  1. Yeah, one thing I'm finding is that the New 52 stuff has made it very hard to figure out where to go with Batman, and others in some regards.  I've at least somewhat kept up with everything, but trying to backtrack 6 years of stories has proven somewhat daunting.  Life was easier when I had a roomate who bought all the books every week :P

I'm going to hold off on diving into any new 52 stuff for now.  I'm still not exactly warm to the idea.

  2. I always bring up Castillo when it comes to Mayweather fights, but that is a template Canelo would be wise to use.  I don't think he can take a punch like Castillo, however, so he absolutely must work in the jab and more straight shots.  I would hope that is something that he is working to improve on in training camp, as it is one of Floyd's biggest weaknesses.

  3. I'm not making a new post for this, but I am trying to get back in the comics game.  I really fell in like, 2006 after Infinite Crisis.  Guys, tell me what the vital DC reading is, and in what order, please.  Watching the animated Flashpoint film has inspired me to try to catch up.

  4. From reading ESPN and Grantland, teams can only use the amnesty once, AND on a player whose contract was signed before the last CBA, and that team had to be the one who signed the player. So if hypothetically, Miami had traded Miller to say, the Bobcats, Charlotte could not use the amnesty then on Miller.

With those restrictions the number of players left is shrinking very rapidly. . .

Who IS technically eligible at this point?  I can think of Kobe, Dirk, Pau(?), maybe Marion?

  5. That isn't QUITE the case with me.  I just stopped watching because I thought it was awful lol.  I started wrestling 10 years ago and just recently gave up on it.  In regards to your argument, I agree.  It's dumb to stop watching it just because you are in the business yourself.  If that is your only reason, then you were probably never truly a fan.

  6. I had a conversation with one of my younger contemporaries in the business, and she didn't understand how someone in wrestling could NOT watch wrestling(which is me in this case, obvi).  I had a hard time explaining that I treat it like any other tv show or movie.  If I think it sucks, I don't watch it.  I'm close to a year removed from watching any American wrestling, save for a show here and there, just to test the water and see if it is safe to dive back in.  So far, nothing has really brought me back.

This made me wonder, am I missing something?  My local friends seem to really be enjoying the WWE pr0duct these days, but every time I watch it, I just don't get it.  Have I outgrown wrestling, or has it just morphed into something I don't like and just passed me by?

  7. Believe it or not, I'm cautiously optimistic about the Monta deal.  Yeah, I would have rather had Iggy, or Dwight, or CP3, or Evans, or Al Jefferson, but we needed a scorer, and I think Carlisle will get something good from him. Honestly, we had to make a deal for a scorer SOMEWHERE, and this is what was available.  I do agree that it's alot of money, which I would have saved for a big fish next year, but it's becoming apparent that the big fish aren't going to Dallas right now.  I'm much more upset about the Larkin injury, but he'll be back in time for the opener.

I like the idea of a starting 5 of Calderon, Ellis, Marion, Dirk and possibly Dalembert or Oden.  Championship team?  Probably not, but a HUGE step up over what I had to endure last year.

  8. We don't have any money because of Boozer's magic bean contract. Aldridge wanted to come over but we couldn't get the pieces right.

We're pretty much locked into this core group for one more season, which isn't bad if D-Rose sets foot on the court and doesn't fall into a billion pieces. In 2014 we'll amnesty Boozer and we'll finally bring in Nikola Mirotic to see if he's the real or the jabroni. Deng will probably be gone too and we'll use his money to go hunting for another big fish. As a fan, I'm in a pretty good spot as my team willactually be competitive next season(as opposed to tanking) and will hopefully be better the season after.

What's it like Jae?  Being optimistic about your team's future?

  9. I honestly think the Nets taking all of these guys was meant to give Kidd some solid veterans in his first season.  They are a second round team at best, but they'll make J. Kidd look decent in his first coaching season.

  10. Of all of Dwight's suitors, I think Golden State would have been his best chance of actually, you know, winning a championship.  Houston is still in the process of gutting their team because of him, and after last season, I would be dying to keep Asik.

Dallas having to eat free agent table scraps is "friend zoned by the love of your life" levels of depressing.  Literally just a read a story that we were an hour away from signing Iggy.  I hate life.
