  1. Akiya Anzawa was the shit though... but Suzuki did the same thing during his All Japan runs. For some reason he had a particular fascination with torturing Brute Issei and actually dislocated his shoulder and Brute ended up retiring within a month or so later.
  2. Sooooo Go Shiozaki won the TC on 1/3 since no one mentioned it... Kea, Tenryu, and TARU are working the Baba Memorial show
  3. I echo the sentiments of everyone. Stuart let me come in and fuck up All Japan results during my teen years, but he also stayed on me, and it's definitely helped my journalism skills today. I'm forever grateful to him.

  5. Gotta love WRESTLE-1 announcing Keiji Muto's 30th Anniversary Sumo Hall show, in front of 100 fans at Sumo Hall. But, I am sure they will put on a better card there.
  6. Some information about the formation of Akiyama's All Japan. Cable TV Yamagata is the sponsor behind it all. I was initially worried about how Akiyama was going to get the money to run the company, but through mending fences with Motoko Baba, he was able to secure a deal with the station. Their plan is to make All Japan a fan friendly company again, much akin to what Giant Baba did while he was alive. They will broadcast over 100 matches through television (national and cable) and their internet services, and have invested 10% of their capital into All Japan. TVY is worth 100 M yen. They will also be in charge of the new fan club and goods that All Japan produces. OAN, ticket sales have gone through the roof within the last few days. It's very clear that the boycott from fans had more to do with Shiraishi staying, then Muto leaving.
  7. Today marks the first day of Jun Akiyama as president of "All Japan Pro-Wrestling". The parent company sponsoring the company is Red Wall LTD. Full tour cards were released but these are the big shows with all titles on the line, no match order has been determined.[/align] AJPW, 7/12/14 Osaka BODYMAKER COLOSSEUM #2 1. 8. All Japan (Shuji Kondo) booked the BURNING invasion pretty good last year.
  9. Um, why? Is he still retaining ownership of the company (i.e., any profit the company made would be his in some form or other. What am I saying? AJ and profit probably don't belong in the same sentence these days)? Or does the AJ name have that little value to it? Or is it more a clase that Shiraishi can't make any money from it if the talent left? Me confused. Why can't AJ be like the other respectable Japanese wrestling promotions and split into two smaller, sleazier companies when it fails to turn a profit? From what I recall, Shirashi's company was only planning on buying AJPW just to flip it, and turn a profit anyway. Maybe they finally had enough and decided that it wasn't worth anymore time or money and just cut their losses. Right. Shiraishi attempted to sell the company back to Muto and negotiations fell through last June, basically because it was cheaper for Muto to use the WRESTLE-1 name and take the talent with him, then to try and buy the trademarks from Shiraishi. That coupled with the fact that he'd have to deal with Motoko again (for dojo usage and the belts that she's been wanting back for years) all had a deciding factor on whether they stayed or left. Shiraishi wanted to give to make Akiyama or Suwama the president in July and both declined, so the fact that Akiyama is finally becoming president is a shout to how bad things really must be in the office. OAN, Muto and Funaki just did some press plugging a movie or something, and Muto was asked about his thoughts on Akiyama becoming president. He basically said he didn't know, and he didn't care... sooooo, he seems pretty persistent keeping that shitty W-1 promotion going.
  10. Ok, so there is no new company, Akiyama's just going to establish a new management company. Shiraishi is giving him everything free of charge. Akiyama has Motoko Baba's "support", meaning he can use the dojo and might get the Triple Crown belts back, and Kobashi is lending his full support, whatever that means.
  11. Only if he wears his Dynamic Dudes gear.....
  12. Is she bringing the belts.... or nah?
  13. Got a couple of inboxes on this one... I've heard some rumors for a while now, but I really don't care what any of them do anymore.
  14. IDGAF what anyone says, Luger was the shit from 88 - 90. That match did a good job of turning Luger from one of 89's biggest smug heels to one of 1990's biggest faces.
  15. Shuttle Loop Buster I believe
  16. Fuck yeah for Doom's power jazz theme not being dubbed over....
  17. Bought it today... watched GAB 89 and the majority is unscathed.... awesome hearing the original theme as well as Sting, Muta, and Luger's original
