I like Chronicle too but that's a low budget indie movie that's built to not make him look like a weak actor. I didn't watch those movies and go, "You know that kid should really be placed in major roles where he is doomed to fail because he needs some more seasoning." Hell, based on what's been put out there, you can argue that same thing with Josh Trank and his directing.

Oh, I get that part. I'm looking at it from the opposite side. How much faith in a show's content and interest in its survival does a showrunner need to say, "Sundance isn't a bad option"? I would think Hannibal making it three seasons is good enough considering the direction it was going in terms of popularity.
-
Oooof. I like Hannibal and the Sundance channel. However, those two things I never saw commingling with each other. Manhunter comes on Sundance like every three weeks, but that's a very loose connection. I mean I guess that could happen.

Quick aside: I was watching an old In Living Color episode and saw a skit pretty much dissing Whoopi. Then you realize, like yeah....her name is Caryn Johnson and she decided to have the name of a Jewish Florida retiree. I get it though with the stage names. I mean there is a group called Rich White Ladies and it's two scantily clad black girls from the Bronx. I understand irony. I'm hip. However, there has to be a sense of context in which you speak. Whoopi has had her own battles over how many years she has been a mainstream name. I get that she has a show and they want her take, but you know the heat that might come down. Plus, there is always time to come back and revisit certain discussions. When there is something substantial that actually leans towards the allegiations being false, then you take your swing. Right now, it's a losing cause in all aspects. Just like Cosby, she is not going to get this support from the black community to endorse her viewpoints. On other issues? Yes, if it's something that is undeniable. She has to realize she is on the outside as well and been there for awhile. I get there is a sense of camaraderie and code amongst comedians especially since no one really exposed Cosby during his height. Hell, there are some issues I've even agreed with Whoopi on in the past. However, she has to realize that there may be more qualified and adept people to speak on this situation. She just ain't the one. Speaking of rich and out-of-touch delusional bastards, while I'm certainly not adamant about beating the Cosby horse, I am waiting for the day Steve Harvey gets his day at the guillotine. I don't think he is a rapist or anything, but he is basically a Cosby incarnate who had the nerve to write relationship books when he has been married 30 times. In addition, he has treated so many people like shit who are in the industry and those who aren't. However, since he is a darling among white soccer moms and TV execs, he gets a pass to act however he wants. That fall from grace? Yeah, sign me the fuck up. He doesn't have that safety net of relationships that Cosby had with comedians. So it's a case of when and not if.

Josh Samman is live tweeting the drug testing meeting with UFC officials in Vegas. Very interesting stuff. Josh Samman @JoshSamman 4m4 minutes ago Detailing THC metabolite threshold. Just thought about it: A man who used to be a heroin junkie is fighting a man who used to be a meth head. It will probably be the best thing on the card. That's the most MMA thing ever.

I know he PPD Live By Night to do Dawn of Justice, but I swear I saw something recently about funding for shooting in Tampa fell through. It's a bit nutty to continue signing onto big projects in the midst of a divorce, but I guess it may not be as bad as people believe it to be.

This is honestly news to me. Fuck you, Bob Barker! I will never again laugh at that Raw you guest hosted! You are evil! Bro,I kind of figured Cosby was a rapist when 20 women claimed it. Before Hannibal so. Just saying.

Since I don't think this stalemate is going to end, I will say that I don't think Fruitvale Station would have been a good movie for me if it didn't have that Elephant vibe with me and having that slow sense of dread. I barely made it through United 93, but I wasn't really judging it on whether or not this or that was happening before stuff went down. I can certainly see why people would dislike some of those movies because virtually nothing happens for most of the movie. I mean do I really need to see Oscar Grant make a trip to the grocery store? Not really, but I've already accepted that in some part by watching this movie. I liked The Railway Man, but even without knowing the true story, I know they spruced the shit out of the story to make it interesting. However, I will also say that I wasn't really expecting Michael B. Jordan and the director to blow up like they did. I think Jordan is talented and Coogler may be a good director some day, but making a random Rocky spinoff movie? Yeah, I can live without that. I'm kinda hard to impress when it comes to boxing and combat sports films, but I dunno even if I wasn't an avid fan that I would like that trailer. I thought it stunk. Plus, I think Boseman would be a better choice even though I didn't like Boseman as James Brown. However, that's the shakes when there is like two or three young black actors Hollywood gives a shit about.

Yeah, I would expect as much. You don't make him an integral part of multiple teams if he were. -
Matter of fact, Bob Barker was making women on his show suck his dick anytime he wanted them to against their will and brought out several different lawsuits. People made jokes about this (see Paul Mooney on his 1994 special). People knew about this and continued hosting his show for several more years. Even had one of the highest rated Raws of all time for a host. The level of not giving a fuck about this only matches mine. Why? Because I don't give a shit about Bob Barker. So there is nothing to be disappointing for me about Bob Barker. He is a dude that hosted a silly game show on TV. I ain't seen one "Bob Barker is a monster" thread. So does Hannibal Buress have to say it for you to accept it as truth or are you too busy being overly emotional about something else?

