  1. I thought the same thing when I saw the lineup. However, the whole thing is weird considering the last several weeks were essentially lameduck matches waiting for everything to shake out. I am guessing they already committed to the IWGP Women's title match and Sareee is willing to honor that commitment.
  2. I am not a big belt nerd, but isn't the whole thing about those belts (WWE's) is that some if not all of those designs aren't patented by WWF/E? It was cool back then cause they weren't made by the same person so they looked different. However, at some point, most of the belts were patterned after WWE's belts. Hell, other than UFC, everyone in MMA's belts looked like pro wrestling belts from the late 80s/90s. Just insert whatever promotion's logo and you got your MMA belt. There are literally several hundred of them floating around. So from that perspective, I can get why you make the logo the centerpiece. You own the logo even if you don't own the design. As much as I don't like the alphabet orgs in boxing, they have largely had the same belts for 40 or 50 years. Just little modifications over the years. What use to be the big two (the WBC and WBA) are the same, the green belt and the black belt/gold with hints of red respectively. The IBF, which came into prominence in the 80s, is the red belt with a little gold ornament hanging off of it. The WBO, which became the established fourth org in the mid 90s to early 2000s, is more brown/maroon-ish. The "super" version of the WBA title looks like the Ring Magazine belt used in the Rocky movies. Not going to blow your socks off, but they have a sense of importance, prestige, lineage, and respect.
  3. If that was the case, he would sign with AEW which has some form of stability...at least relative to a company with no actual TV deal, sponsors (I wanna see who takes the brave leap to sponsor this), and ran by a man who probably won't have the vitality to run a company day-to-day. If Vince had to start over after the steroid trial, it would be different. This is 30 years later with much more dirt on his name.
  4. Is he still under WWE contract? Also, if there is no one notable for Brock to wrestle, why would he go there?
  5. Yeah, not Daga cause they split a bit ago. The daughters of the Four Horsemen have the market cornered for marrying luchadors. Anyway, I doubt Vince McMahon could name 10 wrestlers not contracted by WWE. The ones he could are probably deceased.
  6. Tessa is working in CMLL fairly often and to the point she just did one of their biggest shows with all the AEW talent. In addition, she was tagging with Willow and Lady Frost. Guessing that wasn't up to TK or he was totally fine with it.
  7. You know 15 years ago when it was rumored that Fedor's team wanted UFC to built a stadium? Shit, they got the money. Build a new stadium in Hawaii. Max Holloway vs. the World. Let's go motherfucker.
  8. If you showed someone Jiří Procházka's fights who had never watched MMA, they would think they were fixed. He is absurd.
  9. Pena and Pennington are extremely durable (see the times they fought Amanda Nunes) and Pacheco gave Harrison trouble just off resistance. However, that's a tough ask if she can just throw you with ease. Like I said (and to be fair, Holm as well before this fight), Rousey and Harrison are different fighters. Judo and not being the best strikers are the only connection. Other than that, Ronda was going for the same technique and getting it. Working with ATT, Harrison as you could see is a lot more versatile. She's not going to be frustrated like Ronda upon one missed attempt to get the fight down to the ground and blindly just go straight in at you. I think that's what exacerbated Ronda's lack of striking acumen being exposed. Ronda's athleticism was tied to her agility and pliability. Not really strength. Kayla is a goddamn Sherman tank. Tad bit different.
  10. I mean I think a lot of it depends on Harrison's adjustments and if the Mayra Bueno Silva fight was just a bad at the office for Holm. Holly looked terrible in that fight. And that one, given how Silva looked against Pennington, probably could have been Holm by decision years ago.
  11. I think they had one the night after Canadian Stampede off the top of my head.
  12. I would say if you haven't seen Kayla Harrison, I would say in certain areas, she looks like a novice especially when she's in a totally different situation than she's use to. She's fought Larissa Pacheco multiple times and in the first fight, she clearly won. It wasn't as dominant as her other fights. Then the next couple times, she looked a bit out of sorts especially the last fight where she didn't do anything and lost to Pacheco. Pacheco is much better than she showed in the UFC, but she isn't exactly doing anything that would uniquely bedevil folks. She was just more experienced than Kayla and also 15-20 pounds heavier than she was in the UFC. More importantly, in the latter fights with Harrison, she managed to figure her out and use her weight functionally against Harrison. Now all that said, I think Harrison is more like a Mackenzie Dern than a Ronda Rousey. She's not going to pull guard like a Dern but she isn't going to spam the same techniques as Ronda did. I think she is kinda like a Sara McMann mixed with Dern. In addition, Rousey vs. Holm was almost ten years ago now. Yeah, I think Holly's experience could be very valuable. However, she doesn't have the explosion she had years ago. There have been several moments of the last few years where she has looked every bit her age. Keep in mind, she had a long fighting career before MMA. There is a lot of wear and tear on her body. Meanwhile, I think if Harrison has been working on a lot of weaknesses at American Top Team, she can look better than she has been at the end of her PFL run. I think the made up weight class (for women) didn't help her one bit in terms of growth. It was either fight girls with just as much as experience as her OR fight someone with three times the experience. It was a no win situation or room for growth. I think this is her sink or swim moment because honestly she was meant to be in UFC from the beginning. Same with MVP. It was just a question of when. Now we're about to see if she was worth the investment. I think you can say the same for Bo Nickal as well. There is a lot riding on his fight with Brundage. He has to deliver as well.
  13. This is all going for naught when WWE signs Ospreay in like 3 years to wrestle 35 times a year. Then all sudden, it's not going to be an issue and he's one of the hardest working men in pro wrestling. I mean they signed someone who had multiple physical altercations backstage. I think there aren't too many things they wouldn't be able to get over.
