  1. Forgot to mention, you can hide your blip in DMs by either going into cover or pressing down the left thumbstick. Very useful. Shooting gives your position away, though I think having silenced weapons helps with that. Doesn't work in freemode though. Yep. Silenced and melee weapons and thrown explosives do not give away your position in DM's but your blip is always visible when you are in free mode. One of the perks you can earn is to have Lester Crest hide your position on the map. He can "turn off your dot" for one minute of real time (an hour in game time) for a small fee. This works in free mode and in deathmatches, although most people frown upon using perks in deathmatches. I didn't know that about the weapons. I just assumed the silencer reduced the detection range. I didn't know it eliminated it completely. Useful, that. I am not sure, but I think that the act of reloading still makes enough noise to put your blip up on the map. We might have to experiment with that in a crew DM, just to find out.

  3. Missions are probably the best. You can join random missions from the phone. Some of them will give you 3K-4K RP.
  4. That would be how he does it, yes. You can sort of jog that way by holding down the sprint button. Can't do a full out button mashing sprint though. I think you also have to climb stairs slowly, though I'm not sure there.
  5. Well, it's certainly not as lucrative as in GTA.
  6. This may be the most useful piece of advice. You'll get a feel for what works and what doesn't, and what you can expect from other players. The lumps happen to everybody, especially if your opponent is competent with the heavy sniper.

  8. My K/D ratio has definitely improved since I switched from mainly DMs to freemode murdering. If you're gonna stick with DMs, matches with a lot of players are easier on the K/D. Matches with 3 or 4 people are more often (though certainly not always) hardcore DM guys. Big team matches will have their share of witless idiots who will be happy to run right into your sights.
  9. I'm really bad about wandering off. It doesn't help that spawns seem to have been moved further away from your last spot lately. I ended the night up against most folks, though Specialist kicked my ass. Finally got to utilize the grenade launcher trick melraz showed me a while back (bank shot off a building to get somebody taking cover between a building and a low wall.) Got two kills that way, which was nice. There were a couple times last night when I would've done the same, had I got one of those messages. It was frustrating all around. There were a couple of times where I got lit up simply for not paying attention to when Robert went passive EVEN WHEN HE SAID MULTIPLE TIMES "I AM GOING TO FEED MY DOGS" OVER GAME CHAT~! That's my own damn fault. Then ther were other times when I would set up shop only to find you guys were like nine neighborhoods away. Warn a brotha when you are going to move! The crew that held the mall position were equal parts coordinated and cheating. That Specialist asshole was definitely using a lag switch because he had ridiculous speed and agility, but he knew how to cover his boys. They were no further than one city block away from each other at all times. We definitely could've been better coordinated attacking the mall. Dude can't target all of us at once. The rest of us could've had sniper sights on him while one guy made his move. I kept getting distracted by other dots and wound up chasing them all over the map instead of staying on target. Specialist didn't need his buddies. He came back out later by himself and killed the everybody. I finally put his skills to use by taking cover under him and racking up easy kills on people that were distracted by him. I gotta get better about at least warning y'all I'm gonna go do that. At least give heads up. Something like "Hey guys, you know those 5 read dots bunched up at the expensive apartment. I'm gonna drive this sticky bomb rigged car right into all their POVs and piss em all off." That's what triggered that one big firefight.
  10. It might be best to stick to missions, races, etc for a bit till you've leveled up a bit. Most people will be a higher level than you for now, and will have weapons and health advantages. Also, their shooting skills will be ranked up. Survivals are a good place to improve your shooting skills. Your health will improve about every 20 levels. If you're on with some of us, we can get you through some of the higher level missions that will level you up in a hurry, and provide good payouts as well. Buy the special carbine and/or bullpup rifle if you haven't already. For DMs, you may want to stick to locked weapons matches till you can buy better ones. You can shift the auto aim slightly upwards with the thumbstick to go for headshots. It takes a bit of practice, but It's helpful once you get used to it. Also, wearing a helmet provides a bit of protection from headshots. What Stout and JT said - learn the Mary Lou (combat roll) now. It's press X with the left trigger held down. I pretty much run around with the left trigger held down at all times. It's become such a habit I find myself doing it in solo rooms with nothing going on.
  11. My headset is the original, release model that only has one earpiece. At one point I was listening to Stout and Mis explain that stuff to RUkered in one ear, while listening to my wife recite the Novena (Rosary) prayer in the other. The dichotomy was a bit unsettling. I can't really confirm that there was any cheating going on, but some players sure did seem to be a lot more durable and faster than usual. I have killed players with one Heavy Sniper headshot even when they are wearing motorcycle helmets. Two headshots did not bring down some players with no head protection. Additionally last night, I had issues killing a Rank 100 Mary Lou at point blank range with an Auto Shotty but had no problems kiling a Rank 200 guy from a fair distance away with the same weapon. Sometimes you gotta call bullshit. There was definitely something up in that first room we were in. It was behaving exactly like the room we were in a couple weeks ago where we thought somebody was cheating, and where others were accusing us of doing it. I tried to steal a Baller, but the NPC couldn't be yanked out. I tried again on the same car, and the driver switched from a woman to a man. Tried again I was able to get into the driver's seat even though the NPC was still sitting in it. Drove for a few feet before the car disappeared on me. That's the sort of stuff we were seeing in that other room a couple weeks back.
