  1. This is a potentially dumb question, but:

Currently, I can’t connect my 360 to my WiFi because of, I guess, it‘s WiFi 6 or something. It worked just fine at my other place, but I moved, and Xfinity upgraded or something I guess, because there I had WiFi 5. Anyway, the only current workaround I see is setting up a dedicated router for my 360. I’m getting Ethernet soon, but I’m not sure if that would solve it either. If it does, then I’m good to go. But anyway, my question is..

if I play a 360 game offline, and get achievements, will they pop/show up when I log into my Series X? Both consoles use the same Xbox profile, I can view non-BC games’ trophy list on my Series X, so… yeah.

I really want to start Stranglehold, and finish X-Men Destiny, but I don’t want to do it if I’ll lose my progress/achievements.

I miss memory cards tbh. Constantly needing an internet connection sucks sometimes.

I think Page’s mega heat with Gabe might keep him out of WWE.

Fightful said two years ago that he rejoined as a member of creative so I doubt he has that much sway. Not nearly enough juice to convince Triple H or Nick Khan not to hire someone, anyway. Might go to shit once Page gets to wherever Gabe is doing creative though - not sure if that’s on NXT or one of the main roster shows though.

Either way he’ll be fine. Sucks that both members of the North are stuck either being a free agent, or a top dog in a little yard.

  3. I wanted to see Endgame at an IMAX theater, but didn’t want to drive an hour plus away just for that by myself. Only person I could find that wanted to go was a coworker who was going with his wife and kids, and I didn’t want to be that kind of third wheel (fifth wheel?) so I just watched it on Spankbang when it leaked. Hahahaha.

Christian had some good points about why he'd want to go after Swerve, but that's a really underwhelming first ppv defense for Swerve. Pretty much the AEW version of the new champ feuding with Kane. I could get behind Christian as part of a multi-man match, but that's about it. Come to think of it, a multi-man match to tie up Swerve's loose ends and transition into something new would've been much better. Christian, Keith Lee, and Jack Perry (who the brain genius Bucks convince he'll have an easy path to gold).

I don't know how he does it, but Jericho stays winning. His disingenuous babyface act played perfectly in Winnipeg, and he had a low key violent match with Shibata who played the "technical guy adjusting to hardcore match" role well. Ending could've been better, but these two delivered.

I remember when Omega faced Christian on the first Rampage episode, which was like three weeks before his AEW title defense against him at All Out ‘21. I didn’t think it would be a banger match, but it was. Both were, actually. Swerve isn’t Omega obviously, but he’s no slouch, and Christian just gets better with age, so I’m okay with this. It’s definitely better than what I had seen people saying online, which was that Perry was going to be thrust into the title scene immediately.

Also, Omega has to be somewhat okay, right? I know the diverticulitis diagnosis is real, but he was taking bumps and actual shots to the gut. And telling Okada give him a few months?? I mean, it would be insane, but Blood & Guts is in a few months I believe. Only other wrinkle in that is that FTR Hair might be in jail by then. Otherwise… Omega, FTR, Ibush or Hangman versus The New Elite??

Everyone wants to fantasy book Jamie Hayter returning and winning the title at Wembley, but I wonder if the plan isn’t for Mariah May to win the title at All In. It’s the natural conclusion of the All About Eve story, or continuation of the story depending on how much they want to ape from the movie.

Last thing, they need to let Kyle O’Reilly just be himself. Go watch his Hey EW episode and then watch him anytime he’s on screen. It’s night and day. He can still be violent as fuck in the ring but be a complete goofball outside of it. Someone said his personality is like if RJ and Omega had a baby and that’s so accurate.

  5. This is the best Marvel thing they’ve ever put on D+, and that’s including Loki. Just cancel the MCU and transition to animation only. This shit is fantastic.

Summers Family superhero landing gave me goosebumps, man.

I want all of the 90s cartoons to get revivals. Even F4, Iron Man, Silver Surfer, Hulk… but especially Spider-Man.

    Oh, and…

    MAGNETO WAS RIGHT

  6. I’m on the Terry Gordy episode and it’s giving me the All Japan itch that I always get every few months. Don’t think I’ve ever watched any Terry stuff from AJPW, so I might do that soon. Super interested in the Miracle Violence Connection, less so anything involving his Freebirds run.

I also didn’t know Richard Slinger was his nephew. I only know of him from early NOAH tapes and having good stats in EWR.

This might be the first season where I just skip around and watch the episodes that interest me. The Earthquake one was good, but why have a Dark Side episode? No interest in Buff, either.

@Casey As always I'm trying not to give you the most, most famous thing so not the Dibiase vs Duggan tuxedo match for Mid-South. Instead Duggan vs Buzz Sawyer. I don't think it was on youtube so I tossed it on a burner.

