  1. This is crazy ya'll. If you look I registered years ago. I've been on other boards with this name since the 90's.
  2. So wait, you just think this all happened by magic then? Dave's tweet had nothing to do with this? Not clear what you're saying tbh.
  3. Okay guys I'm not someone else. Look me up on PWO. Find me on Twitter.
  4. Not talking about MMA. He has been the most influential voice in wrestling for 20 years. His reporting changed our experience as viewers of the entire medium. No one else on wrestling Twitter has had that kind of influence. Why would anyone dispute that at this point?
  5. I am sort of new posting here so I have no idea about Thibs. Now you're just being thick. Someone who is influential does not have to be a tastemaker. We are all influential. He's the loudest voice. Obviously. It has been this way for decades. Twitter has only enhanced it since he never stops tweeting.
  6. Nah, I'm with ya even if I wasn't in the original conversation. A lot of that needed to be hashed out re: post Mania plans for New Day. Bring on the Big E Hall of Pain tbh.
  7. It defies old school logic that ignores the influence of social media, absolutely. And I'm not using the Glastonbury or Mania argument because as you said, this is brand new territory and hose events have been going for decades. Meltzer challenged them to do something that had not been done in 20 years. The tweet was the conception. None of this happens without it because Twitter is bigger than wrestling and Dave has the most influential wrestling account on Twitter. People saw the tweet, they dug the concept of the challenge, and they were hooked. The Bucks and Cody probably knew within the first week based on the social media numbers where this was headed. So Twitter created AEW and the Jaguars should pay them dividends basically.
  8. There needs to be something big from the RAW Men's Main Event scene here. They can't really expect Rollins-Lesnar to get over with literally no build, can they? If Seth isn't cleared, maybe we get a Lesnar title defense on the fly?
  9. They promoted the experience of seeing a non-WWE show with a 10,000 person crowd which became the draw, sure. They did not promote themselves as these big box office attractions, it was always the concept that drew attention. And then all the talent wanted in once they saw it trending so much. It was just as much a show promoted by the internet fanbase as it was promoted by Cody. They certainly were not his fanbase before this started. AEW is the same thing. It will never be about Cody or the Bucks. It will always be about being a mainstream alternative to WWE. And they will succeed, not because people enjoy the Bucks or Cody, but because fans want a mainstream alternative to WWE.
  10. It's true. Don't get me wrong, Big Dave set the events in motion and Cody and the Bucks worked very hard and made all the right moves. But they weren't drawing even half those size crowds with ROH or NJPW. The show itself was the draw. Now the draw is "we're creating a mainstream promotion to rival the WWE and don't you want to be a part of that?"
  11. The draw for All In was "we're putting on a show with 10, 000 fans and don't you want to be a part of that?" Had nothing to do with any of the talent or promoters. It was totally a "if you build it, they will come" situation. Somehow it worked.
  12. Honestly the best role for Cena would be to make him the Host, like The Rock and Hogan have been in previous years.
  13. It's not controversial at all to say Mysterio got the most out of Angle with their sprints. They go balls out every time and compact every positive aspect of Angle into Rey's reductionist formula, leaving no fat around the edges. It's bite-sized Omega-Okada. Check out their match from the 1/23/03 Smackdown. Eddie also worked really smart with Angle and they had a fun series. And of course they all worked pretty well together in the Smackdown Six tag stuff. Didn't care at all for the Lesnar series, but Austin cut a hell of a pace with Angle in 2001. Summer Slam is a hell of a fight, from what I recall.
