On a sadder note, Tony Ayala Jr. passed away today. He was perhaps the biggest cautionary tale in the sport.

Marc Raimondi @marc_raimondi 24m Anderson Silva’s case also currently set for June’s NAC meeting, but it's unlikely Diaz & Silva will be same day. Both will be long hearings

Marc Raimondi @marc_raimondi 5m Nick Diaz’s case is on the agenda for the NAC meeting Friday, but will most likely be continued until next month, per the Nevada deputy AG. This is the longest goddamn process ever.

2015 Non-Event General MMA Talk Thread

I wonder what the policy is for guys like Barnett just doing grappling competitions. I know he won this weekend over substitute Ryron Gracie, but there is always potential to get injured. However, he was suppose to go against "Cyborg" Abreu. I mean Joe Lauzon got ran over this weekend by Dillion Danis so it's definitely a possibility. I believe Maia turned down doing the ADCC recently, but I think that was because he wasn't interested. I imagine it's OK as long as they don't have a big fight lined up or shouldn't be in camp. Sounded like a recent development and he's about to start a 16-week-ish training camp. Ok, gotcha. If I am the UFC, I wouldn't want someone like Barnett competing in anything physical when I have plans to line him up for something soon. Training camps are enough danger. -

Speaking of strawweights, Jungle Fight champ Ericka Almeida is replacing Penne against Ju Thai on the 5/30 Goania card. -

I guess Carla is fishing for a rematch by accusing JAG of being on the special supplements. http://www.mmafighting.com/2015/5/12/8590687/carla-esparza-i-know-for-a-fact-jessica-aguilar-has-used-peds -
Robert being poisoned would've roused everyone's suspicions. Someone who went with him would have needed to take the fall. As is, it just looks like a freak accident that happened on one of his long hunting trips.

TBH, It feels like the same show just a bit lighter and more wisecracking. Also, I believe they are switching out the Latina character on Constantine with a black chick played by Lesly Ann Brandt. She was on Gotham as a psuedo stripper ninja villainess only to never be seen again.

I think Edgar is going to win too, but I think it would help out the FW division tremendously if it was an exciting fight. Plus, we really haven't had too many legit Fight of the Year candidates especially ones with big stakes this year. I hope this one turns out that way.

Yeah, I don't think the guys who literally gave the instruction "Stay on your feet" are smart enough to pull Mark Hunt out of a fight.
-
Honestly, it didn't matter what trainer he had. Unless he had a few dudes along with him to jump Canelo mid-fight, the same thing was going to happen. You just don't become a different fighter over one or two training camps. Plus, if you look back at Canelo early on in his career, this is the type of dude he devours. Those other guys just didn't have the toughness Kirkland has so it gets overlooked. However, both paths lead to Canelo destroying them.
-
I bet he is back for UFC 193. Personally, I think he should retire there win or lose. As for the strawweight fights, they were fine. They both had nice finishes.
-
John Morgan @MMAjunkieJohn 38s Miocic outlands Hunt 390-64. At least, Hunt didn't die in the cage. So that is something to take into account.
-
Whittaker might have just entered that "we need someone to fight a lower ranked top middleweight" fray which they so desperately need to fill up. Crazy thing is he might beat some of those guys. Middleweight is really one of the non-lower weight divisions ripe for the picking at the bottom. Guys at heavyweight ranked at 8 and below can stay there because the true prospects aren't there and those established guys have names. It just takes a one or two promising guys at middleweight to send dudes to the FS1 prelim opener.

If Jake Matthews ever wants to be a top lightweight, he has to stop running headlong into guillotines. Credit to Vick though.
