  1. Just untrained kids running free shows. It's the equivalent of backyard wrestling here. Yes, backyard wrestling in Japan is run smoother than some actual legit promotions elsewhere. They'll wait outside bigger shows and hand out glossy, full color fliers. Aki Shizuku on this: "After your debut, you started wrestling in Gaku-puro. What did you learn by doing that? What is the difference between Gaku-puro and professional wrestling? Gaku-puro wrestlers are not a professional and are not athletes. Their physical ability and strength is at the level of ordinary students. Therefore, it is most important that they use ingenuity and make characters that utilizing their own unique abilities. They are university students, so they have an academic approach to puroresu. “The first phase of puroresu is to introduce myself to the audience”, was the advice from a member of Temple Puroresu that affected me the most. I had experience in women’s professional wrestling organization and similar basic skills, but I had no skills to tell audience about my unique advantage. After getting that advice, I actively incorporated certain moves, leading to my own style now. If there was no encounter with Gaku-puro, the present version of myself would not exist." http://www.dirtydirtysheets.com/2011/10/25/aki-shizuku-the-dirty-dirty-sheets-interview/
  2. Speaking of Joshi overcoming serious illness, here's the Act Yasukawa story: http://www.dirtydirtysheets.com/2014/03/13/act-yasukawa-the-dirty-dirty-sheets-interview/
  3. Quick...someone get these girlies a restraining order. I hope you also post this whenever people slobber over Punk and Danielson.
  4. Kana vs Arisa at JWP was one of the best matches I've ever seen live. Definitely worth listing or at least checking out once it gets on DVD. Unfortunately, JWP uses single layer discs for their releases so we might not get the entire 28 minutes on tape.
  5. The undercard was nothing of note, but holy hell the main event was possibly the best match I've seen live. Some highlights here (please skip past Hanako vs Takako): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGPYI7-fpE4&feature=youtu.be
  6. Kana AKA BITW2013 got new gear and entrance attire last night:
  7. Saki Akai's debut wasn't exactly hidden. It was a big show and they made a big deal about her. Clearly, the votes came from people who never watch Joshi but do possibly keep up with DDT.
  8. I don't think you need Hollywood accounting to explain why a movie starring Colin Farrell, Noomi Rapace, and Terrance Howard cost $30 million.
  9. I think people who call it art are blithering idiots. I love the pro wres, and it's not art. So far your argument seems to be "The wrestling I watch is stupid crap therefore all wrestling is stupid and also not art." I may be off base, but so far it's not very convincing.
  10. Well if all you watch is Raw, sure I guess, but even then that doesn't say it's not art. Might be bad art, but it's art.
  11. Seriously? I didn't think this was a question anymore in 2013. That Cabana guy's podcast isn't The Sport of Wrestling Podcast and his CHIKARA spinoff wasn't Wrestling Is Business. Weird. No it's not. Most people I talk to, fans, wrestlers, promoters, and even people who don't watch seem to understand pro wrestling is an art form. A violent art, but still an art.

  13. Speak for yourself. As someone who hasn't watched for years I can fully experience the joy of laughing at pictures Raw's idiocy without any feelings of guilt or hypocrisy. Your username... intrigues me. Surely you're not serious? About?

  15. Never understood why TNA kept her around so long with her face covered up. And just as a manager for much of the time, not even wrestling. The world needed another exploitive Muslim gimmick I guess.
