  1. I agree to an extent but he’s had 15 months and his upper body is about as soft as mine
  2. Getting irony and postmodernism over created an environment where Orange Cassidy can exist, slowly be revealed as a superworker, and have years-long character development.
  3. If you watch the backstage interview, look at his lower neck/upper chest area and his hands.
  4. My wife and I might go too, or just me if she’s not feeling up to it. I’ve never been to a Collision and the idea of seeing ROH matches is appealing, as are the three announced Collision matches (and probably Outrunners).
  5. Adam Cole match was just bad on all levels. Slow, plodding, no psychology, poor selling (Cole couldn’t even decide at times which ankle couldn’t hold weight when he was actuallly arsed to sell the ankle in one of his moves), shitty melodramatic story. The one thing it did seem effective at was turning the crowd on Cole. And whoever did his spray tan must normally work for Trump, he was totally unnatural colored and stood out even more against a pale Buddy Matthews. I was convinced Private Party was going to lose, at one point I even said to myself “man, Quen is finally getting it together and they’re getting the timing and moves down just in time to split up”. This match had lots of moves, good storytelling if heavily into tropes, and the end did feel like a genuine surprise. Obviously, TK or someone else realized we needed so feel-good moments with all the heel victories. We also got the AEW side finally getting one back on BCCWO, and the excellent OC promo. Lots of missed camera stuff but a lot going on. Kamille-Stat was a little short and got the usual “go to actual commercial during women’s match” momentum killer. But them doing those huge moves to each other was impressive AF from both, especially Kamille’s jumping guillotine leg drop on a standing Stat. Kamille has some hops! End felt a little abrupt, maybe because I forgot what Stat’s actual finisher as, and because I’m used to false finishes. Main was also impressive watching Shelton toss Swerve around, and seeing Swerve get a beat down before a huge comeback. Wasn’t expecting a clean finish, was expecting Lashley. Again, running an invasion angle and the internal BCCNWO “saving the company” angle concurrently is bad.
  6. I feel like Garcia and Perry might have some genuine heat. And yeah, that’s the huge flaw with the BCCWO angle. And now, it looks like it’s going to be an Elite redemption angle instead which…no.
  7. Absolutely brilliant!
  8. Since last week is closed: I watched half of Collision (started having problems with the YouTube DVR and gave up). Penelope Ford was really stiffing the shit out of Robyn Renegade, especially early on, presumably because she’s out of practice on pulling strikes. She also blew her handspring move. They really need to find a way to get people coming back from ling injuries more ring time before coming back to national TV. MxM-Outrunners was awesome and the crowd was really into it. But, while I know it’s kinda part of the gimmick (and likely a WWE relic), they really don’t need to do that stereotypical “ambiguously gay tag team being stuck in a 69 position” especially for 20-30 seconds. It’s outdated and dumb. The Yuta-Nigel interview was great to add some nuance to the larger angle. The show crapped out right around the start of Lio-Ricochet.
  9. I’m still curious to know if he had/has an ostomy. I don’t see how someone could wrestle with one without major issues (both hygiene and injury), so presumably if he had one it was temporary.
  10. I like Yuta and Garcia, and I feel like OC has been established as an upper-tier guy, but this angle needs to be the redemption of Hangman. And I and other have said it before but running BCCWO at the same time as the Hurt Syndicate angle is just dumb. Tickets for Collision in Philly are as low as $20. My wife expressed interest, I think so she can boo Mariah May (my wife is a major Timeless Toni fan). Knowing that Collision is where I might see Outrunners, MxM, LFI, and luchadors has me interested.
  11. I did not care for Harley in the QTV role, but Harley as unfiltered weirdo doing her best to make people break is pretty awesome. Just needs more ring time.
  12. Yeah, the scene is what we make it and what we allow. It’s why I have had multiple problems with MJF promos as well. When you go to show, they make announcements about acceptable behavior and it includes things like shitty sexist and homophobic speech, much less signs.
  13. The wild thing is in Philly for Collision those tickets START at $375, and some are part of VIP packages. But if I were TK, I might review tapes and ban certain people from shows, or at least ringside seats. There’s that dude who always holds Bully Ray signs too. And that one show a few months back where Saraya was openly calling for the cameraman to show someone on the hard camera side who was saying awful things to her (who I think did get ejected).
  14. Did it though? Crowds are pretty dead for him.
  15. I don’t know if I would go that far, and it’s not like Daniels isn’t awkward AF in the role, but at least he can bump and be physical.
  16. FFWD the two squashes. Cage and Archer as a tag team in the sense that it’s two guys I can’t stand and can FFWD through at once. The overall meta storyline had some moments with Chekhov’s Chuck and adding to OC’s development and growth. As others have said, having this storyline at the same time as the Hurt Syndicate literally coming in as outsiders is a big fuck up. Dont care about Adam Cole, don’t care about Kingdom, I’m cool on Strong. Not really interested in the Hook/Patriarchy angle, and having Kip Sabian involved makes me have less interest. Shelton-Sammy was really good to establish Shelton as a killer, Sammy was ragdolling and bumping and didn’t do anything too stupid. Briscoe-Jericho was brutal, but maybe just too much and yeah nobody at all wanted a Jericho win. Fletcher’s promo was great, and the way he responded to the crowd (especially the ad lib about Callis buying all the time he wanted) was excellent BUT the crowd wasn’t wrong that it was a little too long. The clipper thing was a shocker, and the shots at the end in the corner were fantastic. But also, why waste an apuestas? For all my talk about the Private Party elevation and Zay being the star, I don’t think they should break up yet. They do work well with the Bucks. Garcia laying in to Perry is always going to get a pop from me. BUT, the table bump was excessive on a show that’s already had multiples in a match.
  17. You summed it up well, some timing issues and some botched stuff but never fell apart and never got completely lost. And they tried some ambitious stuff. In some cases, you could see them working through every step of the process, but it was ambitious stuff. Kamille looked better than any Jade Cargill match I can recall (faint praise, to be sure). Now, Aminata is the real future star.
  18. I was thinking that while watching. He is day 1, his is the ultimate redemption, the fans have never fully turned on him, and he has a history with Moxley, along with a win. Not sure how you get there from where he currently is without rushing some things, but thst hasn’t stopped AEW in the past. Have him start going fully unhinged after losing to Switchblade or Christian or whoever. Have Dark Order confront him backstage and say something like “Adam, this isn’t you, and it’s not getting you anywhere”. Start from there making it up with them.
  19. There should be no more than 2 ladder matches a year. There should be no more than one table spot on the free TV shows per PPV cycle.
  20. The Jumping Bomb Angels?
  21. More like pop-punk diehards who hate that shitty emo gets called pop-punk, but we’re all wimps.
  22. He was definitely a decent worker but he was maybe the first wrestler to use the Internet to interact with (aka work) the smarks and this was maybe more highly regarded then he really deserved.
  23. Probably not watching this live but wanted to mention that the Garcia and Private Party team-up and their promos have me buying in more to Private Party. And that Quen hit all of his spots on Collision (with some obvious but needed modifications) AND the Silly String was actually timed and flowed pretty perfectly. Do I think they are a true threat to the Moxley Crew? Nope. Credible? Yeah, I can maybe go there.
  24. Yes and I think I even said that when they added that element to the chip, but that would also require Tony Khan being a more on-screen authority figure than any of us want.
