  1. I really, really tried to like Shotzi Blackheart, she’s not terrible in the ring, but everything else about her just screams poseur to me. The howl, the welcome to the ball pit (wtf does that mean?!) the tank and helmet. She’s every annoying person at every punk show or goth club I have ever been to who is too loud, gets too drunk, and tries way too fucking hard. LOOK AT ME!!!! LOOK AT ME!!!! I KNOOOOOW ALLL THE WOOOOORDS!!!! I MET THE BAND!!!! LOOOOOOOK!!!!

I think this one hits me closer, being close to his age and being a father.

Absolutely. I was a fan of his as a wrestler, but listening to him on both Talk is Jericho and then AEW Unrestricted, I really connected with him as a husband and a father. And his episode of WWE Formerly Known As too...goddamn I was crying tonight. I’m 44 and a father as well.

Comics and Wrestling collide!  Some friends surprised me with this Lance Archer sketch by Daniel Warren Johnson for an X-mas gift.

I bought his Wrestletober sketch book, it’s incredible. He’s a big time NJPW & AEW fan. We had some great chats the last two NYCCs.

  4. I get JR’s point about the waiting around to catch, but drawing the fans attention to that is counter productive especially when he does it on air repeatedly, he’s burying the talent and exposing the business. I agree with @John E. Dynamitethat if it’s a great dive don’t show them bunching up, show the flight and the impact. Problem solved. And JR also needs to shut the fuck up about leg slapping, it is what it is now, & honestly the only time I notice it is when he fucking brings it up!

I love how Shane's jiu jitsu is hyped up by the commentary as he agonizingly tries to place his legs for a triangle choke. His shadow boxing nonsense was already rough but now he's some fearsome black belt. I guess the match did draw some attention for a Mania card that was falling apart at the time.

I’m a BJJ brown belt under Matt Serra, Shane’s BJJ is dogshit.

Coming soon, DVDVR’s guide to Onomatopoeia which I had to look up.

    Sting goes goes Owww!

    Flair goes Whooo!

    Titus goes owah, owah, owah!

Kevin Smith created an incredible villain named Onomatopoeia who he first used in Green Arrow and later on in Batman. No, I’m not joking, he was awesome.

  7. I think we are all preconditioned to expect wrestlers to look a certain way. And I do get it, listen, I'm 44 and I'm in what most would consider to be great shape for my age, HOWEVER, there I guys I train with that are my age or older that put me to absolute shame. And of course much younger dudes as well, and that's what I compare myself to. I know I shouldn't but I do, I was chubby growing up, so there's that. I have a full time job, a wife, and kids and I find time to work out every day. So yeah, sometimes I get aggravated when I see dudes on TV who are paid to fucking wrestle who don't look like they train/eat right. And I get it, it can be part of a gimmick, and it shouldn't have to matter if they can still go, which Chuck absolutely can, but it still does annoy me a bit, I can't help it. Like I could give a fuck if a dude is short or not shredded to the gills, or not a HOSS, but look like you get paid to do what you do. I also notice that people on here have really cracked down on folks body shaming female wrestlers, which as a #GIRLDAD, I think is awesome, however, why is it OK to still body shame male wrestlers? All I ask, of both sexes, is look like you give a fuck and you're putting in the work. Or if you don't maybe find some more flattering gear.

I have no idea what the fuck is up with Cody.  One minute he's doing awesome baby face shit like getting whipped like a dog by MJF or even going as far as to eat a thumbtack spot in a No DQ match with Eddie Kingston.

The next he is cutting really sketchy promos like the "Why Is Your Son Training With Me, Taz?" crap from last week or he's doing heelish things like doing push-ups during a title match with Darby Allin.

I honestly believe he has no idea how to book himself.  He obviously wants to assume the role of the ace in the federation, but you can be an ace without shameless self-promotion.

As for Colt Cabana, I don't really give a shit about him because he is just a Dark Order hanger on.  He has not totally given himself to the program and its way past time for him to have decided.  Fish or cut bait, Colt.

The best part was the heel promo when he straight up SAID the TNT belt was the “ACE” belt and Darby wasn’t the Ace he (CODY) was. What a fucking lame ass joke! Ugh only one dude can call themselves the ace and not sound lame and Cody is not Tanahashi.

  9. Can someone please explain to me why they bothered to pay POPPY to come out to “sing” Io to the ring for Halloween Havoc? I loved the first time Io came out and Poppy performed, but this time she was obviously lip syncing and the music was so low you couldn’t barely hear the vocals. Was she supposed to be singing over a backing track and no one told her? I know this was over a month ago, but I’m surprised no one brought this up. What a fucking waste.

Apologies as we have a two days left in quarantine and it’s been my wife and I working from home, our 6 year old doing remote learning, and our 21 year old doing FUCK ALL. Sorry...sorry...little bit stressed.

See how the list of Wrestlers who have, in their whole careers, Wrestled for WWE, TNA/Impact, RoH and AEW is really short? We're one Young Bucks vs MCMGs rematch from Alex Shelley managing to do all four in one calendar year.

Honestly MCMG & TJP are the only male wrestlers in IMPACT I want to see in AEW.

  11. My best friend has sons that he’s made into real wrestling fans, they are 8 & 6. They mostly love NXT & AEW. He put on an old school Jericho in WCW match and they could not believe it was the same dude.
My wife, who’s been with me since 2002, came in when I was watching AEW & could not believe that was Jericho as she hadn’t seen him since his short hair VH1 talking head phase.

He just looks all kinds of horrible now. It’s obvious he still works out but also obvious from how he talks about it on his podcast, the sound of his voice and his face, how much he fucking drinks. I get he wanted to finally be a heavyweight but instead he’s just rocking the Jeri-Gut. It’s really sad as I’ve been a fan since his WCW debut. I’m not saying at 50 he should be in cruiserweight shape but maybe clean up the diet and put the vodka down once and awhile? Do some cardio? Because his work is definitely starting to suffer now.

Going back to the wrestling talk.

Watching post 2008 ROH and that stuff feels so dry and uninteresting. I can't pinpoint exactly why but it feels different to the 2008 product. I loved the Danielson and Nigel series, the Danielson and Aries series, etc., the Briscoes, but after 2008, it just seemed like a different product entirely and their matches don't connect with me to the same degree their matches from the previous years do.

I owned every ROH DVD up to and through 2008 and had gone to a ton of shows from 2002-2008, but then end of that year was then of me watching them...it just got...bad. I do still wish I had those DVDs though. I sold my entire wrestling DVD collection, which was huge, when I lost my job in 2010. I miss them ☹️

Hello, @WholeFnMachine. Good seeing you here, my friend. Daniel Bryan is the Greatest Wrestler of All Time. I'm 35 years old and been watching wrestling since the age of five.

I meant to encompass his entire body of work, including the Daniel Bryan run, he’ll always be Bryan Danielson to me, but I love WWE run as well as his indie run. Though I do really, really miss the Final Countdown.

    I feel dumb. What’s ATB?

Edit: oh, After The Bell. I’m so used to not paying attention to official WWE stuff. Might check this out though.

Dude, honestly, if it wasn’t for Graves referring to it that way a million times an episode, I wouldn’t know either!
