  1. Dude, Coenen said she had a ton of trouble making weight at 135. I mean if we're playing armchair nutritionist, she could have dropped to 135 in Invicta. Keep in the mind, the plan was for Coker to sign Carano AND Cyborg. Coenen was just happenstance. Then, he failed to sign either one. Now, he is stuck with Marloes Coenen and a bunch of nursing assistants. Also, do you really think a depleted Charmaine Tweet is going to be the same fighter? Also, you think the woman who is 6 feet tall and already looks bone dry isn't going to fuck herself up trying to cut another 10 pounds?
  2. He didn't direct the original The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. He co-wrote the screenplay. He directed A Royal Affair, which got great reviews.
  3. I think the majority of her success has come from her being much larger than her opponents. This is AFTER you were proven wrong. Dude, she is fighting girls who are basically the same size as her. What do you think the girls who fight at 147 and around the same weight in boxing and muay thai look like? They ain't the size of small forwards. Coenen moved back to 145 because she was dying making 135. You've already shown you have not been watching her fights clearly. Plus, you're showing you're not watching the current UFC product. Cara de Sapato (Antonio Carlos Jr.) fought Eddie Gordon weighing somewhere between 212-220 to Eddie Gordon's 188 (or 187) on fight night. This happens all time now in UFC. Gordon got absolutely smashed by someone who is a much better fighter than him (Gordon is still green as shit) who happened to be way bigger than him.
  4. Nope, he's right. On UFC.com, they switched out Camozzi/Watson with McMann/Nunes. They probably announced it last night when they were going over the card on UFC Tonight. I just hadn't changed it yet.
  5. I don't care about the sanctity of competition, I just think if one of them has to move it should be Cyborg. Ronda is the draw, she's the star, she's never been caught using steroids, etc. Cyborg in virtually every fight of her career has had the advantage of being significantly bigger than her opponent by the way she trains and having to cut a significant amount of weight to make 145 while at the same time fighting opponents who could be fighting at a lower weight. She of course wants to continue to do that with Ronda. She's not holding all the cards though. Faith Van Duin, Marloes Coenen, and Charmaine Tweet ain't exactly small women. All three of those women are above 5'9" with Tweet being 6' feet even The thing about combat sports is you signed up to compete in the weight class you've competing in. If you don't make that weight, then it's on you. So the fact that someone can actually be bigger and not be half dead in a sport where you can get absolutely hammered if you are is good on that person. When it starts working not in your favor (ala what has happened with Renan Barao), then you deal with the consequences. She ain't exactly Arturo Gatti facing Joey Gamache. All the women she has fought recently have fought regularly at featherweight. Now skills? That's a whole another discussion. To summarize that, she is much more skilled than all those ladies just because she has worked on her game a ton. The perfect fighter? Now by any stretch of the imagination. Good enough to pulverize those girls and any other girls who decide to fight her not named Ronda Rousey? That's for damn sure. Because she can be 145 on weigh-in day, weigh 146 the next day, and still have skill enough to throw to an absolutely brutal right hand. Another thing about fighting is if you let someone who knows what they're doing go through with their gameplan, you're going to lose. Shit, that's with any sport. Marloe Coenen can fight Cyborg twenty minutes after they weigh-in and get thumped for 15+ minutes AGAIN because weight had absolutely nothing to do with it. Marloes is gonna to lose to her 10 out of 10 times. Also, my other point is not who should move up or down. Personally, I don't give a shit what either side says as long as the fight happens. I'm saying that no matter, what the ball is in Zuffa's court. People keep talking what this contract says and what this says like it's fifteen different parties involved. The point being is it's not like Zuffa is going to get into a legit argument with THEMSELVES. There will be management squabbles, but Tito Ortiz is out of the picture. So good on that. If it happens at 135, then it happens at 135. If Zuffa and Ronda's camp come up with an offer or both sides (Ronda and Cyborg) met in Vegas to discuss it though, then I don't think there is anything wrong with moving forward. What are you going do if that happens? Protest the fight? You're going do nothing because (rationally) it shouldn't change your view on anything. I think people going are bit too hard with this #TeamRousey and #TeamCyborg shit. Just be happy you have a super relevant female fight that POSSIBLY (knock on wood) could happen.
  6. Martin Kampmann is stepping down as head coach at Team Alpha Male due to personal reasons.
  7. Hendricks vs. Woodley has been announced for UFC 192.
  8. Because it's Sportscenter and there is less relevant stuff on there everyday.
  9. What if she doesn't and decides to fight above 135? She makes a ton of money either way. If this was about the sanctity of competition, she wouldn't be fighting Miesha Tate for the belt again.
