AEW has just dropped this. Can't wait!

That's very cool, but what is Gorilla Monsoon doing there between Al Snow and Hangman Page? Not that adding a random pic of Monsoon would make anything LESS cool, but still...

When Vince finds out Neville left years ago, having sat out a whole year to get out of his contract, he'll be so mad. He'll probably re-hire Canyon Cemen just so he can fire him again.

I'm still mad at that and would like to fire Canyon Cemen again over it!

To be honest, he also parties way to much, but I think that one was still reserved for the drunk cowboy.

  4. On the topic of themes, today I added the new FTR theme, as well as Christian Cage's one to my Spotify Gym playlists (different playlists, however). Neither one played during the workout yet, but they are there, waiting.

  5. Yeah, guys. I'm just going to give you a heads up, that I am about to get REALLY annoying talking about Ivy Nile and Zoe Stark facing each other, every F'n week, until I get to actually see it! Every week! You have been warned.

  6. Not quite sure if I go tomorrow, but I'm 3 workouts in this week and they have all been good.

Monday started with total of 8 rounds of pull-up, dip, reverse shrug combo. Starting with 77 lbs on all. 3 rounds of that, then 55, 44 etc, until 11 lbs remained.

After that, chest flies, 3 different grip lat pull downs and pushdowns with the resistance band 3 drop sets of each. Abs, and that's it.

We finally got 2 more 55 lb (25kg) plates, so on Tuesday I could finally go heavier than 451 on trapbar. First time since late 2018, I think? So, it went 10×140, 10x242, 8x286, 6×352, 2x396 (without Versas, went for a third, but it would have slipped, so I didn't complete), then 5x451 and 3x5x473. Then a bunch of shrugs, abs and done.

Yesterday was off, due to life. Today was bench. We took turns with a co-worker, so we had a spotter. I did a few sets of lat pulldowns to the front with 88, 132, 176, 132, 154, 132 before the bench and some between the sets. My bench was as follows: 3x154, 5x198, 5x220, 5x242, 3x264, 1x297 (and two ugly-ass partials, too) 10x253, 16x220 (went for 17, but needed a spotter to complete) and 21x154. Some curls with a pair 55 lb plates (w/ grip handles) and some more with a pair of 22's. Abs and I'm done.

So yeah, good week. A new bench record, a clean rep with 297, and the sets with 253 and 220 also had more reps than (or as many as) I've ever done. Also, the trapbar went wonderfully, as I need to start going up to 473 each time out from now on.

Even if I skip tomorrow, this still rocked!

...didn't skip today, but did just light squats on the machine as well as calves and a bunch of preacher curls with the EZ bar doing 12 reps per set with 40, 62, 3 sets with 84, then back down to 62 and 40. Then some side delts and abs to finish off the week.

That sounds like the nickname I had for that Latino Paranormal Activity movie, "The Mexorcist."

And calling Roman "The Suplexorcist" is bullshit.  That name needs to go with a gimmick of a wrestling priest who throws heels until the evil leaves them and they become babyfaces.

And Roman doesn't even throw suplexes. Or is he just exorcising Brock's suplexes? What does he chant during it? "The power of the punch compells you?"

Just how long did Sullivan book WCW? I thought Bischoff was in control after the NWO started, up until they got Russo.

This was after Russo was put aside the first time and before he returned with Bischoff. And then later, after Russo was gone and before Bischoff came back (sort of), just prior to Vince buying it.

I was informed this morning by my son that I am not as strong as He Man.

Why the hell have I wasted all these years lifting weights?  It was all for nothing.

Hey, NOBODY's that strong, so don't worry about it! Nothing to do with strength, but when my friend's youngest son saw the photo I use as my profile pic, he apparently told his dad "that's a Masters of the Universe character!" Most likely referring to Skeletor, so I wasn't confused with He-Man, either!

That was me, it was the Dynamite Grand Slam. She said twice she was completely by herself, and one other time there were three other women. I don't think I mentioned this in my post because it didn't come up until later, but of that group, she said two women were talking about Roman Reigns, and one of them was a non-fan/new to wrestling and came with their boyfriend.

The conversation about Roman Reigns is understandable, since obviously, even though he's not there, they were going to have to acknowledge him.

So i played through all of the Bond movie songs a couple times at work today, and i gotta say: Madonna's "Die Another Day" is so, so bad. there's a bunch of classic songs, some less memorable ones, and then this abomination. No matter how you look at it, it doesn't fit. Theme? Genre? Sound? just an absolutely terrible Bond song. It stuck WAY out both times through the playlist.  Seriously, what is the argument for this working?

P.S. i thought we had a thread dedicated more to Bond songs, but i couldn't find it.

