NOTICIAS

Chilanga Mask announced yesterday that they have booked Atlantis vs. Octagon in the battle of former tag partners from the early 90's for the first time ever on 6/21.

The Japanese promotions announced their teams for the Lucha Libre World Cup this morning as NOAH is sending along Taiji Ishimori, Atsushi Kotoge, & Yoshihiro Takayama meanwhile All-Japan is sending along MASAMUNE/Tiger Mask III (Koji Kanemoto)/Kenzo Suzuki. NOAH is also sending along referee Shuichi Nishinaga to be one of the officials.

Francisco Javier Ortiz Villanueva also known as Verdugo passed away yesterday after a long illness at the age of 57 years old. Verdugo along with his brothers Hombre Bala & Pirata Morgan formed a great trio team in the late 80's called Los Bucaneros and they feuded with all of the top trios teams of the era. Their matches with Los Brazos in 1989 were amazing whether it was hair matches, title matches, you name it. Verdugo would later take on such gimmicks as Troglodita, El Fenomeno, & Black Bull before becoming basically retired over the last few years.

QEPD El Verdugo.

I wasn't aware of Kanemoto having much history in Mexico, but I guess he really did work under the hood for AAA in 1994 for a bit. I thought he hated that thing.
