  1. I've spent a ton more time on the Switch. Being temporarily unemployed/quarantined has led me to spend more gaming time than ever before. Octopath Traveler This was really good. I hadn't played an rpg in ages and this one hooked me quick. A bit too easy and I always felt like I was over-leveled throughout most of it but still loved the whole the experience. The final secret boss was a huge step-up in challenge though and I made horrible choices when I split my party the first time and just went into like a 2-hour loop with him regenerating those 3 spirits. The next time around I was way more prepared and finished both phases, not without some close calls though and a ton of resurrections. FAR Lone Sails This was really short. Like I finished it in one sitting without ever really getting stuck at any of the puzzles. Looks great, but I'd give this one a pass mainly on the bang-for-buck factor given the length of game. Unravel Two I think I enjoyed this more than most. Highly recommended, gorgeous game and it kept me captivated the whole way through. The game itself was also fairly easy but the challenge levels between stages really test you. I had to resort to a Youtube tutorial on one of them ( the barn ). I'd rate this game very highly. Spirit Hunter NG Maybe I'm just not into movie/game hybrids? I enjoyed the story surrounding the characters and there were a couple of jump scares that got me really good, but the way the 'action' parts of the game played out didn't hook me and turned it into a bit of a slog. It also didn't help that I didn't realise you could fast forward dialogue/scenes until the last chapter, which made replaying the spirit encounters a real pain. West of Loathing I know this has been talked about here before, but this was an awesome game. Played as a bean collector(I think that was the name?) and enjoyed every minute of it. Not sure if there's enough to hook me there for a second playthrough though when I feel like I finished most of what was there. Currently playing through the Mario Maker 2 story mode and Mark Kart 8 GPs. Not sure what game to start next - I don't really want to jump back into a really long game after finishing Octopath so recently, so I'm thinking maybe Celestle or Candleman.
  2. Playing through a few more Switch games : Yooka Laylee and the Impossible Lair This game pretty much holds your hand the whole way through and is a casual DK style platformer. The point is to collect bees throughout the game to use as hit points in the final level - The Impossible Lair. And holy man does that final level ever lie up to its name. It has to be a good 15-20 minutes long with no checkpoints or opportunity to recover lost bees and throws some of the hardest platforming at you. Furthest I've made it through 11 attempts is 75%. Despite that, I don't think it feels cheap and am pretty committed to finishing this one. Baba is You This game just makes me feel stupid. Currently stuck on a puzzle and trying to avoid looking up the answer. Weird, ingenious in its simplicity and all kinds of fun. Also frustrating. Chaos on Deponia point and click I've put down for a couple days. Will jump in again but I'm pretty sure I'm about to finish the first main part ( getting Goal to come back to get surgery) and am expecting another big area to search. This one had one puzzle that pissed me off where you needed to go into the settings to alter the sound - I ended up having to search a walkthrough because I'd felt I'd done everything I could. I never would have considered to bring up the settings. Edit : Beat Yooka Laylee - 0 bees left and 1 second on the counter. Total 13 attempts (although it feels like a lot more)
  3. Cool, that's good to hear. I haven't thought it was actively bad, and the story even up to this point has been engaging, but it's good to know that it is worth sticking through.
  4. I bought a Switch three weeks ago because there wasn't much else in the ps4 exclusive library that I wanted. I haven't owned a Nintendo console since my N64 but have been digging it so far. Time-wise it worked out really well because a week later I found out I was off work for 6 weeks. Been blasting through a ton of games. Cuphead Not much to say that hasn't been said. I was probably a bit over-hyped as I'd been looking forward to playing it since it came out. One of the reasons I bought a Switch and enjoyed it from start to finish. Ori and the Blind Forest Someone brought this up a page or two back and I'll second how good this game is. Just a blast to play through and relatively short. Some really intense moments as well that get pretty difficult. Hollow Knight Another game I've put off for ages. Gameplay is extremely tight and the bosses can offer a real challenge. I considered going after all of the dream bosses but opted to end the game after beating the Hollow Knight. Super Mario Bros WiU Loved some of the throwbacks in this game as Super Mario 3 and World were my go-to games when I was younger. A bit jarring to bounce back and forth between this and Hollow Knight because the gameplay is so floaty but I'd still recommend this game. Valfaris Old-school Contra kind of shooter. Breezed through the game but have hit a roadblock at the end boss. I hate multi-phase boss battles because I'm just not that good/patient to actually get through them. Had him down to a sliver of health on his last phase, died and have shelved it for now. Not sure if I'll be getting back to it. 80 Days Text adventure based on the book. Tons of different options and I probably should keep notes on best routes but it's fun to jump into for a couple hours before inevitably hitting some type of roadblock. I always give up when I hit the 80 days and the furthest I've made it in my 3 playthroughs was East Coast of the US. AI : Somnia Files I just can't get into this one. I thought I'd enjoy it but I'm kind of stuck at around 6 hours in. Every time I think about picking it up I just can;t be bothered. Not sure if I'll ever force my way through this one. Golf Story Pretty good. Some moments that had me laughing but it can also be a bit of a grind. It crashed on me a few times which would be fine if it auto-saved after all of the little challenges but it doesn't. I finished all of the challenges on the pro course before crashing so ended up just skipping them all and jumping into the tournament. Aside from one of the courses (the haunted 20-shot course), I found it a bit too easy. Deponia Old school point and click. Enjoyed this one a lot and was using it as a bit of a break when I was going through Hollow Knight. I've just started part 2 today and will be going back and forth between that a couple more games I haven't decided on yet.
