  1. Zorro is running a (about) once a month indie promotion in Monterrey called Kaoz. He's bringing in Penta on an upcoming show, so they have not wrestled yet. They're not putting video online, so it's only visible if other people post clips.
  2. They will be repeating this episode next week at 6pm CT, probably a one-off because it aired on the holiday.
  3. They put Angel Mortal Jr. under the outfit a few months ago. He hadn't been on TV a whole lot before then - you might have seen him in the rookies matches at TripleMania - but he's pretty good. Ultimo Gladiador left AAA and is working indies now.
  4. The Crash is still a thing, running next weekend, and Fenix & Penta are still working that show. Konnna formally took over booking on the Tijuana show. It's clearer in hindsight that Rey de Reyes was the breaking point for Vampiro being in charge, Dorian & Konnan agreed on a deal for Konnan to come back at some point later, and Konnan was already working behind the scenes at some point before the Tijuana show. Wagner leaving had less to do with what was happening in the indies and more what he saw coming in AAA. He (and his son) did not figure to be a big part of plans with Konnan in charge, so he got out instead of being moved down.
  5. The story is the original location was booked out to someone else by the time they got the green light to tape.
  6. I strongly recommend LU writers DeJoseph and Roach on this TwitWow podcast if you're interested in the different ideas that were considered and close to occurring on LU but didn't happen for one reason or another. They did say that Angelico was the other choice for the title win that went to Sexy Star and went into the whys of the decision. It would've been a one week title reign at that point either way, but it's clear they were super high on Angelico and his injuries were horrible luck.
  7. It probably will air on SamuraiTV. They aired all three seasons everyone else that was a normal TV deal (not Netflix) The other thing about Arolucha is they ran a single TV taping, were blown away by the response, and were able to put together (or put the finishing touches) on 10 live shows right away. It didn't seem that hard for them to do it. It's a matter of wanting to do it. (We should probably make a new thread.)
  8. Right, red tights is Cometa. Jimmy is suspenders.
  9. this is a long post about nothing important. One thing that stuck out for me that podcast was the explanation of Sexy Star's title reign as "LU needed someone who could lose to Johnny Mundo repeatedly in title matches without breaking the character" The last part explains why it Pentagon couldn't be part of the title story, at least in their opinion. The first part seems to reveal they had decided on this path as far back as Ultima Lucha 2 when Sexy Star won the Gift of the Gods - that was done with the idea Johnny would beat her for it, then use it to beat her again to take the main titles from her. It previously sounded like they were open up to other possibilities even as late as the week of the show, and maybe they had an off ramp, but the idea that Ivelisse (or Angelico) was in line to win before they got hurt that I've speculated on doesn't fit that story. The No Mas match wasn't long before the Gift of the Gods match she won (the second one that season), and I'd guess that gave them the confidence to run with her winning the big belt. I was looking if anyone else would've fit that Worldwide Underground from that Gift of the Gods match. Mariposa, Marty and Siniestro de la Muerte were the rudos in the match, and those would not work. Killshot was there too, but he and Marty still hadn't finished their feud, and Killshot would've been a hard sell as a long term title challenger at point. Daga too, and LU would've been screwed since he was unavailable for most of the season. Night Claw versus Johnny Mundo and the Worldwide Underground would've been amazing but I don't think the fans would've been ready for him either and I'm doubtful he would've stayed w/AAA even if he got a LU belt on his first match. So, that just leaves Sexy Star. but of course they maybe had decided by the time they booked those seven people in that match. So maybe Son of Havoc was another possibility? Fits the guy who can get beat, stay over, and make the fans angry at Johnny for him losing. He didn't have a lot going on, just got thrown into the ultimate opportunity tournament. (Sexy Star in that tournament would've been worse, but the idea of a Sexy Star/Mascarita Sagrada vs Famous B/Dr. Wagner feud would've been hilarious.) The Mack was in that too and he could've worked, but the fans were not yet backing the Mack as much. Cage as in that but Cage already did his Mundo feud. Maybe Texano? Roach was a lot on what Texano could've turned into that I would've guessed from watching the show, and he and Daga had a really great match not long before the no mas match. The possibilities are wider open than I had thought when I started writing this. the other thing about that story was a bit of a "well, what would you do with Pentagon as a rudo, have him beat lesser rudos?" and I was like both "yes, like what you did with Matanza hopefully" and also "I hope you get to figure that out next season"
  10. dang it Casey, you needed to throw a link to your podcast in there. I haven't finished listened to it yet because I have to take notes during it because there was too much interesting stuff.
  11. Marco got his hands up on the belt shot, but I think the belt still wrapped around the arm got him around the eye. It looks puffy around there, not like a self inflected wound, near the end of the match.