  12. Any of the DMs can be either team or normal mode. I've done 16 man normal mode matches in fairly enclosed quarters a few times. The results were about what you'd expect.
  13. I'm not bitter at that chopper trick. Nope, not at all You just wish you thought of it first. Mainly I just want my DM opponents to wander in front of my sights, and then stand there, oblivious. It's annoying when they do clever shit like that.
  14. I'm not bitter at that chopper trick. Nope, not at all
  15. I got somebody with chopper blades in a DM once. I've occasionally been able to take out a player in another chopper with a buzzard, but mostly I'm useless in a chopper.
  16. It just kinda depends on the night. Usually most people are off by 10 eastern. There's also the periodic, late night runs where a few of us find ourselves on at the same time and run roughshod over freemode. That's gone on so long sometimes that the damned sun has come up. Late night murdering keeps you young at heart.
  17. I got to where you had to free Lance from the drug cartel or whatever they were, and I died every time I would have to make an attack. I'm replaying VC again and there are several missions that induce rage quitting because the cops are kamikaze happy bastards and apparently every other driver on the streets is coked out. The Driver race in particular is probably the single most frustrating mission in any GTA game because it really is dumb luck depending on traffic if you can beat Hillary,. It will either take you one try or about 30, depeding on which racer some random car decides to hit. I only ever managed to beat Hillary legit one time. Usually I just stuck a stock car near the start line, and jumped into it as soon as the race started.
  18. Read some of online stuff for that crew during lunch and it's pretty much hilarious. It's like they have no concept of self awareness. All their different, individual crews seem to have LORD as the title, rather than REAP. I've run into a few REAP guys, and most of them were pretty good. Never seen a LORD around that I've noticed. The list of rules, procedures, etc is insane. Our rules boil down to kill all dots, but especially the ones that have annoyed us for whatever reason.
  19. I have a nasty habit of accidentally picking up the grenade launcher when I mean to grab the assault SG, and then not realizing it till I've fired a grenade. I've failed at least one mission that way. I only keep one weapon of each type, except thrown stuff, heavy weapons, and assault rifles. The only problem weapon is the Gusenberg, which I still can't drop. That's why I didn't buy any of the weapons from the latest update.
  20. I'm definitely headed in the wrong way moneywise. I still got my $2k bonus in the middle of all that carnage last night. I really don't think you can blow up enough cars to get a bad sport rating.
  21. Stout, could you hear me after melraz left? I couldn't hear anything from you. Another expensive night in freemode. By the time I'd been in the game 15 minutes I'd already splashed out on an ignition bomb for the high priority vehicle and blown up 5 personal vehicles - 3 Zentornos and 2 Adders. Added a bunch more later on, including more Zentornos and Adders, at least two Entities, a Turismo, and several motorcycles. Finished the night off with a pair of muscle cars back to back. Ended up down 200K, and that was with earning about 75K for the night from various sources. I gotta cut down. The glitcher (Kroomp or something like that) in the sky was terribly carried away with his own cleverness. At least until Herby and I sniped him. Then we were in the middle of trying the sticky bomb trick on a tank when glitch boy tried to run me down with his Zentorno. I went poorly for him.
  22. The property thing makes me want to have my female character join up, and then turn heel kill every damned one of them when they aren't paying attention. I could probably sell it too. My character certainly looks like she has a meth addiction. Perfect old lady material. I don't think I've ever run into these clowns though. I think I'd remember it. I'd be thinking "why do all the numbnuts keep coming up to me on choppers and getting shot in the face?" Probably spend 95% of their time in crew only rooms to avoid getting shot to pieces.
  23. I haven't touched single player in weeks, and I'm about where Stout is, except I've done the main heist. Haven't done any of the assassinations other than the first, and haven't bought a single business. I've found one murder clue accidentally while hiding from the cops, and have seen nothing about UFOs yet. I honestly don't know if I'll ever finish the rest of the game. If I'm gonna play GTA, I'd rather play with y'all than do single player. I'll probably get an xbone for either Destiny or Inquisition, and I'm not sure I'll ever come back to the single player after that.
  24. No GTA for me yesterday. Stupid construction crew working behind us cleared a bunch of trees and left em piled against my back fence. As much as I appreciated them creating a giant fire hazard and rat/snake habitat right against my fence I decided it had to go. Especially after I caught that coral snake in the front yard. So I spent my evening hauling it all away from my house and depositing it right in the middle of their construction area. Wound up falling asleep early for once afterwards. I'll hopefully be on some early, as well as the night shift stuff if anybody else is on.
  25. If I see a purple car, I know it's Phil, and I also know that I'm about to crash into it. At least it seemed that way last night.