Now this is what I’m talkin’ about, this right here is fucking great stuff. I can count the amount of wrestling moves used on one hand, it’s just a straight up FIGHT, and it’s bloody as all hell. Buzz looks like a jacked up cousin of the Andersons, I like this guy. Duggan doesn’t do much for me usually, but it’s so weird seeing him outside of his WWF gimmick and he’s just a nasty brawler here. Is there another match between these two after this? The conclusion of the match, with the pull apart leading to more brawling backstage would normally lead me to believe there would be some sort of gimmick match in their future. If so, I want it now.

No idea where this is, or what promotion, but I love that it’s just a ring with some barricade and the floors are dirty and it’s not even concrete - like wood floors kind of. The mat is fuckin’ gross. Really adds to the aesthetic of it all, like it’s a bar fight transported into a wrestling ring.

More of this please, because I could watch stuff like this all day long. I don’t know why this did it for me more versus Patterson/Slaughter, maybe it’s because one seemed… too produced? I don’t know. But this is a great pick, I love it!

One request, and it doesn’t have to necessarily be for our Secret Santo adventures, but: do you have any links or anything for some Tennessee wrestling from the late 70s/early 80s? It’s always Lawler and stuff like that, but I’m super curious to see the stuff that my Dad would’ve watched when he went to shows in the Middle TN area. I don’t specifically want Tojo Yamamoto matches, but for example he’s told me stories about seeing Tojo wrestle around here back then.

If it makes you feel any better, none of my hesitation about the angle has anything to do with what I thought fans online would think, its my own deep hatred for heel authority figures based on years of trauma. If that isn't the direction they are going I'd be of course thrilled but based on how they did it I don't think the fear is totally unwarranted.

I don’t know that anyone here would actually hate or love anything based off potential fan reactions. That seems incredibly weird to me, and not something any of us would do.

  9. look I just hate the angle because main event Jack Perry is an unearned huge glowup, and is only near as over as he is, and in this spot, because Punk did a little light choking in England. For all the talk of fragile egos for one person, it’s funny that All Out or All In was never brought up for storyline purposes while Punk was still there, but the minute he’s gone they’re off to the races to try and cash in on it.

I’m fine with the Bucks being shitbag heels abusing their EVP status, but the minute you bring real life drama into all of this when the real pay off is now unobtainable when it previously wasn’t, I’m going to get annoyed.

Whatever, at least Swerve is champion even if he’s going to take a backseat to more Elite bullshit. Ospreay is going to keep being awesome, even if the International title isn’t what he should be chasing (unless the plan is to unify it with the World title and keep the Continental and TNT titles). Mina/Mariah/Toni continues to be good, and Deeb/Toni will rule obviously. I really want Megan Bayne to Mone’s heater, and for the Statlander turn to be a red herring when it’s actually Stokely turning on them both to introduce Bayne and join up with Mone.

I'm convinced some people are going to just always have something negative to say about AEW.

pre-Bucks heel turn this was literally you, every show thread, bitching about how Adam Cole or the Bucks or whoever and what they’re involved in. Now you’re in the position we were in, and you’re seeing people being negative and don’t like it because you’re enjoying it.

God forbid some of us who have been super positive, to the point that other people here mock it, about AEW for five years now are starting to see some flaws.

Swerve will be fine, yeah, but this is the equivalent of Cody winning the title at WrestleMania and then the next night he wrestles a 20 minute match and a segment for his next challenger is announced for next week. And then in the main event segment, the Bloodline beat up Adam Pearce or something. WWE fans would rage that the focus isn’t on your new World champion who just spent a year (two actually) chasing that title.

  11. Yeah I mean I’m not arguing the fact that owner getting beat up isn’t a classic trope or anything, but I don’t think this is going to lead to TK being on TV any more than he ever was. We aren’t going to get TV vignettes of him building a team or something. It’s not too hard to imagine FTR coming out to cut a promo and bigging him up and they’re proxies for him or whatever. Or Omega implores the babyface locker room to not take this shit lying down before he gets beat up/kicked out. Multiple ways they can go and none involve TK being an on screen character.

I think if anyone is immediately jumping to “Tony Khan is going to be an on-air character now/will be a heel/whatever” then you’re letting decades of WWE trauma slip in. Again, I hate the angle, mainly cuz of the Bucks and Perry and the lack of focus last night on Swerve’s big moment on Sunday, but I don’t think this is veering towards how WWE or whoever in the past would do it. TK is not built to walk tall, and if he had any interest in being an on-air character past what he’s done thus far it would have happened already I’d imagine.

Yeah I have seen this game in wrestling before and unfortunately after the first time it has been awful every time.   I mean what is next an authority figure that will probably turn heel 6 weeks later.    Tony Khan coming back and becoming Mr. Khan who ends up being a heel eventually. People acting like this a great way to get him off TV completely haven't watched a ton of wrestling.  Or you watch the best version only and was blissfully ignorant.

