don't know what they are saying they come across much stronger in them.

I'm guessing, but I doubt they script the foreign languages word-for-word (or if they do, no one bothers to check the actual translation to see if it's being adhered to). I'm sure whenever people are permitted to be let off the leash even a little bit, they really throw themselves into it.

If they continue down this road, though, the "What" chants from the objectively terrible people in the crowd will become an issue again. Maybe let the faces do the bilingual talking, and let the heels get heat in a less uncomfortable way?

    My mistake @Goodear.

i don’t care to go back over the thread and find the comment but you @MORELOCK seemed to be suggesting the show was bad with your example being Kip Sabian not getting enough time while the librarians too much.

Can you see why me just vocalizing my thoughts on the librarian isn't the same thing as me saying the show's bad? This isn't even a show-specific thread.

And no, I wasn't saying Sabian should be in the exact same role as Avalon. It isn't about the role - it's about the time. Technico Support said he doubts that the time spent on the librarians could be used more effectively to get other talent over - I vehemently disagree. If Avalon's role is to be a jobber, and they have no other plans for him, it doesn't make sense to give him as much screen time and mic time as someone they have plans for.

how is anything I said creepy or illegal?  Slut shaming?  Christmas is coming ask for a dictionary . If she wasn't dating Cole she wouldn't be in the spot she's in  period. Half of the roster is better looking than her and more than half of the roster can cut a better promo and give a better match. I'm just asking to be proven wrong. Nobody has so far. I'm not looking to start any shit on here yet you people continue to say shit such as "get the fuck out" yet you can't disprove a thing I've said.

The creepiest part is that you *will not stop*, no matter how many people tell you what a fucking weirdo you're being. Nobody is taking the initiative to "prove you wrong" (which literally can't be done because good matches are subjective) because nobody here actually thinks Britt is a good worker and no one said she was. It's also very clear that even if someone bothered to list three of her matches they liked, you still wouldn't stop talking. We aren't telling you to shut up because we're Britt Baker fans, we're telling you to shut up because you're coming off like an enormous creep. Find some self-awareness.

If you aren't looking to start any shit on here, LET IT THE FUCK GO. We all know how you feel because you go on for pages about it every time she's brought up. Nobody cares. Move on.

but burying the product over barely even minor stuff is not going to engage a positive convo.

Who was doing that? Was it me, when I suggested that the overexposed librarians cede their screen and mic time to Kip Sabian? Can you explain why you think that constitutes a burial?

  14. The way people reacted to me taking issue with one aspect of creative (accusation of trolling, literally telling me not to watch the wrestling show they desperately want to succeed) should tell you all you need to know about whether people are drinking Kool-Aid or not.

*I* want AEW to succeed too, y'all. That doesn't mean their show is perfect. That doesn't mean we can't point out areas that they could improve just like we do for literally every other wrestling show or match.

It’s so easy to complain. Kip Sabian not getting enough to work with is hardly hurting a product that is clearly a billion times better than anything produced in the US in nearly two decades.  The librarians are used sparingly as cannon fodder - what’s to complain about?

It’s never going to be perfect, and of course the first year, let alone 3 fucking months, is going to have some mistakes (tho slowly acting upon an unready talent like Sabian is hardly a mistake nor is using the librarians as enhancement talent).  Try a wee tiny bit harder to enjoy the fantastic show we’re getting or maybe stop watching.  I hear there’s a great cuckold angle on Monday nights.

"Complain about nothing or stop watching" isn't how discussion threads work. The WWE threads are pages and pages of complaints, I'm sure everyone here can handle me saying they should pull the mic out of Peter Avalon's hand. Get a grip.
