  1. OK. So Kaito was wrong (no one saw the Hikuleo express coming). Okada and Ospreay. Finlay clinches it with a win over Eddie. Unfortunately EVIL over Shingo despite LIJ actually coming out to stop the shenanigans. One more night to go!
  2. KAIRI gave a press conference yesterday. She kept mum on if she was going to the WWE but the "as soon as this week" thing is put to rest as she said she will go on an indefinite hiatus at the end of September and will fulfill any appearances she has already booked. https://karensensei.substack.com/p/kairi-holds-personal-press-conference
  3. KAIRI is going to be taking an indefinite break after this September. I think there were rumours going around that she was re-signing with the WWE but who knows. I mean, the blog that I'm linking to has a transcript of her press conference and they were reporting that she might be going. English translation of the transcript of her press conference: https://karensensei.substack.com/p/kairi-holds-personal-press-conference
  4. I've been generally lukewarm on Nozaki but thought he did really well last night. Genkai and Mentai Kid are the forever rivals of Kyushu Pro and Kodai emphatically pinned both of them: Ending sequence was Genkai has Mentai Kid up for something, Kodai SPEARS Genkai out of his boots and then he debuted a new finisher, similar to Takagi's Last of the Dragon, the Heavy Tank Driver on Mentai, puts Genkai on Mentai and pins them both. And then Genkai carries Mentai out to the back in a sign of things to come. Since he's already just beaten the two big names of Kyushu Pro I'm thinking that he's going to get a bunch of outside challengers and perhaps that will open more roads for him.
  5. Went to the show. The number seems believable. As I said before, they gave away tickets for the 2nd and 3rd floor sections the day of but they sold out the floor tickets prior. They didn't utilize the whole floor space like NJPW and Dragon Gate do (for Dontaku and Final Gate respectively). They didn't fill up all of the 3rd floor, which were available right before the show started but the 2nd floor , which people had to line up for in three waves in the morning seemed completely full.
  6. "Fuck you Tsuji! そして (soshite - and) Fuck you Tsuji!"
  7. Well, A Block is set. SANADA completed clean sweep despite the possible hilarity of a Chase Owens win. Chase did get to do a Paradise Lock and Skull End to the champ though. And..
  8. They usually keep their shows up on youtube, right? Anyway, the main was action packed. Speaking of packs, a sixpack-less Ibushi looked like a guy who hasn't wrestled regularly in the past two years but also I think he was sick the night before the show.
  9. GLEAT card for tonight. The main event is Ibushi's team vs El Lindaman's team in an elimination match: https://proresu-today.com/archives/224624/ Kyushu Pro will have their anniversary show on Sunday. Minoru Suzuki and Tomoaki Honma will appear. It's in the Kokusai Center where NJPW usually holds Dontaku but 2nd and 3rd floor seats will be free for all comers. https://proresu-today.com/archives/224345/
  10. Main events of the last days are set (this usually plays into who is moving on): 8/5 Umino vs Hikuleo 8/6 Ospreay vs El-P 8/8 Takagi vs EVIL 8/9 Tanahashi vs Naito
  11. NJPW World is going to carry the 8/11 Freedoms show on PPV. It has Despy and Hiromu on it.
  12. If they stick to the schedule, Nozomi 371 (for some reason that poster has it as 317 but the site says 371) leaves Tokyo at 13:09 and arrives in Nagoya at 14:45. That is with two scheduled stops towards the beginning of the trip. I think that's why they chose this route because it will go over an hour uninterrupted by any stops. Before people get too excited, they are only renting one car for this. They won't be fighting throughout the entire train.
  13. Anytime a wrestler moves to a new promotion, their "wrestling clock" should be reset. Thus my candidates for Rookie of the Year include Jeff Jarrett, Jake Lee and TAJIRI.
  14. They don't directly link to the fanclub on their twitter or youtube so yeah, they could improve their own visibility. And getting actual matches for 500 yen makes it a better deal than the AJPW fan club, which is also at 500 yen. It would be easier if they put the matches on the AJPW TV though (I don't think they are on there).
  15. I think they are being leaked from the fanclub site? Do these match up? https://evolutionofficialfc.com/movie
  16. I think it might be SANADA and Kaito out of A, Okada and Ospreay out of B (it gives El-P a chance for a win against Ospreay), Finley and whoever wins on the last night between Shingo and EVIL out of C and Cobb and possibly Naito out of D. Zack is ahead right now but we can't put it past NJPW to have Naito win out, especially if his last obstacle is Tanahashi. Safe picks to be sure.
  17. Tomorrow is headlined by Okada vs Ospreay. SANADA vs Narita should be interesting as the other Musketeers should pick up wins. Other than that not much going on other than a match that people would have hated simply for the people in it in YOSHI-HASHI vs TAICHI. Oh how times have changed.
  18. SANADA showed he can do these right up to the time limit matches well during the TV title tournament. I thought Kiyomiya was going to go the distance but him almost getting there shows that he's above the Reiwa Musketeers. Okada should have given points to YOSHI-HASHI.
  19. Tonight's main event (HOT BC vs Rebel BC or whatever it's called) featured four ref bumps (as in four different refs).
  20. The Douki (with J5Gs included) shampoo commercial. I think it might only be for the G-1 shows - as in on the screen at the arena during breaks. Not sure. Anyway, he says that it seems familiar and that's because it's basically the current Merit shampoo spot with the J5Gs swapped in (someone links it in response to Douki). And Douki gets to do the mom's hair toss at the end.
  21. Deadline, Variety, Rolling Stone and a bunch of other sites/magazines that cover the entertainment biz are owned by Penske Media Corporation. Jay Penske (son of Roger Penske, yes, the racing guy) is a member of the AMPTP.
  22. Douki getting a tie-up with a major shampoo brand in Japan is both random and great. He had been using it for years but he also tweeted that he brought some with him on this past trip and that might have been what got their attention.
  23. With one post (not a video, not an in-show angle - just essentially a blog post), NJPW got everyone from the wrestlers named - Tsuji is all "don't lump me in with those losers" - to everyone else - even Fujita was like "wtf man?" - worked up. And this is all probably just to promote Strong Spirits.
