  1. Ivelisse re-injured her ankle at LU last weekend and is out of all weekend activities.
  2. Today I was on a TTC bus with an ad for Lucha Underground plastered outside the bus. Pretty surreal. I don't know how many people reading this thread will even understand how cool that is.
  3. From a live perspective - there was so much happening by the middle of the match when like 12-13 guys were all out there. Drago/Jack brawling in the crowd before Darewolf came out went much longer than was shown on TV. They came to our section for a good 30-40 seconds which wasn't shown. Then Jack got hiptossed over the balcony which was shown and they brawled up the bleaches which only a bit was shown. Drago ended up throwing Jack from near the top of the stairs all the way down. Another spot I seem to recall not seeing on TV was Famous B handing Puma a card and while Puma was reading it someone superkicked him. LOL Later on someone knocked all the cards out of Famous B's hand into the air. I'm happy they didn't edit out the part where Famous B ran up to the handcuffed Joey and handed him a card.
  4. Life sucks, then you die. Or you go on a weekend trip to your first Lucha Underground tapings, finally meet some dude you think is cool & then have a front row seat to watching him cheer a monster beat up your hero.
  5. Casey had the story right until he blew the finish! Because things got too crazy at the appearance security had to rush Rey out and Fenix never met Rey so he broke down in tears.
  6. First - you have to give Lucha Underground credit for booking the match the way they did. That could easily have gotten a terrible reaction with so many favorites getting pinned by the unknown monster. They went for it and offered no middle ground. He destroyed them. End of story. And the crowd was PISSED which was the point! Second - That is exactly how you build a monster no matter the size. His offense was incredible and totally believable. The loudest pops live were for Rey appearing at #2 & Dario returning. The editing of the show is amazing. They weren't a ton of blown spots but both Mascarita/Aero Star had some issues but you would never notice it on TV. Seamless editing without feeling like they jumped forward 2 minutes. Even Chavo fucked up a bit in his stretch with Matanza but they got rid of it. Thought the match was booked incredibly start-to-finish. Everyone except Argenis got a chance to shine or set something up for the future and in Argenis' case he was just there to get Rey his first big pinfall. The opening skit worked great explaining why Pentagon wasn't in the match instead of just leaving it hanging as to why he never comes out and only attacks Muertes from behind. The total opposite of WWE style not sending Daniel Bryan out and offering zero explanation as to why to piss off the live crowd. Home run episode. Liked it more than last year which is incredible. Will never forget being there live as Rey walked out at #2!
  7. CMLL Puebla was excellent tonight, capped off by a very good Caristico/Ultimo Guerrero main event in front of a jam packed crowd. I thought it was the best the Japanese kids have looked so far & they even built up a Mascara Dorada/Cavernario match for next Monday or 4/3.
  8. He's been standing behind Prince Puma all season.
  9. Taz over as a killer in front of the most smarky & judgemental crowd in the world back from 1995-1999. It's all about how he's booked & what his offense looks like. If he starts mauling fuckers and throwing them around like trash bags I doubt many people will care if he isn't tall.
  10. I had a blast watching tonight. You can count on CMLL for good wrestling most of the time but when they combine good wrestling with stuff actually happening it makes for a much better overall product. Even the crappiest match tonight had something happen at the end which sets up next week and is a fresh match-up with lots of possible outcomes (UG vs Ciber). My favorite match was Volador/Negro. Negro is an absolute legend. What 56 year old tries a super frankensteiner and takes a sunset flip bomb to the floor? THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU OLD MAN? Loved the shots of both Casas' daughter & Volador's son. Mexico vs Japan was a good match & Rush/Maximo told a great story. They really put Rush over huge not even giving Maximo a win (Rush got DQ'ed in first fall). That's rare for CMLL as even in matches like Casas/Parka or Maximo/Kamaitachi where the outcome is never in doubt they tend to do the generic 50/50 match going 3 falls. The only disapointment I'd say was the opener where they really worked an awful match considering what their goal was & then Soberano came out of the match injured. I wouldn't say the work was bad, although it wasn't close to great. It was just the total package came off bad as they went too long which annoyed the crowd & were doing nearfalls/big drama selling in a match that just needed to be in and out with lots of exciting spots. Things are happening in Mexico. If you follow the news in addition to just the results you better strap yourselves in for an exciting upcoming week or two.
  11. 3 way for me. Then Fenix/Muertes from last night, followed in 3rd by the season opener of Fenix/Cuerno. All just placeholders until next Wednesday of course. My favorite MOMENT from this season is Rey's first appearence on screen.