Aargh, Bond themes! Look, aside from the fact that A View to a Kill and Living Daylights are the only two themes ever to matter to me whatsoever, this was probably closest to there being a third one. On top of that, this was the first (and last) Madonna track I actually gave half a shit about since a couple of tracks off of A Ray of Light in 1997. I have heard people shit on this one ever since it came out and never understood what the big problem was? Yeah, I get that I'm alone on this one.

AEW's audience is extremely male heavy. It's pretty much why they are well behind WWE in total viewership. Like 70+% male versus WWE being more like ~60% male.

We've even had confirmation that there is NO line to the ladies' bathroom during events (was this at the most recent PPV even?), from a board member's significant other, so there is definitely something to it.

Belated Birthday returns, @Shartnado. Hope you had a good un! I'll remember that date as it's my best friend who is like a brother to me.

Thanks. It fell on a Wednesday and I was working the evening shift, so the actual day was not much fun, but we did have a very nice lunch with the family on Saturday! It was a buffet, so I ended up very stuffed. It was beautiful!

That friend of yours, it's not Scott Steiner, by any chance? We share the same birthday as well!

  14. Two workouts so far again this week. Expecting to do bench tonight. Tuesday was the usual upperbody blast with 4 rounds of pull ups , dips and reverse shrugs with 66 lbs, then one round with 44, 22 and bodyweight. The usual chest flies, lat pull down combos and pushdowns with the new resistance bands followed. Then abs to finish.

Wednesday was trapbar. 10x140, 10x184, 10x297, 6x385 without Versas, then 4x5x451. Bunch of shrugs and then abs at the end. It wasn't too bad, but my neck did cramp on the second to the last heavy trapbar set. It's fine now, though. I put special effort in stretching my legs the past few days and it has made the bike rides home a fair bit easier. I really need to keep that up.

I'll edit the bench in later!

Ok, so last week I didn't make any bench records, but this week I actually did. After warm up with resistance bands and gymstick, the workout went as follows: 5×198, 5x242, 3x259, 1x275, 3×292 (2 of which were clean, one was still good enough and one more partial that doesn't count), 2x280, 3x275, 4x264, 7x253, 6x242, 11x220, 8x198 and 20x132 (plus two sets of 5 with a 10 second rest pause straight after).

I did mostly pull ups and curls between sets, some side delts, too. Abs for the finish, as usual.

So, having a spotter helped me to get the courage to actually do the two clean reps with 292, which is my personal record. It's cool to be able to say that I bench more than ever before in my mid 40's. The 300 lbs shall be reached later this year, so as long as I stay healthy.

  15. Congrats, Gordi! As far your hiatus, no, things were very mundane and everyday in AEW. As in, it was almost every day that something that shook the pro wrestling world (big signings, amazing matches, Cody) happened. It was so frequent that the stuff that was awesome before (when you left), became almost mundane in comparison.

Ethan Page wasn't there because his wife was in the hospital.

One Page went on Paternity Leave the same day as the other returned from it.

That makes a lot of sense. Excellent timing. As an added bonus, the fanbase is slightly less confused by all the Pages. And they can keep saying Page is currently on paternity leave and it will still be accurate.

  17. Speaking of Mandy Rose as the possible next NXT women's champion, she has a built in feud with Sarray lined up on the basis of "your dropkick somehow made me even more gorgeous, you heartless MONSTER!!!"

On a different note, Eddie Dennis must be glad he's only on NXT UK, because Andre Chase would have been his future.

Also, eventually, in the future Ivy Nile and Zoe Starks are going to have a match. As I realize that, I'm looking forward to that match about as much as the ever-elusive PAC vs Buddy Matthews or PAC vs Pete Dunne!

Now, I know I'm not THAT damn old. Early 2000s.

Yeah, if Vince has seen some Avril Lavigne videos from the early 90's, those are probably some home videos shot by Avril's parents of her singing into a hairbrush. I don't think a toddler is what Jade is going for, but what do I know?

Absolutely loved the match. I was always a big fan of Tatanka as a face. Turning him heel was dumb and he fizzled due to the turn..

Kwang was awesome too. Wasn't a bad gimmick but Razor Ramon needed Mr. Boombastic Shaggy (Savio) and WWE needed someone to fill in for every mystery partner match ever (Savio)  so I get it.

Lots of fun hidden gem matches on Superstars and on the Colliseum Home Video shows.  Always love going back and watching random matches.  Makes me wish for them to upload more MSG/Boston Garden House shows.

Other than Mr Boombastic being the only super Shaggy track in history, you are spot on in everything! Colliseum Videos ruled!
