  1. I really need to arrange a sit down with you & Satanico. Satanico has proclaimed Volador Jr. is the best student he's ever trained many times in the past & I just want you to explain to him how wrong he is.
  2. Cavernario will be wrestling for another 20+ years. He'll be fine. The thing about most people, including Dave, who complain about the flying splash is they are only watching his big matches. They aren't sitting through Puebla tonight or a handheld from Tijuana where he gets by on his gimmick and stooging for the tecnicos. He's not dumb like Impulso, he's not doing the flying splash to the floor in front of 100 fans at Arena San Juan Pantitlan or on the dirt ground outside the ring in Coacalco. I could see him doing a year in Japan like Dorada. He's so young that he's still just finishing up school. I think once he's free and clear he'll go over to NJ for a year & who knows where after that. He's picking up English so that's a good thing if his goal is eventually to work in the States more.
  3. Another excellent ELITE show this week highlighted by Golden Magic, Bandido & Zumbi vs Karonte Jr., Hijo De Dos Caras (who is cosplaying Roman Reigns?) & Hijo De Dr. Wagner. Loved this match more than the carnage the previous week. The rudos were great bullies and the tecnicos looked super in their shine segments, Bandido in particular is such a fucking star. Having no Argos around this week was such an improvement. Zumbi's fucking flying legdrop into the crowd was ridiculous! That'll surely get him banned from the CWC 2017. Caristico is so broken down these days and carrying excess weight isn't helping but Escorpion dragged him to a decent enough match. The mid-match zombie effect was creepy as fuck. This show blew away the CMLL Friday show and actually that opening match was better than anything in CMLL since Volador/Cavernario.
  4. That's certainly a lot of words. Brings me back to the DVDVR days of the 2005-2008 Lucha Libre boom in Mexico led by Mistico where Phil & Tom would write weekly think pieces on how terrible he was & amuse themselves trying to get him ranked below some southern wrestler who has great punches on their yearly list. Everyone is entitled to their opinions. Matt clearly has his & made it known he wasn't a Volador Jr. fan before he started a blog specifically to tear down the guy. As I noted at the time, that's certainly one way to spend your free time. To provide the contrary view - Volador is one of the most popular wrestlers in Mexico & one of the most highly in demand guys today. So clearly he's doing something right but what would the paying customers and promoters know compared to Segunda Caida, right? Actually one of the more amazing things I've discovered is how Volador's popularity extends from older fans to young girls to hardcore "smart" fans who hate almost everyone from CMLL. Rare to find someone liked by all those groups. Atila, you make your own call on whether you enjoy Volador or not. All I'll say is beware the disconnect with folks who still don't want to understand how Lucha Libre has evolved & get excited when the latest Jerry Estrada match makes it to YouTube.
  5. That main event was awful. Mundo having to physically put Sexy Star into the position he wanted her multiple times was eye rolling. I noticed Sexy Star even tried her cheap heat scream "FUCK YOU" tactic and they didn't bring her audio up this time for the cheap pop. I find it humorous they've stopped allowing her to speak English. I wonder what "host body" means? Dario gonna get killed and take on a new form? Maybe that mystery super boss can take on any form? Looking forward to the Paul London led group & Sami vs Marty could be fun. Texano/Cage had their best match yet but still I'm annoyed we're getting another one or maybe even two more. I was amused when Striker said it was a battle of 300 pounders. Texano probably barely hits 210. Might as well start saying Matanza is a 7 foot monster if we're exaggerating that much.
  6. Don't have enough women yet? I feel like every week has a new woman. Don't scare me like that.
  7. I was hoping we were gonna string together some good shows leading into Aztec Warfare but tmrw's lineup has... Sexy Star vs Johnny Mundo Marty The Moth vs Ivelisse Cage vs Texano My stomach hurts. :/ Cage/Texano might be okay but the first two matches were very underwhelming. I don't see the need for two intergender matches on the same show at all. Baffling.
  8. Hijo de LA Park, Zumbi, Emperador Azteca vs Imposible, Diamante & Karonte Jr. from ELITE this past Friday was RI-GOD-DAMN-DICULOUS! Everything I want out of my undercard matches. Absolute carnage. A man's head was thrown through a wooden makeshift guardrail! Red hot crowd too who were into everything these guys were doing. I cannot reccomend this match enough if you want to see a total cluster of moves, death & underage girls losing their mind for Zumbi's dancing.
