I never got into Micro Brawlers and especially at that price I'll pass on these.  Besides, for $8 more you get the proper figures for them that look worlds better.  And considering they're all going to have figures I can wait for the ones not made yet.

I tend to agree. Micro Brawlers are OK for what they are, buy they seem like more of a cheap novelty gift.

Price point is sort of crazy—you're right, the AEW figs at retail are $20, $23/$24 if you have to pay an upcharge through Ringside Collectibles. These are going to be $17.99 plus tax, plus shipping for EACH ONE. People will pay more for these through PWT than they'll pay for figs through Ringside Collectibles.

I read about series 4 which has mostly new ones but also another Cody and Kenny.  I love both of them but after this set I hope they pump the brakes on their figures for a bit.  And I'm not sure what Unmatched is supposed to be unless it's meant to feature people a bit lower on the pecking order.

Agreed, this will be the fifth one. Dude needs to give it a break.

  3. Just finished two books recently.

The Young Bucks: Killing the Business

I preordered a signed, first edition, but after reading, I wish I would have waited for a paperback release. I've never had a more "average" experience reading a wrestling biography. My wife asked if it was a good, I paused, thought, and replied, "Yes? I guess so?"

There are a few good stories, including the time at PWG where Danielson and Strong worked pretty stiff (for much longer than planned) in a failed attempt to make the Bucks sympathetic baby faces, being super lonely their first few trips in Japan, and the entire dynamic between the Bucks and Omega choosing between AEW and WWE. But if you're not a big fan, you might end up feeling like this is really just a rundown of their lives and careers. Which is fine, I love hearing it straight from the author, there's just nota lot of creativity or storytelling. Maybe I'm just spoiled by some of the great books by Foley, Jericho, Regal, etc., (they didn't use any type of ghostwriter for this).

I admire their story, and what they've done to change the entire industry, and appreciate they dedicated so much time to this project. Like @Hagan said in a previous post, they're two genuine guys, so it's probably worth a quick read when it reaches a lower price point. Just doesn't expect an elite-level memoir here.

    Wrestling with Pixels

Every wrestling video game, ever. They cover it. The kickstarter for this opened almost a decade ago (2013!) and it was finally released last year, after the book was handed over to Hardcore Gaming 101 a few years ago. A fan of video games, and wrestling, this strikes two boxes. My growing interest in PURO MERCH! checked another box, as this has a short summary of every Japanese release ever (look at that, FMW had a game, and holy sh*t did Japan get a lot of releases throughout the years). It's also nice to reminisce about the US releases, and learn why I never knew about WWF In Your House for PS1 until 10 years after its release.

Summaries range from a third of a page to two or three pages (saved for a dozen or so titles). Brevity is nice, I don't need to read the full history on Super Wrestle Angels, but I'd like to know it exists.

It's decent in a "checklist" sort of way: seeing the art, knowing what it is, and maybe a quick opinion. If you're expecting it to be in-depth on each game, you're not going to like this. If you want a definitive list of what's out there, this is the book to own.

Sadly, the most common format is available at retail is paperback/black and white. I'm not sure if the digital formats are color or not. There's a paperback/color version floating around that I'll probably end up grabbing at an additional cost at some point. If this was a larger, color, coffee-table-style book, I'd be one of the first in line.

Aew series 3 is up for preorder. Riho looks like dogshit and I’d like to formally complain that four of 18 figures are young bucks and two of 18 are women. That said I ordered the set plus two oc’s as late Christmas presents for my lapsed fan friends who freakin love orange Cassidy.

The Riho is an odd choice (even if they decided months ago), and the figure doesn't look great. They double down by making a Riho CHASE figure as well.

And they totally missed out by putting "WHOEVER" on the side/left instead of the name.

Watching the latest AIW show, which was good up to this point...and Matthew Justice just let Bishop and Barkley give him three completely unprotected chairshots to the head.  What a bunch of dumb fucks.  Stopped the show, removed from watchlist.

As an AIW regular and someone that finds Matthew Justice entertaining ... he needs to stop that. It's been a semi-regular occurrence on AIW shows for the last two years and I'd guess other places as well. He's crazy enough where it doesn't add anything, and there's a legit cringe (and not in a good way) every time they do those spots.

Jumping off of balconies is more than enough.

I know this will sound cold but i don't mean it to.   If you have severe mental health issues such as Kylie and Mauro it's almost counter productive to have a position where you are in the public spotlight seen by millions scratch that, judged by millions.  With social media and the way people are treated/bullied it's really not safe to be out there where millions will criticize every move you make whether it's wrong or right.  I've only met her once and Kylie could not have been a nicer person and I truly hope she is well but perhaps a long break is needed. She was likely getting the belt on the companies biggest event of the year and it's a ton of pressure to take. Very similar to the AEW experience someone had mentioned.

I disagree. If you have mental health issues, I'd rather a therapist provide advice on whether a specific occupation should or should not be pursued.

For some, performing is an important part of positive mental health. For some, you're right, if you don't have the tools to deal with certain aspects, it can be counter-productive.

Either way, it's a bit naive to generalize and put every performer in the same bucket of what they should and should not do, and how that impacts their mental health.