  12. I think they're doing well on Tijuana shows. Attendance has been all over the place on the other shows. I think they must be doing ok, but these November shows seem overly ambitious. They must've assumed they'd have a TV deal by now when they scheduled all of these shows, because it seems incredibly daunting to sell a dozen shows mostly on local promotion and social media mentions. I think they're helped out because they have some local groups doing the promoting (and maybe shouldering some of the risk), but this doesn't seem like the greatest business idea. Hope it works out.
  13. Rush appears to have the ability to get away with anything, and it happening in Puebla and not Mexixo means the people in charge are probably aren't aware of it if unless someone tells them (and even then, they can claim it was hardway and safely assume no one will check.)
  14. In theory, we're only going to see the limo guy if Cage wins. If Mil wins, that's gauntlet is going to the police station and Crane might give it to Catrina too. Agent Winter and the limo guy think they're getting winner whoever it is, but they don't seem aware of the Catrina/Vazquez connection. (This is different from the Daga/Sword thing, which I'm joking about now but will be seriously annoyed if it doesn't happen this week. If you only watch versions of the shows with no commercials, this is not something that was just shown in the S3 trailer and never mentioned again. They ran a commercial that aired for some 20 episodes straight promoting their Creator Spotlight which included a bit of Marty laughing from early in the season, and a shot of Daga swinging around the sword. They really should NOT have done that, it would've been better if we never knew Daga was on this season at all, but the way they wanted people to experience the show promoted that scene so they better deliver it.) I have a lot of thoughts about Pentagon and this show that I'm saving for after the finale, but I have to acknowledge that the people who booked Pentagon in Season 2 and Season 3 were the same people who booked him to destroy (non-Sexy Star) people for the last 25 or so episodes of season 1. Pentagon was awesome before he set foot in LU, but the arm breaking squashes were a career turning point for him. He executed them perfectly, but only because they gave him a great opening to work with. Saying someone is all bad or all good at what they did overlooks some nuances.
  15. I remember. There's a reason. There's a clue in the photo they used. Live, the Killshot/Fox match felt so long that I was sure it was a full episode match, but I couldn't figure how they'd make into 5 TV segments without violating their "no commercial breaks during action" rule. Adding another match is how. segment 1: Texano vs Famous B. segment 2: Killshot vs Dante intros and vignettes to set up other things segment 2: Killshot vs Dante fall 1 segment 3: Killshot vs Dante fall 2 segment 4: Killshot vs Dante fall 3 OR maybe it was straight falls and something else surprising happens here
  16. That was trial run to set up TripleMania, but nothing long term was announced. I figure it'll be back at some time, but probably not any time soon.
  17. guessing the next couple nights will have Wednesday: TripleMania 2014 - Faby/Taya (broken nose match), Psycho/Texano, Perro/Myzteziz/Cibernetico/Wagner Thursday: TripleMania 2015 - Demon/Parka vs Electro, Patron/Cage, Mysterio/Myzteziz Friday: TripleMania 2016 - Texano/Wagner/Cage + Psycho/Pagano Sunday: ladder match + Wagner/Psycho
  18. That section mentions that payoff is (doing math quickly in my head) nearly 4x Wagner wanted for the Park mask match and 8x times offered for an Atlantis match a decade ago. Wagner waited and waited and waited and it totally paid off. OTOH, Psycho main eventing the biggest show of the year in AAA and getting not even $5000 kind of tells you where lucha libre is at in the bigger scale.
  19. I'm not sure why Dr. Lucha thinks they'd bring Season 4 back while announcing it was the final season. There's no narrative reason to do it and there's no money reason to do it that way. If it's back for a Season 4, we probably go thru this same stretch of uncertainty again. If it's not, it's not.
  20. Cueto Cup is next week, but it's not the actual finale (though they've done a good job of building it up like one.) 32: Cueto Cup final + Mundo/Rey 33-36: build for Ultima Lucha 3 (and blowoff for stuff that doesn't make the UL cut) 37-40: Ultima Lucha 3 (September 27 to a two hour finale on October 18) October 25: a great void in my life
  21. It's 90% about Dante Fox being great (in front of an audience who might have not all known what to expect from him), and about 10% that Dante not really doing all much heelish. I think it's probably intentionally vague about who we're supposed to cheer here - the fans wouldn't have seen the vignettes, but those aren't painting Fox as a bad guy either.
  22. Dante Fox is just nuts. Just generally nuts at all times in a wrestlinyng match. And only getting more so.
  23. I know that was a problem the first week for some systems, but not Xfinity. I've noticed other people mention the new episodes haven't been added to Xfintiy's Ondemand . I don't know if it got fixed - I hope so, because they're in HD there and the show looks so much better. (You can buy the episodes individually on Amazon, but not thru video service.) LU seems to have discontinued posting matches on YouTube too.
  24. On the odd chance you only follow this show thru this thread, here's that bracket It looks like the next four weeks are alphabetical (Group A 1st round, Group B, etc) so everyone's going to be back on the show eventually.