  9. Do you have any facts to back up your theory that if you screw AAA it'll effect your standing in LU? Let me present the other side... Sexy Star left AAA on very messy terms, AAA tried to get LU to stop booking her, Sexy Star is still employed by LU & in fact goes over AAA talent on future episodes. Jack Evans is currently not working any AAA shows & may or may not be on his way out, he is still employed by LU & working the upcoming house shows. Fenix quit AAA, is still employed by LU & has openly stated they said he could leave AAA with no LU ramifications. Pentagon Jr. has told AAA his US bookings take priority leading to him missing many AAA major shows including Heroes Inmortales, he's still one of LU's top stars with no plans of that changing. PJ Black asked LU if he could work ELITE (AAA's opposition in Mexico) at Arena Mexico, LU said they didn't care. Dorian Roldan went on twitter and posted LOL emoticons when PJ said he was working the ELITE shows, told the media it wouldn't it happen. PJ worked the shows & LU tapings afterwards without issue. I could go on but I'll stop here and let you explain to all of us where exactly screwing AAA has negatively effected anyone in this "partnership". You're also wrong about the cable thing when it comes to Canada beacuse they have a prime time slot on a non-pay TV channel here. The show is still in season 2 but will be all caught up by the time season 4 begins & ratings are apparently excellent which is why they got moved to the good time slot.
  10. LU talent knows their first priority is any LU show & these dates were known of a while ago. (Some people have exceptions like Ricochet for example) Nobody has responsibilities to AAA these days. Their spot shows are whoever is available, no consideration to who is advertised.
  11. Great rebound episode. It's very easy when you focus on the right people, let the action in the ring speak for itself & advance storylines that are actually interesting. Hope this the start of a nice run of shows until Aztec Warfare! Also hope Aero Star losing doesn't mean he disappears for 5 weeks. C'mon rabbits! You guys are supposed to be the fast ones! FYI That taping was the week before WrestleCon and is why Fenix couldn't make it to the show. They actually didn't even let him leave LA if I'm remembering right because he had surgery to fix his broken nose and wasn't allowed to fly. It's incredible he not only finished the match but also did a bunch of stuff in the condition he was in.
  12. There are details over on the @luchablog twitter account via Mariachi Loco on facebook. A perfectly appropriate way of getting information out there! All shows are free as long as you pay to enter the festival/fair where they are taking place. I'm sure Cricket Wireless is giving LU money for these shows but it keeps the streak alive of LU heading into year 3 without having run a single show with paid admission. Not the strongest trait of successful wrestling companies. I'm not sure if they are incapable of getting something like this going due to organizational structure or just unwilling to charge the believers money. It's a conundrum.
  13. I love Marty's act. I know a lot of people really don't, much the same way some of us can't stand the sight of Sexy Star/Taya/Mariposa/Kobra so I included him.
  14. When you come around on Pierroth too, let me know. Honestly... until this season LU never felt skippable to me. I had to watch it right away and there was always something to talk about. This season, aside from the first episode due to hype, I have never felt that way. This past week with NHL opening night + baseball playoffs + real life stuff I didn't even get to LU until the next day for the first time ever. Every episode seems to have a lot of filler which may be due to them extending the season to hit 40 episodes so a lot of stuff is being inserted just to stretch things out. In previous seasons every week or two either had a match you had to see because it was so good or some sort of spectacle. This season has really only had one spectacle (Marty/Killshot) & one standout match (Puma/Matanza... which was still not on the level of previous seasons). If you're watching just for the match quality I can easily see why you would have checked out already. There's much better stuff out there. They are focusing stuff around Chavo, Sexy Star, Marty & midget comedy... all stuff that turns a lot of people off no matter if you try to spice it up by involving Rey, the trios champs or Wagner. If you have a 2 hour show, spending time on that stuff is acceptable because you have time to fill. When you are consciously choosing to fill a 44 minute show with those acts, it makes me question the decision making. Those acts are not why people got into Lucha Underground & I would think that'd have been known when Season 3 started filming. I'm sure things will pick up soon enough so I'm not too concerned but I'm also not gonna play happy camper and pretend like this season has started off in a direction I enjoy. And we still have a really rough bump coming up...
  15. The feed cut off after Volador escaped La Cavernaria. He then put on one of his own but Cavernario got out. Then Volador hit the ropes and did his running crucifix driver (Volador Spiral 2?) for the win.