  10. Sub-Zero MMA ‏@SubZeroMMA 10m UFC Fight Night in Sao Paulo on November 7 adds Gilbert Burns vs. Rashid Magomedov
  11. Yeah, I don't think his stock is gonna plummet. You can look back at my response a few pages back. You should not waste time doing some shit that's already been done. Fedor was never a mega draw or anything, but if he signs with the UFC, he is easily someone who draws casual fans and people who just watch every big show. He will be 39 in a month. You don't need to fucking baby the guy. Throw him against anyone who the fans want to see him fight. If it's Werdum or Cain or Overeem or any other big name fighter available, let it be them. That's one or two big fights that you can count on and not just some main card fodder.
  12. Also, this: http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2015/8/5/9100329/fedor-reveals-ufc-nregotiations-in-process-fabricio-werdum-mma-news?utm_campaign=zidansports&utm_content=chorus&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter
  13. Diego Sanchez is dropping to featherweight to fight Ricardo Lamas on the Monterrey card. http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2015/8/5/9100329/fedor-reveals-ufc-nregotiations-in-process-fabricio-werdum-mma-news?utm_campaign=zidansports&utm_content=chorus&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter
  14. The thing is....apparently Toquinho is not a Jake Shields fan either. BTW, both of them have been temporarily suspended by Nevada for unsportsmanlike conduct.
  15. MetLife is in New Jersey so it wouldn't be a problem. The UFC brass isn't a big fan of outdoor stadiums. AT&T Stadium has a retractable roof and that's a big selling point. Another thing is that for the most part, in combat sports, the gate you could get at the basketball/hockey arena would be about the same as the football stadium. Hell, the Cotto-Foreman attendance at Yankee Stadium would barely be a sellout at MSG. Plus, they probably would gotten the same gate and spent less money. Unless, you have a few blockbuster fights with the right type of momentum, you're better off just running the arena. Boxing and MMA are so entrenched in the casino business that it's hard to get out of that mode. UFC 194 could quite possibly be one of those rare win-win situations where even if one fight falls out weeks before the card, you can just move it back to MGM Grand if you get cold feet and still have a gate equal to or greater than $5 million.
  16. If I had to pay to see that, yeah I wouldn't be seeing it. The person I went with wanted to see Pixels, and I wanted to see Rogue Nation. So I decided to take the bullet on this one as long as they paid for it.
  17. Jeremy Botter ‏@jeremybotter 4m BREAKING: Sergio Pettis vs. Chris Cariaso and Alan Jouban vs. Albert Tumenov added to UFC 192 Jouban vs. Tumenov is going to be tremendous.
  18. Either way, WWE is just gonna make up a bigger number anyway. The UFC gate will be much bigger though because of the ticket prices. Meltzer's theory is that Aldo vs. McGregor has to be in Vegas because (1) tourists will be willing to travel to LV and (2) fans will be accustomed to paying those ticket prices. He keeps bringing up the two Pacquiao fights bombing at AT&T Stadium. I get what he means, but he has to look at the context of those two bouts. First off, the Clottey fight was booked AS SOON as the Mayweather talks were ended. People were very unhappy about Mayweather vs. Pacquiao not happening at that time and being left with JOSHUA CLOTTEY as the consolation prize out of all the other available options. Second, much of the shine was off of Margarito after the cheating scandal and the fact Shane Mosley completely destroyed him. In addition, the luster of having a boxing fight in AT&T Stadium had wore off because of how bad Pacquiao-Clottey was. In pro wrestling terms, Top Rank killed the town. The reputation of Manny Pacquiao was carrying the hype of those bouts because God knows nothing exciting or intriguing happened in the buildup of either fight except Brandon Rios making fun of Freddie Roach being crippled by Parkinson's. I guarantee you that the UFC won't have any trouble trying to promote Aldo-McGregor OR Rousey-Tate III. You can't use Bob Arum and Bruce Trampler's failures and place them on something completely different.
  19. Yair Rodriguez vs. Daniel Hooker and Jessica Eye vs. Julianna Pena have been added to UFC 192.
  20. With Badou Jack-George Groves, Salido vs. Martinez II, and a fight to be named later on the undercard.
  21. Maybe they just all love lifting weights! Power MMA has that in spades. Either that or they want to hang out with Mike Miller. Seriously, it may just be differences with the coaching staff. Then, one guy persuaded his friends to make the move with him. Groupthink has destroyed the harmony of many MMA gyms before. I find it funny that Melanson and Chandler left XC only to leave Alliance MMA though.
  22. Saw this yesterday. It's up there for one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Whoever wrote the script should die in a house fire.
  23. Anyone who doesn't like that fight should really evaluate what sport they're watching. In other news, a Xtreme Couture-like exodus has begun at Alliance MMA. First, Neil Melanson leaves to go instruct for the Blackzilians. Now, Myles Jury, Michael Chandler, UFC prospect Johnny Case, and Justin Lawrence are all going to Power MMA. http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2015/8/4/9097311/myles-jury-drops-to-featherweight-among-four-fighters-to-leave
  24. The UFC 193 main event, according to Jeremy Botter, is Lawler vs. Condit. So 12/5 is still open.
  25. Well, she DID catch up to Conor. Bethe Correia...our generation's Peter McNeeley.
