  1. Jake Shields tapped Brian Foster tonight and won the right to get his leg put on sideways by Toquinho. Yeah!
  2. I could be wrong and it's Aubin-Mercier vs. Michaud instead.
  3. ....I think that was the entire main card unless they announce something that drops Cote-Riggs off the main card (which wouldn't be that hard quite frankly).
  4. Bob Torrens ‏@BobbyT52 17m17 minutes ago More fights on MTL card: PATRICK COTE vs. JOE RIGGS OLIVIER AUBIN-MERCIER vs. DAVID MICHAUD JESSICA RAKOCZY vs. VALERIE LETOURNEAU Cote vs. Riggs is so 2005
  5. You can add Bisping vs. Dollaway to the UFC 186 slate. You would think this fight would've already happened at some point.
  6. Teddy Atlas brings this up all the time for boxing, but it just won't work. In an ideal world, the athletic commissions are suppose to do ALL of that. That's their whole purpose. Someone brought this up to me on Twitter a couple years ago. My answer is still the same. All you're doing is creating another organization for Zuffa to ignore. You are about as legitimate as WAMMA because you start off with no power at all and don't have the potential to gain it. In boxing, the IBF and WBO only became legit recognized belts because credible world class fighters were fighting for them. Not due to people splitting off from the WBA and WBC because they saw those two orgs as evil and easily consumed by favoritism. In addition, you're creating another organization that will fall into the Good Ole Boy Network. You don't think they can't find another round of individuals who are willing to be corruptible? Floyd Mayweather and others get slapped on the wrist because they keep that venue open and line their pockets with money. It might start off with the best of intentions (EVEN IF the 0.1% chance of Zuffa recognizing them came through), but that whole moral compass thing will erode quickly.
  7. FWIW Dillashaw vs. Barao II and Rampage-Fabio "Fabolous Fabby Brawlgame" Maldonado along w/ Rory-Lombard is now official for UFC 186 in Montreal. Whoever looks the best out of the latter fight and Hendricks (if he wins)-Brown will challenge Lawler for the belt.
  8. I think it's more of a case where the commission and the UFC got caught with their asses in the wind. The Ray Rice situation was where the league had virtually no choice but to punish Rice severely. It just so happens that Goodell made an awful decision before going with a more apprioriate disciplinary action (at least by public standards and perception). In the case of JBJ, they (both NAC & UFC) had no real grounds to punish outside of the code of conduct. Add in the fact, they weren't even suppose to test for what Jones failed for. Hence why the NAC really had no substantial response to this whole situation at their last meeting. Thus it's obvious why they need to rewrite those rules to change what is effectively out-of-competition and what is in-competition. Also, work on cleaning up their testing procedures.
  9. NO I DIDN'T KNOW THAT HAPPENED AT ALL! ......
  10. It was an out-of-competition drug test failure for something the NAC wasn't even suppose to test for. Ray Rice knocked his wife out. That's a bizarre comparison.

  13. I believe Simmons has said Gillette is like 45+ minutes from the city and that's under the best of situations and not game day/night. Millions of people live in those areas. Everyone isn't going to the game. This isn't like when Glover fought in Belo Horizonte during a big local soccer game across town. I'm not really sure I understand your point. I understand millions live in the greater Boston area but the question what was brought up was someone going from the game to the fights. My point is does it really matter? The crossover isn't that insane. When Teixeira fought Bader in Belo Horizonte (MG), they ended up with only 5,000 people in 20,000 seater because there was a big soccer game going on. MMA has a solid following in in the city and Glover was a hometown guy, but they were going against basically a religion. In the U.S., it's very different as a good portion of MMA fans are not "sports" fans.

  15. You do know Dana has promised several dozen title shots over the last fourteen years? VileOne implied that something bad happened in nearly every case, which is certainly not true.
  16. Meltzer said they did a good advance. The two fights people really care about are happening after the game is over.
  17. And they had to help him out of the cage after the 2nd fight.
  18. Meltzer was being sarcastic since people have been "bringing up the race card" since the hate of JBJ started in his defense. Meltzer's argument for the last 3 1/2 years at least was it's completely unfounded. IMO That's incorrect seeing how he based it off one show he was at years ago at the inception of Jones being disliked.
  19. Apparently, Eddie Gordon woke up from Samman head kick and is fighting Chris Dempsey on the Newark card.
  20. Shoutout to the Galaxy brothers!