  7. Another lawsuit by Joey Ryan, this time against for ROH student/wrestler Pelle Primeau: PWInsider

The best part? The first part of the lawsuit claims, that, Ryan slept with Pelle's partner (not knowing she was Pelle's partner at the time). When Pelle posted about this, he did so as part of #SpeakingOut movement, instead of just posting it as his own, non-related issue. Attaching the posts to the #SpeakingOut movement caused Ryan to lose cash. I guess that's one route to take.

The rest just claims libel after Pelle posted a bunch of stuff urging others to not financially support Ryan in any fashion.

Sorta random but I saw the video of the Mike Levy-Mickie Knuckles match from IWA years back and the aftermath on YouTube. I had heard about it and how fucked up it was and after seeing it calling it fucked up is the understatement of the century. In terms of sick and disgusting it makes the Mass Transit Incident look like Disneyland, every single person involved should've done considerable jail time except Ian Rotten: He should've been tossed into a wood chipper for the betterment of humanity. Say what you want about Corny but he has never been more correct than when he runs down that creep.

How anyone still supports this carny f*ck is beyond me—and that goes for workers, fans, IWTV, anyone.

After hearing the radio interview in 2010(?) where he just gets bombarded from others about the terrible stuff he's done (and little of which he denies), the amount of money he's swindled and stolen, and contributing significantly to the death of another worker, I'm shocked he hasn't been blackballed (or arrested).

I'm usually a fan but the second half of that show fell apart from the time the ref messed up the finish of the three-way, and turned into the most self-indulgent stuff I've seen on a Collective-type event since Kaiju in 2017.

I'm a big AIW supporter (it's my local promotion) and I couldn't agree more. I had such high hopes for the main event, and it wasn't even a good match, let alone a good ending to a months-long feud.

I got the package but probably the only things I will watch live is Spring Break, Bloodsport, and the AIW show.

Me, too. The venue is interested. All concrete. I feel like if it was packed it would sound awesome and just amplify everything. But with the size of the crowd now everything just sounds hollow and dead.

Cogar vs. Corino ending D-Generation F was a pretty rough way to go out.

What, is it pro bono or something? Joey Ryan can afford a lawyer?

Man, the "pro boner" joke was right there.

I'm curious as to what Joey thinks the end game is here. Even if the accusers admit to lying or fabricating the entire thing, I'm guessing they're not wealthy enough to just hand over thousands and thousands of dollars if found responsible.

He knows that more details of the incidents are going to come out in court, right?

    Damn.

Too bad, we'll all have to wait for another "Sh*t You Don't Want to Get Poked With" Death Match until a later date.

    That's the pun, right?

Yep. They just took the alternate phrasing "helluva" and pronounced that term differently than it normally would be. Get it, hahahaha, indies are hilarious with the top notch humor sometimes.

Now it's just something 99.9% of the audience doesn't get and sounds awful for a trademark move.

The Brandi figures are going for $200 on eBay and I'm really thinking about listing mine. Apparently in the initial shipments to walmart, there were double the amount of Kenny's and no Brandi's. And online all the figures are backordered until December. So if any obsessive collectors want to complete the set right now they have to go to eBay.

If i'm understanding it right the Brandi stock exists, it just mistakenly wasn't sent to stores yet. And you have to figure that will be the least sought after figure at least until series 4. So I'm envisioning racks full of Brandi figures in a couple months and they won't be worth anything.

However, its also possible somehow the stock will be really limited, and this could end up being the one ultra rare figure of the entire collection. I would hate to sell it and have that be the case and then I'll forever be missing one of the figures because there's no way in hell I'm paying $200 for one.

    Decisions, decisions.

Sell it. No reason to hang on to it Eventually you'll be able to grab one for at least half that. You'll be able to grab most of an entire later series with the profit.

Well unless you want to drive to every Walmart in a 25 mile radius 10 times over when the time comes  your best bet might be preordering for future sets from Ringside Collectibles.  I didn't preorder Young Bucks in time and it's been a bitch trying to find them or anybody else for that matter.  So unless I somehow find them I'll be paying about $90 through eBay or similar areas.  Mainly it's because Walmart sucks though since it's been a couple weeks I might try again.

    Why not just wait?

I'm vacationing near Pensacola, FL, and there were 10+ figures at the two stores I went to. I live in Ohio and there has been nothing.

You can use brickseek. While not completely accurate, it'll show you if your area has a decent quantity floating around. No need to drive around.

If brickseek shows 10+ it means they have a standalone display that usually has a ton of stuff.

That's the thing, he's not from Cleveland, he's from Parma, which is 93% white.  He's from one of those places that exists so white people can say they are from a major city without actually ever having to deal with any black people.  It's like white people who claim to be from Baltimore, odds are those people don't live in Baltimore.  They probably never even go to Baltimore.

No significant addition to this other than being shocked my current residence of Parma, Ohio, would ever be mentioned on DVDVR.

Yeah, he was very 'middle class' from the school he went to all the way the specific area of town he grew up in, and, while not entirely horrible or great itself, Parma is surrounded by some of the nicest communities in Northeast Ohio, all of which are know to be somewhat intolerant, in general. Parma is diverse, but in the "Is your family originally from Poland, or are they from the Ukraine?" sort of way.

Is this the tour where Austin broke Chono’s neck with the same piledriver Owen broke his neck with?

Nope, that was a month or so later. I'm not really sure it was technically "broken" as everyone talks about today (or as bad as Austin's was) but it did eventually lead to problems a year or two later.

I don't watch enough NJPW to know, but maybe this lead to the badass Yakuza-inspired gimmick change a few years later?