  16. Maybe they can put Yakupov back in & you can take him.
  17. I'm perfectly okay with the Leafs losing every game this season in exchange for Matthews scoring 4 every night. (Nobody mention that was his man who scored in OT!)
  18. I mean... the Leafs pretty much HAVE to lose this game now just so this appears a little realistic. This stat line would be insane for a full game and we're only through 2 periods.
  19. It reflects very badly on both since they are good friends in real life and couldn't even successfully do the most generic match possible for a Tuesday main event. Rush wasn't exactly killing it either. At multiple points both guys just ran into each other with no idea what to do next. The finish was just the most embarassing thing I've seen in a while and I just watched AAA TV earlier that day!
  20. I always wondered how they did the Dial of Doom live. I figured they just kept spinning until it landed where they wanted or ignored where it landed live, shot the scene as usual & then inserted a close-up clip of it landing on the right person later. You guys won't get in trouble for revealing stuff like this?
  21. Puma vs Matanza was awesome. Those guys have great chemistry. Love watching the big strong dude toss around the smaller bouncing ball. That suplex into the frence and german suplex spot were both incredible. The run-in and sell of the spear were perfectly timed. The LU women's division is god awful. Whether on their own or in poorly thought out intergender matches. Ivelisse/Mariposa was so slow and dull. I get what they were trying to do with that Cop Killa counter but fuck did they not come close to pulling it off. Not really into this Cage/Texano deal yet. Cage works better against small guys. This match was better than their first but still seemed rushed. Striker pushing Texano being 250 pounds was humorous. Poor Jack having to work Sexy Star next week. Rabbits are coming?
  22. POST REPORTED FOR BEING ANTI-VOLADOR! The finish sucked for one simple reason.... Volador lost. I just can't have that. Honestly it wouldn't have been that bad a finish in my mind had it been done to put Cavernario over as a genius savant like you described. I just feel like the entire idea was just to get Tirantes heat starting from his obviously slow counts. Either way I'm not here to talk anyone out of liking the match. I loved it. Those guys were just killing themselves and I can't let the finish take away from their effort level. Cavernario had that one shaky moment in the third fall where he showed his inexperience but otherwise everything went great. Certainly a must-watch. I'm a little afraid to see how they try to top it next week in their title match. LOL
  23. LOL Yeah. Basically Cage cheated on his wife with her (which I think was common knowledge since they went public?) & then when they broke up she complained he cheated on her with his ex-wife. Considering the stuff I've personally seen and heard about how self-absorbed & delusional she is, this isn't exactly shocking. BTW LU in Canada is already on Season 2 Episode 3 (Wed @ 8pm) so at some point in the winter they'll be airing Season 3 the same time as El Rey. Possible if there's a break before Season 4 airs Canada could be matched up with El Rey starting next year which would be neat.
  24. The Triad folks are Noob Sailbot, Smoke & Ermac! JUST AS I CALLED ON DAY ONE! Okay, not really. But without giving anything away they are part of plenty new faces I'm just waiting to finally show up this season. It's hard to tell when they will actually appear though because they are airing things taped on so many different dates Cubsfan has steam coming out of his ears trying to keep track. The WON this week had a HILARIOUS note on Melissa Santos. I could not stop laughing. I am just counting down until the inevitable moment she moves on to the movie industry or gets a WWE gig so people can start to really speak out about her. It's going to be ever so glorious.
  25. Real different season so far as compared to Season 2. That was very hectic with a big match every week since it was a shortened season. This season is clearly moving slower and building to things coming later on. The matches feel less important and certainly more rushed (catching a lot of real obvious edits) for whatever reason. I find myself comparing it so far to ECW 1999. You see the occasional cool spots every week & funny skits/outside the ring segments but it doesn't feel like the product you enjoyed in previous years. Something is missing. Don't get me wrong, it's still my favorite show every week, I'm just voicing my thoughts after watching tonight. It's tough when you get two squashes, a match where the talented guys have to deal with Sexy Star/Taya dragging things down & a main event where Chavo grounds a talented guy and then can't even take his finish smoothly which was his ONE JOB. (They cleverly edited Chavo dropping Azteca when he tried to catch the dive) Hopefully things pick up soon with a Puma vs Muertes match since they kill it every time and maybe the new faces start showing up soon. I can't handle another week of a midget vs regular sized dude & Kobra Moon in action...