  12. What do you have against the Putty Patrol? Or Goombas if you don't get the Power Rangers reference.
  13. I'm assuming people who said the season started off slow and are now very happy because the show has clearly moved into high gear the past couple of weeks. What a string of main events and next week is AZTEC WARFARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just an amazing hour of TV. I'm glad they gave away the Matanza deal tonight b/c I figured his look will be polarizing and better people get it out of their system this week rather than if he shows up next week and overshadows Aztec Warfare. If I hadn't have actually been at the tapings for Aztec Warfare and just found out tonight that Rey is going to be in it I would still be peeing my pants. C'MON NEXT WEDNESDAY~!
  14. He's the one who speaks great English, right? Yep.
  15. Most definitely Cuerno/Fantasma. He hasn't been shy on twitter lately.
  16. That main event was ridiculous. Everything that makes everyone love LU right there. You couldn't even blink it was just non-stop action and a decisive clean finish putting the champ over. By miles the best match this season and in the high end stuff from last year too. FENIX VS MIL MUERTES NEXT WEEK! And Angelico's awesome hair! The rest, aside from our hero Aero Star returning, was a mixed bag depending on your tastes. I loved Fenix's video package & him doing a bilingual promo. It wasn't perfect but it's the effort that counts. That's something WWE would never do without turning it into a comedy "hahaha this guy can't talk normal" deal.
  17. I agree with what most said... the big spots in the ladder match were great but there wasn't much to the actual match. Like when both of them just climbed up to the top to hang onto the swinging title belt holding thing and then just fell. No build, no reason, they just did it to do it. I heard Fenix got injured during the match which might have effected the way it came off. The spot where he fell from the balcony onto the ladder ("broke his ass") might have been where it occured. I think he was supposed to take a flat back bump on the ladder but backed out in mid-air and landed awkwardly. I give them full credit for their efforts (Fenix's dive early on was the DOTY so far) but I think if you asked both they'd honestly say they can do better. I preferred both their other singles matches this year. It does feel like this season is going slower than expected and the matches aren't as great as they were in season 1... YET. I wonder if this is part of the long term storytelling though for when Dario eventually returns. He can point out the Temple is better with him in charge and the idea for fans is to show you Catrina is less interested in giving you the violence/action Dario wanted, she's just purposely out there to fuck around. I was at 4 of the 5 shows starting with Azteca Warfare and without spoiling anything I will say the stuff I saw on those tapings was better than anything in-ring so far in the season except maybe that first Fenix/Fantasma match. The tide definitely turns with Aztec Warfare because of all the stories that come out of it and new faces that end up appearing.
  18. Well the last time CMLL randomly broke up a stable & had a guy expected to win a match end up losing it we all know what happened. So if Rush loses, I guess so. (I'm thinking no this time though for a couple reasons) Honestly it won't matter what they add to the card, I already love it just based on those 3 matches and knowing the inevitable Caristico match is getting on there. Volador Jr./Rush seems like a lock for the Anniversary Show, maybe Rush goes out the same way Sombra did. I'm not sure that singles hair match allows CMLL to charge the prices they want though so I wonder if Caristico/Atlantis somehow get mixed in. CMLL seems comfortable knowing they can name their price if Atlantis is on top and I don't think Caristico came back to not be involved in a major way at the Anniversary *. (* -> Unless ELITE ends up running their own major show but right now that doesn't look possible.)
  19. I'd be more worried about dying outside the ring than inside if I was part of Lucha Underground. Bael wouldn't be headless if he had just kept wrestling and never left that ring. Poor sweet innocent Bael......
  20. Dorada was incredible in front of a shit crowd who didn't deserve that performance but the Negro trios match was amazing. They started out 100mph, sped up, did everything... and kept going. My favorite match so far this year. This was that yearly CMLL show where everything happens to set up the rest of the year.
  21. That was the best take they had? Sexy Star must be as good of an actress as she is a wrestler.
  22. I always told you guys Aero Star was way ahead of his time with the spots he innovates. Now you know why! Great episode. The secret skits at the end just keep getting better and better. We could literally end up going another 3 episodes before we even see Dario again. Fenix/Fantasma was so great. Even the "they do too much" crowd could appreciate how they ended the match after the first big bump. So both Konnan & Big Ryck were found out to have been murdered this week. Rough times for Lucha Underground. PUMA VS PENTAGON JR. NEXT WEDNESDAY. OH MY.
  23. Wow he got one in size Wellness Violation.