I am not comparing anything to rape. I am just not going to show any disappointment or outrage about Bill Cosby because you have to have expectations in someone to be disappointed with. He could have a shot a bunch of infants or curbstomped a group of orphaned puppies. Would have got the same reaction out of me. He was a shit human being BEFORE this whirlwind of allegations. I don't look at people as role models at that level. Small issue or the biggest issues.

2015 Non-Event General MMA Talk Thread

I believe Jimmy Smith and Rogan are cool with each other, and I'm pretty sure Smith has even appeared on his podcast. So it was probably Wheelock and just wanted to avoid that confrontation with Jimmy. I don't think it is Anik because I think Rogan casually watches some of the other UFC shows anyway. Even though everyone is replaceable, I don't think they're going to replace Smith due to the face he also does PBC for them. Maybe he fits into a certain look and voice they're going for. -
As a kinda younger (I guess) black person, I definitely get why black people don't want to genuinely associate with Cosby after he has been so adamant about what we should do and all of that. Now that he is in this situation, he ain't getting the same pass OJ got after Simpson/Goldman murders. And that was murder! The same discussion I've had with supremebve (IIRC) months back in this thread or a similar one many times over in some form. Personally, I believe you do what you want because society has always been fucked up and it's survival of the fittest. Even if Cosby wasn't a serial rapist and was a real Jello Pudding/Kids Say the Darnest Things guy, I'm sure he still stepped on the necks of a few people just to get somewhere just because that's the nature of the business he is in. So the same dog-eat-dog thing applies to him. That's very clear since he took advantage of a bunch of women who wanted to be someone and saw who he was. For me, it's just very hard for me to go in on him based on at least two things. First, I don't believe and never believed in role models in that manner. My uncle sold crack cocaine for the Chambers Brothers back in the day in the middle of the bumfuck Mississippi Delta area. I grew up knowing all things and circumstances ain't the same. So I understood that the Huxtables were a madeup TV family and whatnot. It was cool to watch, but I am not building a shrine for Bill Cosby because he showed me black people can be successful and go to college. Even though it's a very nice representation and accurate depiction that our culture is indeed diverse, everything on television and films is a stereotype. Some stereotypes are good and some are bad. Thus, I am not sure why we are so engrossed in having every thing be represented just one way. So I guess I disagree vehemently with Cosby in that way. While I do dislike BET and all those faux pseudo celeb reality shows, I've grown to understand that stuff has its place. White people don't get mad when they have mobster shows and shows where people have bad Boston/New England accents like they're on the set of The Perfect Storm. They get mad in areas other than race. However, if you want go ahead and make everything over-the-top pandering to a certain demo trying to find the next Cosby show like some of the cancelled Tracee Ellis Ross shows, go right ahead and do a Huxtable family clone. The second reason is just based on what J.T. said especially in regard to black entertainers. We can just do some comedians: Pryor - Very liberal with his handling of women to say the least. Had his own allegiations of abuse and rape that have been swept under the rug pretty much. Extremely bitter towards to the end of his active career. However, if you saw Jojo Dancer and knew that was his story, you would not be surprised how fucked up his life was. Mooney - Made his career out of burning bridges, but was known for his social commentary so he just rolled with the punches. Then, he became even more bitter than usual and alienated himself from the entertainment world all together. He was tagging other people's (usually younger comedians he took on the road) jokes after sometimes outright stealing them. He was going in on everyone who he felt wronged him in the past or present. Case in point, speaking of Tracee Ellis Ross, he told a brutal joke about Diana Ross' husband dying by skiing into a tree/falling in a mountain accident at the 2005 BET Awards or w/e awards they had at that time. And this was with Diana and her daughter in attendance! Hey, it could have been tasteless but funny. My point is that's who he was at the time. He also gets extremely mad everytime people discuss the decades long rumor that he is a homosexual. Anyway, you would think he would be a legend in our world writing for Pryor and Murphy and then having a late career boom by appearing on a wildly popular TV show for another black comedian to link generations. Nope, just a crazy, old, and bitter black dude. Katt Williams and Dave Chappelle - Both had a ton of money in place with Comedy Central and then just left it on the table by going "crazy". This seriously disregards the fact that both for a long time have been peculiar dudes and like doing their own thing. Also, they both really love weed. Patrice O'Neal - Was suppose to be our generation's Paul Mooney, but just notoriously hard to deal with. So I guess basically, he was our generation's Paul Mooney. Played into the large, intimidating black man role and made it somehow work for him. However, he always had that constant battle and depression about not being able to breakthough to get that success he deserved. Then, his declining health and gaining the understanding how the nasty politics work only put him into a deeper depression about that. Fortunately, he did leave us with "Elephant in the Room" but it could have been so much more than that given the proper forum. Every guy you can think of is going to have their issues in some way or another. Maybe not now, but you better believe something is going to pop up.

I don't know how I feel about social media being the haven for personal domestic abuse issues. Wouldn't the wise thing to do be to leave and then consult the authorities after this abuse has taken place? If this is a serious issue (and it very well may be), then I dunno what would compel you to instantly take to social media with the evidence when you can send it through the proper channels. Also, doesn't Travis Browne have kids? -

If you're grading on a curve (meaning not getting his ass kicked like in RD1), he won the second and then the tiebreaker round. That's the only way the judges could've seen it because it didn't look like they were using the actual criteria.