At least the wrestling is still damn good.   Just hope we don't see less it.  The only thing that gives me any hope on this tired ass angle is that Shad Khan will look at this shit and say to calm down.

I hate the angle as much as the next guy, but whoever is saying it’s a great way to write TK off TV is dumb as fuck because I can count on one hand the amount of times he’s been on screen in a meaningful way over the past 5 years. I also don’t think, and haven’t seen anyone seriously suggest it, that they’re going to bring him back as a heel authority figure. All of that was done just to get heat on the New Elite, and “put them in charge”, until they’re dispatched of eventually by a group of people. Next week will feed more into this “get as much heel heat as possible onto them” scenario, with either beating down or kicking Omega out of the building or whatever in his hometown.

Shad Khan isn’t going to look at that angle and say shit. You think he’s out here reading Reddit comments and the Observer or something? This company is valued at $2b 5 years into its life, the fuck does he care about if us nerds don’t like that his son got tombstoned by a shitty heel tag team?

Did I watch the show? No

Did I look up some GIFs? Yes.

What the fuck did I miss?

Alex “I need the Scoop” Marvez is a National Treasure

That transition from the IWGP logo to the belt was a nice cut?

So was that a multi man match or are you just happy to see me?

lol at Jungle Boy’s gut punch to Tony

Did Mercedes do more than her away dance this time? Only saw Willow’s perspective. Oh, nvm, I saw the slap. She say stuff too?

    SHAD THE DAD!

    Was this a zany episode?

If TK is derped out, instead of heel EVP’s being authorities, have Shad the Dad bring in someone to be the on screen President of Match Making. Arn? Jerry Lynn? Dasha?

    AEW is weird.

    Dasha got released.

  14. first Black World champion in AEW curtain jerks the show with a match, with only a segment announced (for next week!) to make his DoN title match official, the IWGP champion is the semi-show closer… but the show ender is the third rate Elite beating up Tony Khan.

Jack Perry is a main event level guy now, based off… getting put into a chokehold backstage by a bigger star, over a year ago.

    This fuckin’ sucks.

  15. It’s working out pretty well for them, since every currently available Fallout game is experiencing either its all-time player count or just more active than they’ve been in years.

It’ll be real shitty if the next-gen update wipes progress and makes you start a new game, though. Apparently that’s what happened with Skyrim and the Anniversary edition.

  16. days late, but this is the second PPV in a row I didn’t buy because I’ve been down on AEW for a bit.

But they hooked me back in with pulling the trigger on Swerve. I was scared they wouldn’t, but then I remembered what company this was.

I don’t feel like Ospreay/Danielson is the best match I’ve ever seen, but it’s way wayyyy up there on the list. Danielson is obviously one of the GOATs, but it’s really incredible how far Ospreay has come when he was a junior. Ospreay/Swerve is going to hit like fucking CRACK if they do it at All In.

Only other things I have to add: the Jericho match wasn’t the worst in company history, or even close. It wasn’t great or anything, but let’s not lie to ourselves here. And we also can’t ignore the fact that HOOK just… isn’t that great, honestly. He needs NXT, or something like it. Working double digit TV matches a year isn’t going to get him where he needs to be, IMO. Jericho sucks, and this whole meta “Punk was like this backstage” gimmick is fucking stupid. It’s one of the things bringing me down on AEW - now that the bad man is gone, they start doing stuff they should’ve been doing a long time ago (Bucks & Hangman going heel are the main culprits).

Toni at the presser saying if you want to watch cinema go watch a fucking movie is how I feel about WWE right now. They’ve only got my attention because of Punk and a few other things, but this over reliance on “omg this is cinema” and stupid shit like that clouds fan perception of what’s really going on.

  17. @Matt D Appreciate the burner account, that makes things easier for me.  I’ve got this weekend off so plenty of time between now and next weekend to watch that.

For you, I’ve got… more indie women’s wrestling. But from a few years ago. It’s Mercedes Martinez and Kylie Rae in a no ropes submission match. I’ve always been a big supporter of Mercedes - criminally underrated in the larger women’s scene anlongside the previously watched Nicole Matthews - and Kylie Rae is one of those What If questions for early AEW.

Again, not sure of what I’m supposed to be giving you every month since you’re more cultured than I am, but I figure somewhat current indie women’s wrestling might be a small blindspot for you.

  18. I’ve been binging the Blacklist on Netflix, up to S9 already. Boy, they really drag out the Liz/Red story as far as they can, over the shark, and then a little bit further huh? This S8 finale is just a huge info dump, likely because it’s Megan Boone’s last episode I believe.

Still fun stuff though, and a real treat to see James Spader just hamming it up and being fucking awesome every episode.

Sidenote, but the Tom story was ended too soon, and Liz/Ressler doesn’t feel earned at all the few times it does happen. Samara being shuttered away a few seasons ago SUCKED, too. Aram is just so whiny now, and that’s horrible because he was one of my favorite characters.
