  1. Its probably because I've been playing too much 2k19 before bed, but I've had two dreams in the last month where R-Truth and Elias are fighting for the hardcore title at a gas station, so naturally I want it to be a real thing,
  2. I thought it was supposed to be on HBO but I'm not 100%
  3. Club La Vela! A cursory Google search says yes. It also kinda already looks like a wrestling taping is going on minus the ring these days
  4. I'll be honest: as someone who preferred (good) WCW to everything else for a long time, the connection Cody has to it through being Dusty's son makes me very hopeful. With only having run a single show (kinda), things like this make AEW feel so much more legitimate than TNA or XWF. Not to be a dick, but Jimmy Hart, Hogan, etc. didn't have billionaire money behind them at that point so I'm just not really sure where this comparison comes from-- is it just the general idea of trying to fill the void of, as we call it, the theoretical no. 2 fed?
  5. I have never travelled to a WM or anything, but if BATB makes a comeback, I might have to get on a plane
  6. Now we know the real reason everyone wishes they could stay at NXT
  7. Saw one recently where the NHL made a "walk with Elias" reference about a highlight of a player w the same name
  8. Oooooof. I gotta hear ( a HIPAA-compliant version of) this one
  9. Ah, understood. I'm a little less upset now. New Haven's great (Modern > Pepe's. Never tried Sally's. Bar is good but it's a different thing.) but my two favorite CT spots are by far Vinny's in Bridgeport and Papa's in Milford. Colony Grill in Stamford is great too but again, kind of a different thing. @Tromatagon I know what I said ?
  10. Dude you live in Connecticut, the pizza capital of THE WORLD. This post is blowing my mind right now
  11. Whoa. I read about that recently when the guy who recaps those old observers on Reddit touched on it, but I never saw tape of it
  12. Good look. I might have to check that out. NXT is a little out of my price range. I feel super bad for my co worker who got tickets when they went on sale. Paid a ton of cash and thought he was going to get what is now apparently the AEW roster. On a similar note, I'll probably be going up to Hartford to check out MITB in May so if any of you guys are going we should grab some beers or something
  13. Re: Gene Snitsky, I just want to give a shout to him for having some of the most badass ring music in WWF history. To the point where I wondered if it was that "unreleased" theme that Zakk Wylde supposedly/allegedly did for Steve Austin after he turned in 2001 Put me in the camp of those who always thought it was a reference to taking testosterone. There's some apochryphal story out there, I can't even remember who it was attributed to "Why's he called Test? Look at him!" I definitely remember "stuffing instead of potatoes" but the Benoit one I'm not sure about. I thought people were actually just typing out "Voldemort"
  14. Its a very Giant Gonzalez-esque dilemma: are we supposed to believe it's his nude man bod or not?
  15. That thread is a super fun read for someone who isn't as intimately familiar with the origins/inner workings of the NWA as I should be
  16. Agree stagnation is a huge issue (13 time champ Randy Orton anyone?) but it's such a different landscape now when you've got a PPV/Takeover week and you've got to fill 13 hours of TV. Content is King in these times, so I think you'll be seeing today's guys stick around much, much longer especially with these new TV deals and possible competition afoot. Actually, it really isn't much different than WCW having guys like Eaton, Duggan, Barry Darsow, John Nord, Enos/Bloom, etc. doing jobs on the weekend shows, except now it's (let's say) Dolph on Main Event. Someone's gotta be in that spot, why not have it be a guy with some name recognition? I don't give a shit I'm down for another Tatanka mini-run or whatever
  17. And if not, at least the side effects will have him making manic, rambling posts about old Nitro episodes for us all to enjoy. Not that Id know anything about that.
  18. What was the fighters name again? Off topic but my girlfriend read this story (or a similar) somewhere, and is insistent Roderick Strong got beat up by his wife.
  19. I don't know if I can agree with your "synonymous" point, but I saw her in a 4 on 4 match at a house show last summer and she got a bigger pop than anyone I've ever seen live in that building except maybe Hogan, Flair or Michaels
  20. The first time I ever ate a slim Jim as a kid I was insanely disappointed it didn't make the snap sound from the commercial. It was right after little league too, so my whole team witnessed me take a massive bite of this thing and snap it away from my mouth just like Macho only to get nothing. I threw it out and bought a hot dog.
  21. Elias' segment better have a lot of Jameis Winston material. Certainly there's some things you can't touch on a PG show, but at least bring up the crab legs.
  22. Following directions to use the indie thread now that the AEW thread is closed: Saw this while dicking around at work. Not sure if the rumors of AEW on TBS have died down, but this can't be helpful: https://www.google.com/amp/s/deadline.com/2019/02/turner-boss-david-levy-plans-exit-as-part-of-warnermedia-reorganization-ending-tenure-marked-by-sports-wins-1202567532/amp/
  23. I think it's the real footage too because there's a continuity error where Cena comes out on the older Raw set and then when Paige enters it's on the modern day set. I was wondering if maybe by making Zelina not use AJ's gear they were either prepared to either edit her name out if necessary (for legal reasons, creative reasons, or otherwise) and go with someone fictional or generic, or if maybe they wanted to do a variation on the fake Diesel/Razor-esque thing of them owning the "character" of AJ Lee but having it not be the real life likeness of the woman who was on WWE TV.
  24. Anyone see this thing? Tried to find a thread in both the movie folder and wrestling folder but didn't see anything, so my apologies if this is redundant. Decent enough flick with a lot of creative liberties taken. Definitely had Rock's finger prints all over it, making it wrestling-centric but palatable for mainstream audiences The guy behind us in the theater had a Braun Strowman shirt on and laughed at my "I heard the sequel's wild" joke on the way out, so that made it worth the $5 Tuesday price of admission.
  25. Hey how about Sting vs. Foley from the 2008 or 9 edition? Way better than it had any right to be whatsoever given the age and mileage of both men. I haven't seen it since it aired so maybe it was trash but I remember thinking at the time geez these guys are working their asses off right now. At the time you're only ten years removed from Hogan and Piper shitting it up in the cage at Havoc around the same age, so the bar wasn't super high
