I think his coaches soft ejected him to keep him from giving up another free 15 yards

Did people not notice Ruby slapping Willow in the chest when they walked out and saying “Willow, GET THE TABLES”? Ruby bled enough for everyone, Willow almost killed Anna twice (DVD on apron very close to a dangerous botch, power bomb to floor was a dangerous botch). I feel like the announcers were sort of mocking the bag of tacks which I kind of agree with, it’s been done a lot now. Still, glad to see Ruby get a big win finally and I need the Willow-Ruby t-shirt. HoB is not for me and this whole angle sucks, so I didn’t pay much attention. Free Brody King. Jarrett as the classic Memphis shit heel is starting to work for me some, as long as he keeps taking Ls and putting people over. Still, I’d rather not see a celebrity angle and I’m still waiting for Jarrett to angle himself to the top of the card. Acclaimed/Gunns was a fine cheap comedy bit that didn’t go too long and reminded us that, at some point, Daddy Ass is going to have to return to his boys. Missed the opener.

Wasn't able to devote my full attention because, that's right, I'm in a hotel watching while working. Page vs. Mox was what we wanted and what we expected, and now your 2022 AEW MVP and possible WOTY Mox gets his vacation even though I'm not wild about a fake concussion angle. Hey, it's Adam Cole. Time to turn my focus back onto all the emails. He's happy to be back, I'll try and give him another try. I think the JungleHook vs. Firm match was in here. Kept my focus on emails, only guy I really care about is Moriarty. Credit to Big Bill for getting a good jump and tuck on the T-bone. MJF, on the other hand, has fully become Go Away Heat from me. So long-winded, so redundant, so predictable. I was worried it was going to kill the buzz I had for the upcoming match. I did give my undivided attention to Takeshita and Danielson and I was fully rewarded. I know Matt D hated it but I loved it, multiple out of the chair moments (that NASTY brainbuster on the floor! The Everest German!), 5 stars from JLowe. Made Lard Lad look like a total killer, made Danielson look vincible, and then the show of respect at the end. JAS-Starks/Andretti segment was just bad but maybe some good matches will come out of it. Women's tag was great although it only got about 70% attention (not an insult to the participants, a timing issue). The Shida part was clever if nothing unique, a good way to advance the various angles and dissension. I'd probably have this as second best match of the night. Ladder match was a big ol' spotfest that mostly left me cold. Probably because at this point they've run most of those big spots 2 or 3 times. I think match 5 might have been the best? Free Rey Fenix. I've got a lot of AEW to watch/rewatch once I get home on Saturday. Because, as Dean says, AEW RULES THE FUCKING WORLD

Do you read @SirSmellingtonofCascadia's Monday Nitro rewatch writeups in the WWE folder? Good stuff and he mentions this a lot.

Max Duggan reverting to his mean. There is a big advantage in having a senior or super senior QB in college football right now. TCU had a couple of hot WR coaches who recruited guys who had offers from bigger schools. And they worked the portal.

I thought Cool Hand Ang was Punk for a second when I looked at the first photo.

I like your picks in general, although I think there needs to be at least one more up-and-comer he can give a rub to like Takeshita. I said it elsewhere, but he and Darius Martin could have a really fun banger of a match based on last week's tag match. I also don't know how many current champions you would want losing to Bryan in a non-title match, because it makes them seem secondary, which sucks because I want to see him against Joe, Claudio, and OC. I think Claudio is inevitable to further BCC tension and as mindgames on MJF's part.

I voted for the Wednesday Acclaimed vs Jay-e-double F because I thought Jarrett sold better in that match, because the heat was something like you would find close to the sun, and the false finish had me totally ready to riot. Friday had it's moments but Wednesday was US tag team wrestling at it's finest.

and no mention of Willow and Ruby vs. Emi and Diamante? Not only is the wrestling going to be aces, but the shenanigans with Willow and Emi are going to test the patience of Ruby and Diamante. -
Rampage + Battle of the Belts V - 1/6/2023

I was a little surprised there wasn't a respect angle at the end after that hellacious beating. I think Darius took kicks even harder than Yuta. I really hope that they decide to have a Darius-Bryan match as part of his run to the PPV and let them go 20 minutes. -
Vince McMahon Returns to WWE

All they need to do is spend a few shows insulting Elon Musk and they'll be able to sell to him for more than value -
I think Swerve/AR having little to no build was part of the problem but I also think it's fair to point out that the segments with women in them, be they matches or interviews, were either the lowest segment or had huge drops in viewership. I think we can also focus on some positive and look at Darby v. Joe bringing 56k viewers back.

