Iowa runs a punt return back for a late touchdown only for it to be called back on review due to the returner signaling for a fair catch on his way to the ball

I wanted Minnesota to take Floyd home but Cooper DeJean (Iowa KR) got hosed so badly. It was a brutal call by the refs.

The Giants interviewed assistant coach Alyssa Nakken for their managerial opening

It is believed she is the first woman formally interviewed for a MLB manager position

The clitoris has over 8,000 nerve endings and it still isn't as sensitive as men faced with the possibility of a woman succeeding in "their" sport.

  3. Kicking off the season with Iowa women shattering the women's attendance mark for the Crossover at Kinnick charity exhibition against DePaul. 55,646 in the house.

Caitlin Clark went off for 34/11/10, which is also more points than the Hawkeyes football team has scored on their own field since 2021. 🤷

I want to see if they do Gary Hart in there. He mentioned that he had helped train the Von Erich kids, and pushed Fritz to treat them better.

The IMDB page has a "Gary Hart lookalike" listing, so there's that.

Rather than the awful Anchorman sequel, I think they could have got something decent out of a semi autobiographical Freebirds film starring Ferrell, Reilly and Carrell.

Why shoehorn Ferrell into a Freebirds biopic when you could have him for Flair's?

  5. I can't exactly call it a win for AEW, but you can absolutely say WWE's fears about the NXT brand got exposed, and exposed badly.

AEW was handicapped from the off by running on a different night, even with a very strong show on paper. Logically they were going to lose a big chunk of their audience... so what did WWE do?

    panicbutton.gif

They brought in ELEVEN folks from the main roster by my count (Asuka, Balor, Dominik, Priest, Ripley, Cody, Knight, Butch, Holland, Heyman, Shotzi), teased Roman, then added Cena for good measure... and THEN added Undertaker at the last minute because they felt the need to go glass-parking-lot for this one.

Sure they popped a rating for the night, but at what cost? Was it worth the "win" to tell the world they have no faith in that roster against anything resembling a threat? And what happens next week when those folks are gone?

He plans to file a wrongful termination suit because he definitely wants to go through discovery when he already admitted to jerking it while on the phone with the sexual harassment expert.

Brenda Tracy was a sexual assault survivor. I think Bill Cosby is more of an expert on the subject.

My favorite Michigan game ever - a 61-7 beatdown of Houston in 1992. Michigan was throwing bombs late in the game with their 4th string quarterback, future NFL TE Jay Riemersma, late in the game. After the game, Gary Moeller was asked if Michigan ran up the score. "That game was for the SMUs and Eastern Washingtons of the world". Along with the 95 against SMU, Houston scored 77 against Eastern Washington, all on touchdown passes by starting QB David Klingler.

This game felt like the Houston/Miami game with Klingler.

The Coogs had run up the score on Illinois awhile back (EDIT: actually the week before) as well. I remember it because Moeller mentioned them in that same presser and said something to the effect of "you don't do that to a Big 10 school."

WAR is weird in general. There are some guys it just loves for no real reason. Guy hits 15 homers with an OPS of .793, gets a WAR of 5.7. Another guy hits 45 homers with a .935 OPS and has a WAR of 4.9.

Most of the time it's good but there's a ton of headscratcher cases.

I guess the question is this. WAR - what is it good for?

If TK & co are serious about growing new stars, they could do a lot worse than having their young guys work Ziggler & Shelton. Both those guys would also make interesting additions to BCC.

Shelton, absolutely. Ziggler, not so much. His WWE presentation was all about being a showman and "having great matches" which pretty much goes against the entire BCC ethos. Ali OTOH would be a solid choice... all you need is for BD to endorse/fast-track him for the group.

I imagine Shelton could go back to Japan as well.

  10. I have no horse in the race but I absolutely love how Coach Prime has completely revitalized that deader-than-disco Buffs program. They are turning into must-see TV.

Meanwhile, Iowa State gets hosed by the refs at Ohio after they blow the call on a late field goal try.
