Samoa Joe from when he came in until his first loss about 18 months later was on the whole well booked. And then after he lost to Angle he slowly dissolved into just another TNA guy, which was a hell of a choice.

That's the first example that comes to mind

This combined with the fact (?) that the first loss match was cut short by a good bit due to an injury to Angle during the match. An epic match, followed by a very tough loss would possibly slowed the dissolution down a little bit.

I was 19 in 2003 when I first got into Ring of Honour.

Yeah, so basically everyone more than a couple of years younger than you would most likely not be of age to find ROH at the time.

I don't know how well this describes the current AEW fan base, but I'd figure at least to some extent, right?

This is probably my #1 moment in wrestling this year at AEW Revolution and how it happened on my Birthday, 6th of March.

It's just that some fans were too young to remember Punk using Miseria Cantare as a theme, so the place didn't erupt as it should have. I only read about Punk using it early on, but at least I have the AFI album (CD) in question.

That is May of 2012, not May 12th of this year. Sorry if there was any confusion.

    Also Thank you.

Nevertheless, that's still great, and also a lot more sustainable time frame for such a weight loss.

Also, I read that as December 5th (and assuming of 2021), obviously I would not think someone could or should halve their weight in a couple of months, because that would probably be fatal or at least very dangerous. Dropping 10-15% in that time is rough enough business.

  5. Belgium has done a number on my diet, but that was the plan. There has been plenty of walking as well as push-ups and resistance band work in the hotel room and even one workout at the hotel's Spa fitness room. They are no match for the waffle, ice cream, melted chocolate and whipped cream combo, though!

I had one large portion of Flemish Fries and there has been small portions as side dishes on meals, but I haven't exactly gone nuts with those.

I had trouble with muscle stiffness all over my body for a day or two, but I was able to massage them away by myself. Traps and glutes seemed to be the source of the problem, once again.

Had a Dr. appt. on Tues for my sus left shoulder. Shoulder doesn't hurt anymore and I weighed in at 178 lbs(in 5/12 I weighed in at 364 lbs) so the visit went pretty well.

You just about halved your weight in that time? That's an amazing feat. Hope the shoulder will be OK, too! Great job!

I confused Norvell Austin and Steve Austin one time.

(not wrestling related but...) That's  nothing! I don't confuse the two per se, but I'm still astounded that Rosario Dawson and James Van Derbeek (sp?) look nothing alike, even though they are both Dawsons!

Where are you going in Belgium?

The frites are of course the real danger. I remember buying the family portion at a place in Mechelen. He asked me if they were all for me. I lied.

I tried a Bicky Burger too. Never again.

Antwerp and Bruges, or the other way around. Landing in Brussels, obviously. Haven't visited the country before, so it should be interesting.

  9. Well, I've kept the running and home workout routine going through the weekend and the first couple of the actual days off. Some 45-60 minutes of running/jogging including the stairs each time for three days straight. My legs are definitely feeling this. The workouts have been OK, but I just can't seem to get a fierce pump with this little weights, no matter how hard I try. Did get some good pics nevertheless and the photo editor works its magic every time.

Early tomorrow morning we'll be off to Belgium for a week or so. There will be plenty of walking, I'm sure, and I'm taking the resistance band with me. All of this will absolutely be off-set by  Belgian chocolate and waffles (no beer, though) many times over.

I consider myself lucky to have gotten this far without totally blowing up. In the next couple of weeks, that's where I'm probably headed, but I don't mind.

    Bork returns tonight.

But for those who missed it:

This was lovely. It shows that it is totally fine and acceptable to mark out over wrestlers half your age, so the world needs more of this.

I'm amazed at this WrestleMania 5 naysaying. I think that was one of my favourites of the earlier Manias all told (partly because I think most of the early Manias are dross) but also because I think Savage/Hogan is largely excellent, Rude/Warrior and Rockers/Twin Towers are very good, and yes, Haku/Herc is a good match.

If I had to rank the first 10 Manias, just off the top of my head, I think I'd go-

    1. 10
    2. 7
    3. 3
    4. 8
    5. 5
    6. 6
    7. 2
    8. 9
    9. 1
    10. 4

5, 6 and 8 I think are of roughly the same quality.

Not really dissing WMV per se, even the clipped version off TV was watched SO many times over the years! I remember how elated I was when the show started, as the tv-guide didn't specify WrestleMania V, just Wrestling Main Event for 3 hours! That was a good Saturday!

Speaking of builds, I happen to watch some Prime Time Wrestling in the leadup to Mania V months back in preparation for watching that show. The segment where Steve Lombardi debuts as Heenan's heavy is an all-timer (in a good way). If Lombardi could actually work beyond being a mid level enhancement talent who sometimes gets to beat S.D. Jones in matches that go 5 minutes too long and Terry Taylor wasn't the Red Rooster, that could have been something much more.

It's crazy they wasted something so great on **let me check again**...Brooklyn Brawler vs. The Red Rooster.

I saw a recap of that on an episode of Superstars, I believe. Heenan apologizes to Rooster, then proceeds to slap him and berate him more and Brawler attacks with a wooden chair, knocking out Gorilla Monsoon in the process. Pretty intense stuff!

Oops, I guess it was five matches. From Page 29:

"Now, let’s cut down some of these matches to make WrestleMania V a better show. These five matches are out:

    • Hercules vs. King Haku
    • Bushwhackers vs. Rougeau Brothers
    • Ronnie Garvin vs. Dino Bravo
    • Hart Foundation vs. (Future) Rhythm & Blues
    • Hacksaw Jim Duggan vs. Bad News Brown"

Right, so not that far off!  But for the sake of how future turned out, I wouldn't cut out a match with Bret Hart. Rougeaus rule so much that they almost made Bushwhackers bearable (and they weren't at their most unbearable yet, at that point). Hercules vs King Haku was a good match that should not be cut in order to improve the overall quality, but OK.