Was Sir Mix-A-Lot there with his posse?

I haven't seen him wrestle enough yet to actually rate him

Seattle crowd was molten, definitely made an excellent night of wrestling into something special. So happy to see Ricky get a clean pin on Jericho after a fun match. Good post-match beatdown too. Mox's mic troubles were rough and I was a little disappointed that he kept restarting the promo instead of just going on like it was a natural response instead of a speech. Mox is really trying to turn heel but the crowds won't let him. Looking forward to the match. I appreciated the Jarrett-Lethal intro music mash-up, nice touch. I appreciate that Jarrett will bump and sell hard to make his opponent look good, he really made Bowens' punches look legit. But I also whole-heartedly agree with the Seattle crowd "Fuck Jeff Jarrett". Caster clowning extra hard and personal, almost as if to say, "you want to leech some of our heat, then I'm going to make sure it burns". I was ready to riot for sure, but I guess they realized that that swerve would be the best way to get Aubrey her hometown moment. Rematch on Friday feels way too soon, even if it's the most interesting thing for Battle of the Belts. Britt and Hayter's segment >>>>>> Saraya's segment. MJF talks forever, does his usual Roddy Piper Internet troll schtick. It eventually leads somewhere and I guess it's nice to see funny guy Bryan knowing the beating he's going to unleash. And hey, we're going to get some great matches on the road to the PPV, where he'll do the inevitable job. And since MJF loves being all shooty, Bryan should have said "I'm good enough to have been the world champ for that company you're simping for" Swerve and Fox was Strange Style squared and a lot of fun. Always some exciting, innovative, weird offense. Jade's stock is dropping faster than Tesla. I guess I'm glad that she's got her own little corner of the AEW women's division where she can continually beat on Skye Blue (who deserves better but is at least getting TV exposure as a reward for actually wrestling a ton of enhancement matches and improving as a wrestler) without doing a damn thing to make her opponents look good. I said elsewhere that if Red Velvet REALLY wanted to get one over on Jade, she would've intentionally lost the match and killed the streak (a mercy killing IMO). Gunns were corny but nothing was going to kill that crowd tonight. I did not expect Darby to win, but I'm so happy he did. That match was pretty much what I expected and I was very satisfied.

I hate Dusty finishes but that definitely kept me from breaking my TV

Wait, that's what Demo God is referring to? I assumed it was Fozzy's albums.

I started watching last night's show before being called off on caretaker duties. Having Daniels wrestle Pillman Jr. was weird, like it was either a training match or a test to see whether Pillman is worth a damn. He had one really nice dropkick but the rest was pretty plodding and pedestrian. I was pretty excited about the promo with Arn Anderson but it was also weird because Arn directly asked Pillman to tag with Brock and have Arn as their manager, which Pillman responded to with his own (ok) promo asking to be taken under Arn's wing. Not a good start if Pillman isn't even listening to what Arn is saying... -
And Jordan might be one of the most thin-skinned, biggest prick superstars of all time, sort of like Punk.

I knew a girl in college who this happened to. She was playing first base on her high school softball team, was struck in the chest by a line drive and had to be resuscitated and flown to a hospital by helicopter.

Fun opening match between two of the top 10-15 wrestlers in AEW. Mix of comedy bits, storytelling, and moves. The second 15 minute block was booked very well to avoid people like me changing the channel when threatened with a Kip Sabian match. They cut to a fantastic backstage segment with Darby and Sting, come back to a 2 minute squash, and end with Moxley in-ring promo. Mox is trying to turn heel, we’ll see if the fans let him. The third segment was the Jade-Hogan match and A LOT of commercials. Got interesting after Red’s sort-of turn. Hogan accidentally(?) kicked Jade really hard square in the face. It was an ok match with a foregone conclusion. Jade-Red vs. Hogan-Skye I guess has some potential as “will Red Velvet cost Jade her streak?” Main was fun, enjoyed seeing Yuta lean away some from his recent BCC style and have to work with Swerve’s strange style. I really do enjoy all the ways that Swerve can use his legs and feet to do weird trips, reversals, and kicks. A little disappointed the show didn’t end with someone like Hobbs doing a run-in and destroying the set.

HoB-DT feud for the titles would be a FFWD moment for me.
