You make a good case and left out what I think is his best color work. The cover of  Fantastic Novels for Merrit's The Snake Mother. Simply stunning. I'll see if I can find it on-line... My copy is in storage and I've too much on my plate today to go up there and rummage around in six boxes of pulps... ;-)