  5. I'm in if still possible.Waaaay too much time on my hands these days.
  6. Reminds me of the Adesanya-Gastelum fight where they just stole the show and there was no way that anything Holloway or Poirier could do was going to top it.
  7. Yeah....I'm not even going to try and score this one. I was way too invested to think about scoring it round by round.
  8. That slow-motion shot of the straight right to the hematoma was the grossest thing I've seen in awhile.
  9. Cormier lurking on the board? Glad he brought it up because it deserved to be said. I honestly skip the vast majority of WMMA fights but the high-end competitors in each division are all amazing to watch.
  10. The Joanna tweet hit a major sore spot for me as I've seen enough shit on social media from friends of mine that I've had to hold my tongue too many times already. I still call them out on their backwards racist bs but I stop short from saying what I really feel. I can't remember when the last time I actively rooted against a fighter because of something they said - to me, it's to be expected and come with the territory. Like I said though, she hit a nerve and I'd love to see her humbled in this fight.
  11. I was surprised they did the quick interview with Wilder as well but he was incredibly lucid all things considered, and once he got over the initial disappointment seemed to understand the towel was for the best. Meanwhile I stub my toe, can't put five words together without a couple expletives mixed in, and then blame it on the table. Still loving this HW scene revival. I'd actually prefer Fury-Wilder III at this point but really any combination of the top 3 will be amazing.
  12. Was that the judge in the fight? If so, jeeeeesus, we've found the one person legit smoking crack.
  13. 3 was the toss-up round for me as well, though I gave it to Reyes. Easy people, you're letting your dreams of Jones finally lose cloud your judgements. I don't agree with the result but it was far from a robbery.
  14. I don't think either guy should have got a 4-1 but it definitely wasn't Jones. I had the fight the same as you, 3-2 Reyes. Close enough fight that I"m fine with the decision though. Edit- I'm an idiot because no way Reyes could have got four rounds with the last two being so dominant. Move along.
  15. I've got 3-1 Reyes but I could see a SD either way here and wouldn't be upset about it.
  16. Cruikshank dd come out to Real American if my memory serves correctly. 2021 has to be a make or break year for MVP. Either he takes the plunge and gets in there with contenders on a regular basis or continues taking tune-up fights in his prime. I get that this card was a bit of an exception with the Bellator-Rizin motif but he's going to be 33 by the time his next fight rolls around.
  17. I finally took a plunge into the Dark Souls universe with part 3. Ran into Sister Friede and while I can get through the first two stages easily enough, I get absolutely smashed in the third stage. It's been a couple weeks since I last picked it up and I'm not sure if I am going to again. I should at least go back and finish the main game though.
  18. Damn, I was hoping Cub just tweaked his knee and didn't do any real damage. I would have rather seen a few more grapplers in the actual tournament like if they had given each team a ringer. Thought the show was fine for what it was though. I mentioned my bandwidth issues / problem with Fight Pass in the UFC 245 thread but I had to skip through large portions of this show because I didn't have the option to lower the VQ anymore. I hope this is something that gets changed or I might need to finally cancel my subscription. Burns went super easy on Saku though, didn't he? I skipped through the bout in 2-3 minute intervals but it looked like he gave him a gift there knowing his team was still winning.
  19. I could have gone without hearing Colby say he broke his jaw. Now I'm clenching every time Usman lands a shot to the face and that's a lot. Colby has his best round of the fight as far as damage goes as he kind of-sort of staggers Usman a couple of times. Here's your friendly reminder - we might not agree with each fighter's personal views but man, we have got to respect them as athletes. Dude's tough as nails.
  20. Speaking of coaches having great years, hasn't Hooft had a really good year too? I thought there was someone else aside from Usman he trained to a title or title fight? Admittedly, I'm never up to date on coaches/teams.
